I think a great way to circumvent the issue of flight in planet zoo is just to have them seek out perch points in the climbing system, and then move to those locations. I remember Zoo Tycoon 2 had something similar where flighted birds could jump up into trees.

I don't know a lot about game development, but would it be hard to add maybe 12 or so landing slots on a given climbable item and have the birds recognize them, changing to different perching positions depending on how it's angled? Sure, that would keep them from walking on the perch, but they can still land and walk on the floor. I've been to huge zoo aviaries and even macaws and toucans seem content just sitting on perches and they move a lot more when on the ground.

An idea i had before, basically like a chicken perch as enrichment item where the birds can just flight straight onto from a certain distance. Place these in trees for example and you have a network of flight paths for your birds to use

I think the main issue isnt really the animations and the 'perch points' but rather the collision with other objects when flying and the borders of the habitat. Its probably not that hard to make an animal move to a 'perch point' but if u place trees, rocks etc. The route that they have to take to get to that specific point without hitting ot flying throught the custom placed scenery and folliage.

Savannah you need to continue making Speculation and more Animal Wishlist! I love those videos SO much! but my 10 top most wanted animals for Planet Zoo are: 1. African Crested Porcupine (I'm pretty sure you know how obsessed I am with this animal haha My fav animal in reallife!) 2. Linnaeus's two-toed sloth (we need sloth in the game! I prefer the two toed instead of the three toed just because they are much but MUCH more common in zoos and I like the two toed sloth little bit more) 3. Tasmanian Devil (everyone want this animal include me! they are such a beauty and cool animals and more oceanina representation I'm the happier) 4. Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo (I'm proud that u put this animal in your wishlist we need them and I love them so much they are so unique and as I said more oceanina representation I'm the happier) 5. North Island brown kiwi (such an adorable bird they are so cute and beauty and more oceanina representation....) 6. African Spurred Tortoise (we need this animal they are so common in zoos and I need a new tortoise by frontier I'm just sure they would nailed it and they are my fav tortoise species) 7. South American Coati (I'm happy to see that u mention this animal too, they are so cute and beautiful and now south america representation which now it really needed) 8. Secretary Bird (we need them so much, more birds in general even though I'm more a mammal and reptile person but still in every zoo there is birds so we need them and this one really cool to get and I know frontier can implement them to the game) 9. Fossa (I feel this is the most needed madagascar animal there are so cool and werid and we love weird animals :D) 10. Macaws (we really need those guys they are one of my fav birds species and I love them so much and I would love to see them implement to the game, I do think they will fit for the walkthrough exhibit pretty well, even though I think for those guys frontier need to add an option if we want it to be an walkthrough exhibit or not but I think they will fit really nice) I personally prefer this year that we will get so many more new rigs animals just because yeah there is no something wrong with reskins animals why fronter need to do an harded work if they have something to work with. but I do think this year would be the last when it comes to more new dlcs so we need to get as many more new animals because modders can give tons of new cats, ungulates and stuff like that but animals like porcupine wouldn't work well with how it is in real life like there aren't really good rigs that can fit for porcupine so frontier if they will add them they will need to make a new rig for it. so that's why this year we need to get as many more "new" animals for the game. because the support wouldn't be forever but that's what I think. really good videos really enjoy with ur content savannah! well done!

I agree with the African Spurred Tortoise... we need a more deserty one. Would make a great interspecies enrichment animal with the Fennec Fox or the Aardvark as well.

Excellent wishlist overall, I'd be very happy if any of these were included. However, in addition to that, I'd also love to see... - Indian/African crested porcupine - Great white/ pink-backed pelican - Collared peccary AKA javelina - Wolverine - Alligator snapping turtle (habitat animal) OR mata-mata (exhibit animal) - Cobra, gecko and chameleon of any species

Others I'd absolutely love are: Manatees, Tamandua, Hamadrayas babboon, pekaris, Spider monkeys, Howler monkeys and if they can somehow pull it of, the Green Anaconda. Just thought of another easy reskin for some more bird variation. I'd love the see rhea

They would work with the current game mechanics, as they come onto land to lay eggs etc... if we ever get something like an islands pack, i would love to see turtles with included

