We raised our family in Truro, Nova Scotia and so I can predict that your decision to move your young family here will be incredibly rewarding. As for the weather, the winters are pretty mild as compared to the US prairie states and the summers a lot more tolerable then Florida. Love your channel..take care.

Congratulations on your move to Canada! I have not been watching your channel for a while because I started to gravitate away from the "millennial media space" for reasons we won't go into. You and Randi are different. You guys are thoughtful about your ambitions and demonstrate a fair degree of intelligence and respect towards your viewers. Thanks for limited use of jumpcuts and absence of profanity. We old folks appreciate that. Moving your children to Canada may be the best decision you ever made.

Why not do a channel on the difference between life in Canada and life in the States. As a Canadian I have seen a lot of misinformation from your media. To begin with, not only does socialized medicine reduce the stress of living substantially, it is actually way cheaper than the US system. About half. And the health outcomes are better.

Welcome to Canada! Nova Scotia is a great place but don't forget to visit Quebec! I would start with Quebec City for its historic quality. My wife and I moved to Sherbrooke qc when she accepted to relocate for a promotion. I would also recommend a visit to Lunenburg. Oh, and Halifaz is a wonderful City. My wife and I think you are the nicest family on KZbin! All the best!

A filming suggestion for you. Consider planning a sailing cruise up the St. Lawrence and into the Great Lakes. Not only can you sail the Great Lakes. But you can also travel on the Rideau Canal and the Trent/Severin waterway. During the summer, there are numerous festivals on both the Canadian and American sides.

Wow kids, what a lifestyle change! Moving to another country was not even something I would have dreamed you would or could do. The subject of “socialized medicine” for you brings to mind a variety of questions, most revolving around just how that can be done? Do you have to give up your American citizenships? Are there residency requirements that you had to deal with? Speaking of that, will your new baby then be a Canadian? IF things are slow to start, can either of you get back into education positions? I will for sure be subscribing to your new “Learning the Lanes site! As for sailing your Corsair, the cost to tow it must be considerable, but having it is a real plus for future postings. I would imagine that will not be happening until Randi and your baby are recovered enough for That kind of lifestyle. Finally, Morgan is absolutely precious! Really happy for you both and will be ready to continue following your life’s adventures!

Awesome that you're moving to Nova Scotia. My wife and I are also Floridians and we just bought land on Cape Breton Island and we love it there. We can't be up there for extended periods yet but are planning to start spending the summer months up there next year. We'd like to move up there full time after a couple years if we can make it work out. Looks like lots of great sailing on the lakes up there.

From a F27 and F25c road driver... you said the mast wasn't legal sticking back 8-9' beyond the boat. Isn't that only if you don't have a light on it? The f-boats with masts starting at the pulpits have traveled millions of miles in USA & Canada for 30 years. Just get the lights legal. It's a lot easier than moving the mast so far up and forward. Congrats on all your big life changes ;)

@@LearningtheLines I live in NS, but I grew up in Newfoundland. I'm currently visiting my parents at their cabin in the Codroy Valley Newfoundland. The Island is amazing place, if I had internet income I'd be moving back here. True freedom, no building codes, cheap land, no land taxes(outside of the bigger towns), etc.. while amazon still delivers and there is good access to education and health care. This is the kind of place where my parents take the side by side to the hardware store. NS is a slightly nicer climate. But it's expensive to live there and lots of red tape if you want to build anything. Somehow the healthcare system is even worse shape in NS than in NL. Plan on spending a few weeks to travel the island. It doesn't look that big on paper but there are lots of place to see. Just driving across the island is an adventure. The summers are short and the weather can be harsh outside of the summers. July and August are the tourist months. Some times September can be decent.

OK, that’s it! Now I’m JEALOUS. I wish that I had a dual citizenship. What a wonderful opportunity. I am really afraid of where the US has been heading for the last several years. And I think that Canada is a much better country to raise a family. And indeed Nova Scotia is very beautiful and maritime. And in addition to being an avid and professional sailor/boater, we have lived full time in our motorhome for 6 years. ( and over 20 in sailboats). Just now getting back into a house. If you look at the world ratings for countries, you will see that Canada is a far better and safer place to live. So I wish you luck with your endeavors.
