Welcome back to our brother/sister playthrough of The Last of Us Part II!
In part five of our highlight reel, we play out Day 1 Seattle again - this time from Abby's perspective. We give our thoughts on Abby, the way the game is structured, and some of the gaming community's disturbing response to those elements. We get to know Abby's friends a little better and in doing so learn that Owen has gone missing. On her way to find him, Abby is kidnapped by the mysterious religious cult known as the Seraphites, and meets a couple of kids who make her start to question who she really wants to be.
Thanks for watching! :)

I do think that, in apocalypse media, pregnancy is an overused trope to signify life/hope/survival. Often to the point where it overshadows the actual woman characters, carrying the child. In fact, often the women die in childbirth or soon after having the child. (I'm looking at you, TWD.) That's my issue with pregnancy in apocalypse stories. Honestly, one of the only pieces of media in recent years that does this trope well is 2018's "A Quiet Place," with Evelyn Abbott: her humanity is front-and-center throughout, she survives and leads her family, and her baby isn't hyped while simultaneously reduced to a symbol. If you're interested, I'd be delighted to see you discuss Dina at length, or how pregnancy actually plays a role in this story. Though I haven't watched the recent full video on Ellie and Dina yet: maybe you get into it there.

Joel is utterly disposable in TLoU2. His arc is done. He is literally played out, ready to be dispatched at an opportune moment.

You guys need to stop obsessing over hating on idiots. It just brings the vibe down 5 miles. I'm not having fun watching you talk about that stuff, and there's tons of stuff you bring up that I have never heard about, such as people complaining about Abby being strong, and that if she were a male instead, the game would recieve much more positive reviews. I strongly disagree. I have only heard people hating over the story being too scattered (which I do disagree with for the record), and Joel dying too early. And what was said about Thor being fat: that's not what people were complaining about. Some complained the way they used him being fat, because it was simply just used as a *funny* element. And the reason why the movie overall was recieved so poorly was because it was just nothing but a good story wasted due to how everything was turned into a joke in that movie.

@@Atrulion we played this four years ago shortly after the game was released. these were the narratives that we were responding to at the time and they were very much real. just because you haven't heard about it four years on doesn't mean it wasn't happening at the time and it was very upsetting for me. I was filling my brother in about it all because he wasn't aware of it.