I feel like the secretary bird not being part of the grasslands pack should be a pretty strong indicator that there will be a birds pack? Fingers crossed! I'm also thinking that full flight abilities wouldn't be necessary for this species, rather used to reach to their (potential) nest in an acacia tree. Overall I'd loove to see an acacia enrichment item in the game, that lions and leopards could climb in and for secretary bird nesting. Just imagine that 🤩

I completely agree with these selections! We do need more birds especially the macaws, however, I was thinking more of gentoo penguins (Mr. Poppers Penguins, I mean come on, it's a classic!) But I'm hoping for more marine species such as the green sea turtle and the sea otters (since we have freshwater otters already), and maybe aquarium displays soon. That's what I'm hoping for as far as 2023.

100% agree about needing some more of the smaller animals & love the klipspringer as an option, I'd totally forgotten about them. A number of the species on your list are also on mine ie. Tree Kangaroo, Fossa & Secretary bird. What I want most is a birds pack tho! I've said all along they don't have to fly for me to be happy, I just want them included & better represented in the game. My wish list is Kiwi, Kea, Crowned Pigeon, Secretary bird, shoebill &/or spoonbill, a swan species & a streamer duck species... a pelican species would be nice too just to round out the larger wading birds often seen in zoos. My over all wish list is basically down to 5 animals- Kiwi, Kea, Tree Kangaroo, Aardwolf & Fossa, so they are all small & I guess quirky or odd balls, but are all represented by zoos around the globe. I'll be super disappointed if we don't get some decent bird species in game & at least a tree Kangaroo, but tbh having some other small, fun & unusual species like Yellow-throated martens, Palm civet, Echidna, Coati, Pallas cat &/or Jaguarundi would be pretty cool as well & help keep game play interesting for me personally.

Honestly, a terrestrial (using that term loosely) birds pack with the secretary bird, shoebill, spoonbill, some penguins (like rock hoppers!), the burrowing owl and a kiwi would be amazing and I'd buy that in an instant! Also, definitely a parrot pack, including African grey parrots and loris! I've been to a zoo with a walk-through grey parrot aviary and one landed on my camera - that was such an amazing experience, even as I slightly worried about my fingers and camera 😂 Edit to add: Forgot to say that I would absolutely love to see more small monkeys added, like tamarins!

Adding on to the parrots could also be the Kea. Also would like the Shoebill, or another great stork could be the Saddlebill as they're absolutely gorgeous. Maybe also a Spoonbill or Maribou? Ground Hornbills (any species) and Kori Bustards would also be cool. Can you tell I'm a little biased towards my homeland birds xD I agree with needing another small cat and would like to also see the ocelot, or the Fishing Cat could be awesome. And as everyone else seems to agree, walrus and sloths are a must. Sorry for the rambly comment, may or may not be on only 3 hours of sleep due to starting a new PZ project ^^;

I'm blaming my lack of sleep on forgetting about vultures. So many good ones here in SA alone! Lappet-faced, Bearded and White-Headed being my favourite. Also adding on to your point about the klipspringer, other small antelope could be the Suni or also the Red Duiker, both are tiny and very adorable.

I like those animals, I'd definitely add a sloth species, more lemurs, including the aye aye because its so weird, a howler species, dik dik, wild ass, a vulture species, toucan, birds or paradise or hummingbirds for a walkthrough exhibit. They could definitely make a bird pack, there's enough they could add for habitat as well as exhibit and a rainforest pack would fill in the gaps on Madagascar and the amazon. Maybe tamarins or similar for a walkthrough as well

I actually agree with most of these, but I think there are some more. The burrowing owl would be nice aswell as the road runner, and some more desert animals in general, like the perentie, pekari or some small tortoise. One thing that's till completely missing from the game yet are turtles/terrapins (except the exhibit one) I could imagine the arrau turtle, giant softshell turtle or snapping turtle, these also wouldn't be to hard to implement and would pair very well with the caimans and capibaras. Water fowls are also something I'd really like to see. At least in europe almost every Zoo has this giant pond in the center with all kinds of geese ducks and swans in it. I also would love some small ground dwelling jungle animals, like the agouti, malaysian mouse deer or victoria crowned pidgeon to be left free roaming in your tropical houses. But I think the animal I would want to see implemented the most would be the marine iguana. No zoo in the world has these, as their way of feeding on algea is impossible to recreate but in a fictional game why not add them nontheless?

