Hi I'm Malaysian Indian there is no sugar contain in the curry powder as well we indian's do not add sugar in spicy curry stuff it will spoil the taste of the curry. If you think the curry is too spicy you can add on yogurt or diary in to the curry to mild the spicy. Sugar is added when you do Sambal a kind of gravy paste type made in most of our Malaysian house. hope this help you guys.

Hi Brother banana leaf is really hygiene natural food plate for Indians no need to wash with soap or hot water. “People use banana leaves for cooking and serving food because of the various health benefits they are said to have. It is believed that the leaves have anti-bacterial properties that kill the germs that dishes might have, thus reducing one’s chances of falling sick,” “The leaves also have a flavourful waxy coating that melts when hot food is placed on them, lending a unique taste to the food,”. Banana leaves are also used in the preparation of some Ayurvedic medicines for their healing properties; and so when one eats food off them, or uses them for cooking, the goodness is also absorbed besides the flavours. Cooking using banana leaves “Banana leaves are also used in cooking a few dishes. Steaming using banana leaves give the food a sweet taste and a pleasant fragrance,” Besides adding flavour, the leaves keep the juices intact and protect food from burning - the banana leaves act as a protective sheet and prevent the dish from catching fire. Thus banana leaves not only lend their goodness to food, they are a treat for health as well. “The antioxidants in them are reported to help fight cancer. The leaf also contains polyphenol oxidase, an enzyme that produces L-DOPA, which is used in treating Parkinson’s Disease,”

Hi...just would like to share my experience. Before Baba's and other curry products was introduced in Malaysia many people use to make their own curry paste or powder by them only. Maybe some new generations are not aware of it. I prefer to use the traditional method by using the grinding stone to make the masala paste to make non vegetarian dishes like chicken, mutton and also for the fish. And to make the dry chilli powder and curry powder I just prepare all the dry ingredients by myself will gave to the mill to make it as powder. I'm sure there are still some Malaysian Indian who are like me, where they prefer to make their own preparation of chilli powder and masala powder. Thank you for taking time to read my comment.

If you remove the seeds of the chili, it will be less spicy. Btw, thats how you can make it less spicy in future. Adding sugar changes the flavour, but its an acquired taste. Some love it, some dont. Also if the mix is already spicy, you could grind almonds and add it to reduce the spice.

Imagine the laziness and his reluctance 😂😂😂 Anyways i am so impressed of the 2 of them made curry powder from scratch! I dont think any malaysian ever done that. And surely i have no idea the difference between babas, kari ayam canned, and the other one i dont remeber.. Whoever cares, except for them😅 Japanese people always do everything up a notch because they are very hardworking and humble people. Good job👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻 i wish I'd do everything in full measure like jimmy and ichang

The last time i help out pounding with a pestle and mortar since I was 6. We are so busy these days we no longer can enjoy making stuff from scratch. I am so inspired and impressed, hope I can try doing it from scratch.

Wow! Homemade curry powder... respect! A little suggestion on sterilizing your banana leaf - I saw my late grandma doing this when I was little - wipe clean, turn on your stove, and run the leaf over fire quickly. 1) banana leaf is sterilized 2) banana leaf releases natural aroma ❤️

hi i am a malaysian. just wanted to say that most of the indian restaurant in malaysia would not wash a banana leaf with soap. Because soap can be poisonous. They just wash it with normal water and it will be ready to be used. Pls take care .

Hats off for doing this curry from scratch and being so entertaining. Your fellow Japanese might think you're both nuts but Malaysians probably think you both should be made honorary citizens for trying so hard and being fans of the spicy delicious cuisine. Keep it up!

You can try add coconut milk instead of water. The gravy will be thicker. To prepare the banana leaf you just need to wash it under tap water then toast it on a flat pan for 1 to 3 minutes and you’ll get the fragrant smell of the leaf.
@AdrianChiang724 жыл бұрын
I think one to three seconds enough, even one minute it'll burn worst than ichang putting the boiling water... 😱
@incineratorium4 жыл бұрын
Milk or specifically, evaporated milk would do it too if no coconut milk available.
