Somehow this is more fair than the typical Kaizo hack that add a level cap for every Gym so you're always underpowered and just shy of evolving any mon you could have access to, give enemy trainers high tier moves and mons incredibly early, not giving the player access to these options until endgame if you're lucky or in the post game if you're lucky, giving enemy trainers much higher level mons on top of the player's level cap, making some trainers and wild encounters break the 100 level cap so you can suffer and not repel spam away the wild encounters if the hack even gives you the option to buy repels with the meager amount of money they give anyway.

You can always give an absolutely awful Pokemon as one of your only options in a normal game. Like having a Pokemon with good stats (500+ total) that can only learn defense boosting moves and Last Resort, but has a Truant-like ability that restores PP on off turns. This means it uses a move, then must restore the PP next turn. There is no escape. You must suffer.

Gym 1 is kinda fair though very powerful for that phase of the game. Gym 2: Bring a ghost type. Watch as explosion and self destruct do nothing. Gym 3: Sturdy walls this gym. OHKO moves do nothing to Sturdy mons. Gym 4: Difficult but Swift and its equivalences are options. Gym 5: Oblivious mons ignore all stat boosts. Gym 6: That is difficult but maybe confusion. Gym 7: Hard to say due to not knowing what megas they use and strategy. Gym 8: Gastro Acid. Greg: Okay. No idea. Gregg: Just Taunt them. Watch as all he can do is Struggle. Greggg: No clue here either. Gregggg: See Greg. John: Infinite Battle? Honestly, no clue. Maybe Illusion?

9:08 you guys reminded me of a video I watched a while back. I was watching a verlisify battle video and the other guy had 6 mega pokemon and both his mewtwo charizard mega evolved into their second mega (i forget which way). I would say not to judge but a: i didn't discriminate on battle videos at the time and b: he was actually right in this case, the guy was cheating.
