I live in your community. Please Please have good reliable security. Response time in our area is longer then in town, and many people are aware of the cost of things in your house and many many suffer here from poverty and often fall to temptation. I am glad you are moving in finally! My brother in-laws family owned this place for a while and just never got the funds to fix everything up. I am so happy you have honored this place!!

Unbelievable! When you said your big table came from a Library, I had to wonder... Guess what? Your big oak "dining room table" came from the old library in my little town of Galesburg, Illinois!!! The construction for our new library started about the same time you started the work on your Schoolhouse. I'm so glad to hear the old library furniture is being repurposed.

@@Schoolhousehomestead A small world, indeed. The old library is 3 blocks east of me, and the new library is across the street. I don't know if I ever sat at your big table, but I'm pretty sure I sat at one of the smaller oak tables shown in your video. Pretty cool!

@Heidi51616 Loved your comment in calling the school “her”. And yes, she needed to be saved. Several years ago, I cashed in some childhood bonds to give a friend that bought a hundred +plus years old church that a small town was going to tear down. I just wanted to “save” it. The stained glass windows are fabulous. I wish had more funds to help my friend because the bell tower is leaking pretty bad. But I figured I extended her life a few more decades. My friend does live there.

I went to a grade school like that in Milton Wisconsin. I was a preteen and I'm 82 now. Those buildings were so unique and embracing to a child, warm and comfortable. I remember practicing long hand there. We would play jacks on the side of the building on recess. Happy days. Your school home is very unique and beautiful. Oh my goodness!!! My 8 and 10 year old have been watching your videos with me ( I'm not allowed to watch without them) on this schoolhouse journey for a couple of months, and they squeal every time there's an update. This am, they yelled so loud when they read, "we moved in!" I myself love this even more. Growing up, our church rented an old school house very similar to yours! Upstairs was all classrooms which we used for Sunday school and nurseries. Principal office was the pastor's office. Downstairs where the cafeteria/kitchen had been was where we had church service. I mean, even the walking in area was the same! I always told my mom it would make a great house! I'm so glad someone else is living my dream! Your family has done so much, and it has made my heart so happy to see your journey! You will make so many more memories as you make it into your family home!

Now you need a short school bus outfitted as an RV for when you travel! LOL! PS, love that you made the fizzy water thing work without those annoying replacement bottles. Might have to try that. Keep up the good work, love the front entrance porch. Want to store some of our cars in your airplane hanger garage? LOL! Remember that large spaces can make you feel isolated and disconnected, so remember to intentionally create some small cozy places where you can reconnect with yourself and each other. Your home is so beautiful! The wooden floors, I adore them! I grew up in Petersburg, Virginia and now live in unincorporated Lakeland, Polk County, Florida in another 1940s house, which is one level instead of three levels. My childhood home that was built in the 1940s had old mill house floors that had rounded wooden pegs. Every five years Daddy rented a floor sander that he used to strip the wax and the stain. All the floors of the house were done over a two month period, April and May. The stair cases both sets along with the banister’s and spindles were sanded down by hand and refinished polished to a high shine. We children knew it was as we called it ‘Floor’s and Steps Time’ we even made up a dance that our parents loved! After all floors were done my Mom would turn chairs, sofa’s end tables, dressers and makeup dressing tables with narrow padded chairs, wooden bed frames that we had to unscrew the four post and wooden slatted canopies , basically every and all antique furniture in the house! She would take off all the existing ‘scoot’ pads. She made her own ‘scoot’ pads from Cotten Batting and old flannel shirts and flannel night gowns. Mom would cut circles of flannel and circles of Cotten batting then sew them together leaving petted edges. She would use an old fashioned furniture tack by hot gluing the tack in the center of the batting then folding the palettes inward and over the tack pushing the sharp tack needle thru the material and adding a few drops of hot glue to complete the connection. To instal the ‘scoot’ pads she would place the tack needle in the center of the legs and tap into place with a small furniture hammer! By doing this it insured the floors did not get scratches and or gouges! It would take a year of making these before the install. Trust me my Mom knew about antique and how to take care and restore them! She and Daddy loved antiques and would take me to Estate sales to buy special items and furniture. In doing this I became knowledgeable in antiques. It came in handy when my brother and I broke my Mom’s one hundred year marble topped cherry wood coffee table! My brother was the one who landed on top of it by jumping off the horse haired sofa to try and jumping over the coffee table, to say the least his effort was short of clearing it. After landing on it he looked at me and asked me if I knew how to fix the marble and the split into frame! Of course I did and went to the basement to get the marble glue and sealant and the wood glue along with fine grade sandpaper. One hour latter the coffee table looked good as new! I told my Daddy and he said ok and would be kept from Mom. Mom did not know until after I got married! Yah some things eventually have to be told. Mom laughed and said me and brother won’t the first to break and repair the coffee table and owned up she had tried to pick it up to move it. Instead of moving it she dropped it breaking the marble and frame! I m looking forward to more of your video’s! 😊

Your home is beautiful, and my wife and I are jealous! I've been watching your vids for awhile, and was wondering, if you are comfortable with it, could you do a breakdown of total costs? We would like to do something like this, but afraid of the price. Thanks, and looking forward to the next update.

This is amazing. You resorted it and made it better and just as Original as it was the day it opened. So amazed at your design. You probably have a lot of people who went to that school that want to see it.

You got one our old libraries tables! Many of my homework and reports for school were researched on that table. It looks great in your kitchen. Congrats on getting moved in. The school house conversion is impressive! You all have done a great job on it. Admittedly when you first started posting videos of the transformation I was a little skeptical how such a large building could be made into a very home-y family space. You did it. Very cool.

These updates don't arrive fast enough. I LOVE all the work completed. You must be so happy!!! And I LOVE the new fridge. I'm going to have to look into that water filter. I also LOVE the table and the John Dillinger story. How cool is that? I especially love the width of the table which makes it convenient for centerpieces and flowers. It completes your kitchen, which is my favorite room of any home. I just wish I had the room like you to put a bookshelf for all my cookbooks and cocktail books. I purchased a small pebble ice maker as we're into the Tiki cocktail thing. I have an almost identical area rug that you have under your sofa in the living room. The shower holders are amazing. The bathroom tile colors are so beautiful. What a great job on the roof deck. I remember all the warm rainy days I experienced in Indianapolis, and how wonderful it would be to sit up there during one. I envy your garage. It seems we never have enough room for things in ours. I dream of a workshop but that would require a bigger house, and in California, even slightly bigger can send you into the millions. I'd rather retire comfortably. Your pup is so cute. I have two cats. They obviously can not break dance. They just lay around all day. Congratulations on how beautifully it's coming along. Can't wait for the next update.
