Going off the “SoT players never want to engage in fights”, a friend and I were playing the other day doing vaults in the roar so we were pretty stacked. While we were looting a vault a ship came in to attack so I ran to our ship and sniped one that was rifling through our barrels, then got on my ship and fixed the damage and bilged the water, then I went to board their ship but the guy left on board blunders me off and they literally ran away and didn’t come back. The MILLISECOND they realized the vessel was not helpless they ran like cowards.

It serves well enough as an extended tutorial, but not if you want to accomplish more in the game. The fact that you can't use your Captain's Ship in that mode is a significant letdown for these players. The game does not have a ranking system. You could be unlucky and end up playing against people who have hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of experience in the game, which can quickly become very frustrating. That's just my perspective on why people may not like PvP or may not want to engage in it in this game.

Safer seas is a thing, and I strongly recommend new players to it… hopefully he didn’t uninstall , this game has so much potential and has such a good player base…he sounded so defeated tho man, even though you did show mercy, we don’t know what’s all going on behind the player behind the screen. we all got our own personal bs irl and maybe use games/sot to unwind/get away… but again, for Christ sake, if you’re tryna “unwind/get away” and avoid player interactions/risk/whatever - USE SAFER SEAS