If we do get the supposed Avian pack it would be the Perfect opportunity to bring the Secretary bird and Rhea as habitat animals and whatever the do with the flight-full ones like hopefully, Bald Eagle, Toco Toucan a Hornbill species, Scarlets Macaw and others so if we do get an Avian pack i believe we will get the Rhea and another flightless bird like Kiwi, Secretary (Even tho they can fly) or Burrowing Owl

I'm totally on board with so many of these. While I feel you limited the "families" and neglected to include any aquatic, insect, or reptilian wildlife, I can totally agree we NEED more representation of Birds. I think the interspecies walkthrough exhibit is just the perfect option for really upping the roster count and "cheating" the number of animals in a pack. Cat wise, I'm kindof exhausted of all the cats; however, we are definitely lacking in the smaller cat families, and Ocelots would top that list for me, but I could see almost all the other non-hoofstock animals being put into an "Arboreal pack", which would continue the thoughtline of "biome"-centric packs. This could also venture into packs like a "Steppe" (perhaps Secretary Bird & Burrowing Owl....), or a "Mountain" Pack could also add to that list of options to consider. That being said, so many of these animals I feel like would not need to be habitat animals, and I could see Frontier doing something like a "Small Animal" or "Exhibit" type pack, which could also add in options for reptiles, insects, or aquatic life depending on the venture they went for. After all, you did say quite well we're really missing out on non "E-ticket" attractions (so to speak) and smaller wildlife fillers, so that could really be a smart decision to fill out the rosters across the globe. For me, my list really just lands into what would "fill the roster": We are devastatingly low in representation for Australia, South America, and specific biome and animal "families", so my list goes: A. Birds! -- an aviary pack or arboreal option here. B. Aquatic! -- real aquatic life, not just land-dwelling. I'm not saying we go the controversial route, but there's such a long list of wildlife that live under the seas and in the reefs and the abyss that just really need to be added for education and whatnot. C. Arboreal Pack -- with SLOTHS, Howler/Spider Monkeys, (I need more Brachiating animals), and as much as I don't want to say it.... something like the (eep) emerald tree boa, or a very "colorful" nope rope. D. Island Pack -- I kindof feel like this would be the "Oceania" pack and could add in ECHIDNA, KIWI, KOOKABURRA and several other filler animals from around the Pacific Ocean. I definitely feel if we're not going to get too many more Australian-type wildlife, those two would be at the top of the list to feel like you at least get a good taste of Oz (Quokka is also on the list) E. Small Animal Pack -- Finally, I really could see some sort of "boring" pack, but this really just is a "mega-animal pack" kindof filling in all the rest of the "holes" with exhibit animals, like a good 20 count, and that would not be like here's 20 colors of one animal, but 20 very different animals.

Now that the emu is in the game the secretary bird is the first in the bird list (Not counting full aviary birds), then i would love tazmanian devils, hamadryas baboon and foosas.... and for personal bias the southern pudu and the andean hairy armadillo. Now if we get flying birds i would love macaws, andean condor and the barn owl.

