I always come back to this. I'm not even kidding when i say there is some sort of magic to the original Wizardry that still holds up to this day. It is one of the most satisfying and fun games I've played (yeah, its frustrating too.) And this is coming from a young fan.

It's upsettingly unknown! For being such an important game for RPG's, it doesn't get enough recognition. I still have to defeat Werdna one of these days!

Wizardy 1 and 5 were so amazing when I was younger.. Didn't get to play the others until much later. I love love love 6 so much.
Love this score, always have, one of the best ever composed for a computer RPG that holds up still to this day. This game was ground breaking back in the day and is still probably my all time favourite. I still have my old NES cart and guide book. Wish I could find a copy of this score cd to buy that doesn't cost an arm and leg...

wiz 5 on the snes was my favo. So rewarding to compleet something. Also the music was very awesome, just like this video.
holy shit I spent a year memorizing every dungeon level in the first wizardry back on SNES, listening to these tracks over and over and over...the power of autism

To think this old-school RP became so popular that it still has a following today.
@Misa_Susaki5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, and it was one of the very first RPGs ever. Very impressive that they nailed it so well so early on.
fenris91 The reasoning behind that is because while there were NES ports, only 1 was released in the US. I think KoD maybe as well. 3 and 4 were NOT ported to the NES or SNES at that time. So to keep up with this, the most popular version was 1 so capcom noted that when they announced this game was going to be localized, hence the similar soundtracks.
I was first interested in the series because of the music. but I guess the games are too hard for today's standard.

eriol Wiz 4 in particular was notorious. I remember playing Wiz 1 back at school on an Apple IIc, never got further than level 2 in the dungeon. Most of my Wiz play nowadays is the Dark Savant trilogy, particularly 7 and 8.

Ah man, too late of a reply. But i disagree. I was born in the late 90s, so this is isn't nostalgia talking when i say that Wizardry 1 is still an amazing experience. Dark Souls is hard, and everyone loves that game, this is no different.

Haha, Haneda and Sugiyama both went with a classically-informed approach to their respective games. Haneda leans quite a bit more into the baroque, while Sugiyama is a little more romantic, I think.
a fine example of an american game being japanized
@Misa_Susaki7 жыл бұрын
But I adore the music created for the Japanese ports. I think that this Wizardry theme should be the theme for all the USA games too. I know they don't have music, but I'll still think of this soundtrack when I play the older DOS games. (I-III)
