We Made Pulled Pork, Postpartum Update & Planning Baby's First Park Trip! | Home Vlog

In today's home vlog we make some pulled pork in the slow cooker, talk about Jenn's postpartum recovery, and then we ask for your help in planning Jackson's first park trip. What park do you suggest, what rides do you think would be good for his age? Let us know in the comments down below!
Also update about the pork, it wasn't terrible but I think we'll definitely try another recipe, this one just produced too much liquid. The pork was super tender after we cooked it for another 3 hours on high, though. Thank you for watching and we'll see you tomorrow with a new vid!

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh would be an adorable first attraction for Jackson to ride! It's not too long, it's such a cute ride, and he can wear a cute little Winnie the Pooh outfit and then you could go get a family photo with Winnie the Pooh and some of the characters from the hundred acre wood right after! 🍯♥️

Slow Cooker Tip: Resist that urge to open it up while cooking, especially when cooking on low heat. It takes it awhile to get back up to temperature and increases your cooking time.

y’all this just makes me so happy. i remember the exact day The one blog came out where they were answering frequently asked questions, and Jen got so emotional talking about their struggle with having children. but now their family is complete and full and you could just tell how happy it makes them. Yes definitely the Carousel!! I loved the carousel as a child And it was magical. Also it’s something that’s not dark or scary and you can sit on the benches and plays music. I think Jackson would love that.

I love how you guys are so passionate and really consider every factor for rides for Jackson. I don’t think I remember giving it that much thought for when my first daughter was born, we just went on all the rides that were tame enough that a pregnant lady could go on. It made it simple when you looked at that way, but I get your concerns if the ride stops or gets stuck for a longer period of time. Our daughter, Atlantis’ first ride was The Seas with Nemo and Friends at Epcot! It was slow moving and she had neat stuff to look at, and we also did the Ariel ride in Fantasyland. And any boat ride basically was perfect!

Tips on the pulled pork: 1st Your right about all the extra ingredients, they just give different flavors to the pork, take out what you don't like. 2nd Pork goes well with everything apple so if you don't like the vinegar taste you can sub in apple juice for not just the vinegar but also the chicken broth, gives it a really sweet taste! 3rd Get Boneless Roast! It's a little more expensive but worth it to not have to dig out all the bones. Who needs to worry about accidentally choking on a bone. 4th Lay the Pork Roast where the fatty side is on top so the juices all run down. Side Note: Tim, to unpack Brown Sugar (light or dark) measure with cup then dump packed sugar into hand and crush to sprinkle. either that or it means to lightly pack into measuring cup depends on the recipe and who wrote it. Our Personal fave BBQ sauce to use is either Oklahoma Joe's (A Local Sauce, of course), Jack Daniel's Honey or anything Memphis Style. There is this great place in Little Rock called "the Whole Hog" that has the best sauce I've ever tasted and every time we go there we get a bottle. As far as Jackson's first ride, We are in favor of The Seas with Nemo and Friends or The People Mover.

When you cook in a crock pot, you have to LEAVE THE LID ON Every time you open it, You lose the heat and stop the cooking process

I was going to say the same thing, I used to be bad for lifting the lid off the crock pot to give the items a stir or to get in a sample taste to see how it was cooking. I found out the hard way that it does increase cooking time. Going to give this recipe a try looks so good!

Also we only get to Disney every other year but the 1 picture I get every time from age 1 to age 9 her walking to the castle with a Mickey balloon. When you have too much liquid, offset the lid so that the liquid evaporates. I just do some onions on the bottom, pork and bbq sauce...LOW is always better!

Both of my kids and I put our vote down for Dumbo as Mr. Jackson's first ride - it is really gentle and brief (and not dark - sometimes the dark can unsettle babies). Dumbo is still my 6 year old's favorite.

We took our 3 month old to Disney for 3 weeks (we are from uk), and took him on EVERYTHING! He loved small world, and fell asleep on spaceship earth. You won’t ruin anyone’s experience, so don’t worry about that! Our 4 y/o was just under 2 when we first visited WDW and small world is still has favourite ride. I’m sure Jackson will love anything you take him on, he is a Tracker after all!!

I’m happy you healed so well Jenn! With both my babies I had 4th degree tears. My first the recovery was horrible! I was in pain for months but my second baby I felt completely healed after probably 3-4 weeks. If I could give advice to women who have that kind of tear is to take epsom salt baths everyday and soak that poor booty! 😊

We bought a white tree in 2018 that has white lights. Living in the dark, dreary Pacific Northwest, the tree was like a beacon of hope that winter won't last forever. We removed all the ornaments after Christmas and just plugged it in every evening. Then, in February, I decorated it with red and pink ornaments and decor for Valentine's Day.

The Seas with Nemo and Friends! Would kinda fit his bedroom theme too! Also, we use your recipe for pulled pork regularly and find that if you cook it slow for 10-12 hours but for the last hour, take the lid off and turn it up to high, the liquid evaporates a bit and the sauce is so much better!

I love how first time parents worry about how a baby will do with everything. Make sure that you also do what you both want to do. Babies are so unpredictable and that they have break downs even on the most random well thought out things in life! I could write a book on the well thought out ideas my husband and I had with our children, first and second one.. and those plans went out the window before we even attempted. We learned to just go with the flow and do things that made us happy as well. It's a learning process and let me tell you... with an 8 and 11 year old... things have not changed much...lol... enjoy your first trip to the parks and everywhere else you go! It's the breakdowns and meltdowns that you look back years later and laugh about them... and even miss them!