If I may offer my personal thoughts on your animals.... Secretary Bird - This would certainly be a major pick for me, especially considering it's already been in a zoo simulation game (Zoo Tycoon 2). The fact it wasn't included in the Grassland Animal Pack makes me think that it may be the "headline" animal of an Avian pack, something the game has been slowly hinting at with these walkthrough exhibits. Burrowing Owl - Whilst not my first pick, it would still fit in the aforementioned Avian pack. If not, maybe a desert pack. Penguins - Whilst they would be cool, I'd be reluctant to include another penguin when we already have two. Besides, I'd honestly rather have the Gentoo or one of the crested penguins (Macaroni or Rockhoppers, for example) Macaws - Maybe not macaws, but if we go with the idea of an avian pack, I could definitely see lorikeets being a walkthrough animal. There'd have to be multiple species, like the butterflies. Again, this feels like something Frontier has teased over the last few packs, so I wouldn't be surprised if we do get an Avian pack. Ocelot - Whilst it'd certainly be nice to get some more small cat rep, I struggle to see where we'd put the Ocelot without repeating packs. I don't think we'd get a rainforest pack because the Southeast Asian pack already covers that. I think they'd be most likely as an anniversary animal, if they're still going by the fourth year. Tree Kangaroo - Look, the WORLD IN GENERAL needs more Tree Kangaroos. I've seen both the species you've mentioned and they're absolutely adorable. I could definitely see one fitting into Planet Zoo. My idea for them...I'll explain in a bit. Coati - Surprised you don't get a lot of them, as they're a fairly common animal in European zoos. Like the ocelot, I struggle to see where to include them, and think they'd largely be anniversary. Fossa - OK, hear me out here, your pack ideas are cool...but what if we got an Island Pack? You could include the Fossa AND the Tree Kangaroo in there easily. Maybe include the Tasmanian Devil and a Kiwi too? Klipspringer - Definitely not an animal I'd have considered. One habitat I think we haven't got a pack for yet, in name or general theme, is a Mountain Pack, so this could work for that. Red River Hog - Shout out to your cousin, she's got great taste. It's a cool animal, but sadly I see it in the same boat as the Ocelot and Coati. Never say never, though.

I'd love a South America 2 or South America Animal Pack. Ocelot and Coati would be 2 of my choices aswell. Also I'd love to see Tamarins, maybe for the WTE, Howler Monkeys, Peccaris, Spectacled Bears, Sloths and Maras. Pudus, Tamanduas, Squirrel Monkeys, Bush Dogs, Greater Rheas or Amazonian Manatees would also be great to have in game. Great Wishlist of Animals! My prediction for this year: This year will sadly probably be the last year of support due to the recent financial report. I expect 2 Scenery Packs and 2 Animal Packs. This year will be bring something different though because because of last years DLC layout, we now maybe can have scenery packs in the spring and fall. My ideas: (Spring) Islands Pack ($7.99) Spring is full of colours with flowers blossuming and trees regrowing, and what better way to celebrate these colours is with the most bright type of architecture, Carribean Architecture! VIsit the most 3 famous islands / island chains around the world from New Zealand, The Galapagos Islands and Madagascar! @@FerociousTiger5000 I think it is, in the financial report there is a new management game coming out next year (a new "Planet" game) and I bet that it is Planet Coaster 2 or something new like Planet Aquarium or Planet Resort. I doubt that they would keep making DLC's for this game while that new one is in development. But maybe we could see "Planet Zoo 2" Eventually in a few years.

Marine iguanas are only found in a single private collection in Africa (Uganda if I remember correctly), something like the Coquerel's sifaka or the American flamingo would fit that slot better

it would be amazing to have education staff teaching guests about birds like whilst they have them perched on their shoulders and to be able to train your birds to say small things and move around. Like a talking point but specifically for birds.

I'd love to see manatees! Aquatic exhibits with fish and stingray or octopus spieces (I'm not picky). Porcupines. Quokkas. Now that they have walkthrough exhibits and the educators can handle the animals, I'd like to see the cerval and the burmese python added to these. I'd also like to see the iguanas made compatible with the walk-through habitat. Updating the animal stats (or guest behaviors) so that animals with walkthrough habitats don't get stressed when guests walk through, or changing the guest behaviors so they actually walk through at a reasonable pace instead of massive clumping inside the habitat would be nice. There are so many animals I’d love to have in the game that I could go on and on, but more than anything else, I hope they eventually add sloths, walruses, lots of flighted birds, and an aquarium dlc with fully aquatic animals like sharks and manta rays.

I honestly wish there were more non-exhibit reptiles (not crocodilians, we have plenty of those), like say crocodile monitors, or large snakes like king cobras, reticulated pythons, or green anacondas. I don't see why these can't be habitat animals when they dwarf many of the animals already in the game.

I hope there's an island animal pack this year, it would patch up a lot of holes in terms of biodiversity. My top ten: 1. Sea otter. 2. Two-toed sloth. 3. North Island brown kiwi. 4. Walrus. 5. Tasmanian devil. 6. King cobra. 7. Tree kangaroo. 8. Crested porcupine. 9. Fossa. 10. Red river hog.

