I do wish I lived close to you so that I could apply. I'm retired after caring for my husband until he passed in 2015. The pickings are very slim when it comes to people wanting to work and having the etiquette to work. Something happened and I see a lot of entitlement and less drive. It's really just getting worse when it comes to that and certainly not better. I pray that you do find some good like-minded people soon.

So glad to see you back & your business is thriving!! I've worked in the FH industry and can attest to the fact that it's an extremely demanding business. Many people believe they can do this type of work until they're in it. It's not for the squeamish or impatient. Neither is it for those who aren't familiar with customer service because it's about helping people who're not at their best with their emotions. I've worked Holidays, birthdays, weekends, & missed family events because of the crazy hours (upwards of 16). I've reported to work looking great & left looking like I've been in a fight & sometimes I was in fights-trying to break families up in the FH, churches, family cars, or cemeteries. People can be at their worst after the passing of a loved one.

Ms Ray we all know you have to document everything. And if the staff can’t follow those instructions they need to do . Just like in Nursing you have to document everything bc you have to cover your behind . May have to have a staff meeting every month about documentation , following the chain of command, rules and regulations of the funeral home. They must sign a document To prove and show they took training . And what is the contract information that I can send a resume to you

Sorry you’re having problems hiring people. Have you thought of a chain of command. I know you’re a small business, but this often helps. Let an office manager deal with employees. Let her tell them what to do. You make sure the manager knows everything needed to run the office. You stay in communication mainly with her, not with the employees, unless it’s absolutely necessary. So many people feel picked on if too many people are telling them what to do. Create a through job description and make sure they have a copy. Remain business like. Your relationship with your mom at work was personal and friendly. You will have to be cordial but not overly friendly with incoming employees. Those who have been with you a long time have and earned your trust and respect, should continue to be treated as family in the chain and given titles to show their ranking so new hires understand the relationship and not over step their boundaries. Remember you are a business, and that familiarity breeds contempt. Good luck and many blessings to you and your establishment.🙏🏽
