Pretty sure my first reaction was either "oh a lightning horse, that's cool" or my brain trying to figure out why there is an electric unicorn when throughout Monster Hunter world I've mostly been fighting dragons, giant lizards, and super powered dinosaurs

My favorite part of these rewatches will always be when Josh says the exact same thing he did literally years ago and then gets mad he hasn't changed in the slightest.

The intro encompasses the wonderful appeal of this franchise. Any other series centred around myriads of highly aggressive monsters would likely be gritty, forefront with its brutality, and drawling how humans still prove worse than any dragon, willing to slit their fellow's throat for a zenny. But Monster Hunter is gleefully positive, acknowledging the potential danger of these creatures yet treating them with an understanding air, and contrasting them with all the dancing cats, bountiful festivals, and a real camaraderie among humans. More so the obvious brightness was apparent when Geralt visited. He repeatedly expresses fascination with how welcoming and sincere the Commission is, in contrast to the many cruelties he's experienced back home.

It's quite the fascinating dichotomy, isn't it? Such a deadly and dangerous world, and yet the people living in it take this world in stride and just live out their days the best they can.

@@GunlessSnake It's interesting because in the background lore The Ancient Ones (the ones who built the Tower and Schrade) were complete dicks to the monsters and it bit them in the ass (sometimes literally, mostly figuratively) when the intelligent Elder Dragons (aka ones with human and above level intelligence) had enough and fucked up their shit, essentially blasting them back to the Stone Age. After that they Wyverians decided that rather than trying to control nature and the world as 'The Ancients' had done, living in harmony with nature, understanding it and only culling monsters when they were a direct threat to civilization or when populations became too big was the right way. This, of course, was taught to the Humans. For example, Charge Blades and Gunlances are considered 'ancient Tech' that the Guild found in ancient ruins and has reverse engineered. Monster Hunter is technically a Post-apocalyptic world but unlike most other world in that genre, the world is actually doing BETTER post-apocalypse than it was prior to that.

Because the current canonical backstory is that Humanity nearly caused a total ecosystem collapse due to unregulated overhunting of Monsters, hence the creation of the Hunter's Guild to regulate hunting to sustainable levels.

HR49 Tempered Kirin was one of the Quests I did the most prep for in Base World. I specifically made myself a Thunder Resistant Greatsword set. Didn't even play Greatsword in World before I made my Anti Kirin set. Atleast it came back into action when AT Kirin got released. In Iceborne then Hammer became my go to weapon for it (and pretty much everything else).

13:45 Italian here! The caciocavallo literally means "cheesehorse" but you could call that a false friend I guess... It is made from cow milk, nothing special, and the name comes from the way people used to keep them in their home, usually binding two of them to the ends of a single rope and hanging them on a beam in their house, a bit like the stirrups on a horse's saddle

if you wanna reminisence in the "Good'ol times" i'd love to see you do a "back then vs now" where you do a review of the old video and fight the monster afterwards (unless the video is turning out to be to long xD) but i would still love to see the skill difference back to back from you reacting to your old videos and how you hunt the same monsters now (or stronger versions of it)

As an italian I can tell you that yes, caciocavallo literally means horse cheese, but no, it does not come from horses, it is still cow cheese. I was curious about the origin of the name and wikipedia says that we don't know for sure why we call it horse cheese despite it being cow cheese... I also discovered that horse milk, along with donkey milk, are the milks that are the most similar to human milk... I don't know what to do with this information

I once fought Kirin with a friend and accidentally went back to the first starting camp on the other end of the map. Fun fact you can see Kirin's lightning strikes from there. It's crazy 😂