Birds birds birds! Most of our native animals here in NZ are birds and my #1 wish would be a New Zealand birds DLC with Pacific-inspired building pieces! Several of our birds are flightless which really helps, most notably the kiwi of course, then they could include some of the small songbirds as exhibit animals. We also have native penguins, hoiho or little blue could work well, and the kea or kakapo to represent parrots. Pukeko are one of my favourites because they're so goofy and then related to them is the takahe which we actually believed to be extinct for quite a while. (The kakapo is critically endangered as well and there is actually a wikipedia page that's frequently updated which is a list of every living kakapo! Yes, they all have names.) Basically every zoo/wildlife reserve here has some kind of walkthrough aviary so it feels very strange to me not to have the same thing in game except for the flamingos and cranes.

With reskins I definatly don't want be payying for just a reskin you know. I think if we are going to do reskins i would expect them to be cheaper or free.Also for me personally what makes an aniaml a good animal for planet zoo is the uniqueness and versitility it has. Thus animals like artic wolf are my least fravorite because they really just a white timber wolf. If you replaced them with timber wolves the enclouse wouldn't really have to change. So for that reason I struggle with some of your picks like ocelot and more penguins. Those roles are already filled so I'm not as intrested in these animals being added and I think I'm probably not alone on that. There is still plenty of great ides in here though. Secretary bird, macaws, and Burrowing owl all sound like great picks and I can definatly see a bird animal pack in the future.

It seems like Frontier like to introduce the Unique species and/or species that needs attention in protecting. I'm surprised why species like the Kiwi bird, Tasmanian devil, Japanese giant salamander and the Chinese crocodile are not candidates by now... But to add a few others would be the Musk Ox, Lemmings, Parrots, Toucans & Hornbills and finally the leopard seal.

Burrowing Owl same with Secretary Bird and I think it would be awesome with the Prairie Dogs ^^ and maybe be in a Burrowers pack, Adeilie and Chinstraps would be adorable ^^, Scarlet Macaws and a lot of other birds that fly are definitely on my list, especially Scarlets which are my favorites ^^. Definetly Ocelot ^^ it’s one of my fav cats and it could fit in a Rainforest or Desert pack cause they can be found in the Sonoran Desert so it can be a unique desert choice ^^. Tree Kangaroos , Fossa’s and Coatis are a definite cute choice, especially the Coatis and fossa’s . plenty of tree climbers I hope we get , you can see them listed below ^^. Klipspringers is a unique choice and some more small creatures would be interesting ^^ Red River hog is a good rainforest choice and so many others I hope to see in a Rainforest pack ^^ Here’s some other species you didn’t list that I would love to see ^^. Not to talk down adelie or chinstraps, but if were to get a 3rd penguin it gotta be either a rockhopper or little blue imo. Also id prefer the margay over ocelots cus they are a better fit for the small spotted jungle cat niche, since they are small and ocelots arent. But ocelots are why more well known so they will prob make it in the game over margyas, shame :D

My biggest wish next to birds would be domestic/farm animals! 😭 I've never been to a zoo without sheep, pigs, goats, chickens, geese, donkeys, rabbits,...! Not only do these guys deserve love just as much, they'd also be realistic and cheap starters for franchise, good options for more walk-through species and good small/mid-sized animals for inbetween the big-tickets. Also think about how rabbits and chickens would be cool for many interspecies enrichments making the ground more lively! (Ideally it would come paired with a new petting zoo mechanic and some cute farm-core build items, but I'm not too keen on that, just the species would be enough!)

I'm excited for whatever Planet Zoo and Frontier throws our way this year I would love the Mongoose and king Cobra placed into the game the Mongoose is the only animal that can pick a fight with a King Cobra or any poisonous snake and be Immune to the snakes venom I would love the Conure family to be added as a walkthrough exhibit I use to own Conure birds as pets my first even thought I was a baby my mom said he was a green golden crown conure he was actually my parent's pet but no matter how hard my mom and dad tried to adjust Echo to me coming when they had me Echo was just too jealous so my parent's rehomed him to a family friend and then I owned a Sun Conure and a Sundae Conure when I was in high school the Sunday Conure is a hybrid of a Sun Conure and a Jenday Conure I would love all them and many more Conure species as walkthrough exhibit animals
