Brad Marchand has been playing incredible so far in the series against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Marchand's 8 points in 4 games have been a huge difference maker for the Boston Bruins. He's been a great captain for the Bruins and always plays amazing the playoffs. Marchand is now the Boston Bruins all time leading playoff goal scorer with 56 goals. He also has the 2nd most playoff points since 2011. I'm looking forward to seeing what Marchand does next.

Marchand is who he is. You love him if he's on your team and you despise him if he's playing against your team. Marchand also is what the Leafs aren't. Marchand is a playoff performer. He gets better in the playoffs. The Leafs are a regular season hockey team with regular season players. Boston has won a Cup and reached two other Cup finals over the past 15 years. The Leafs haven't done anything in the playoffs since well before most of their fanbase was born.

I think it's really interesting to think that all these years of Marchand being Marchand has culminated into him being a really good leader. Who saw that coming, all of that leading up to this? Zero PIMs too. He has just gotten better and better and finds a way to elevate his game. Now he's elevating the games of the players around him.

Bruins fan here wondering why Auston Matthews can't take over a series like Brad is doing right now. Give Auston the Bluejackets on a tuesday night in the middle of January and hes in his wheelhouse/comfort zone but come playoff time when the games get tight he does not (cannot) elevate his game. All I know is this is the 3rd time now the Bruins have played a Matthews led Leaf team in the postseason and he doesnt scare me one little bit and doesnt seem like much of a threat. All the Bruins need is a steady dose of Brandon Carlo to neutralize the guy, thats it. Edit....By the way Matthews makes more than Double what Marchy makes, lol.

The crazy thing is he wasn't some highly touted draft pick or even a great prospect in his first few years. That and he isn't exactly blessed with a grwat physique or Mcdavid-type skills. He's just always at the right place at the right time, seems to have amazing hockey IQ, and is one of the toughest small guys in the league. Yeah, playing with Bergeron for your whole career helps, but he has shown this year that he can hold his own without a hall of fame center to anchor the line. One of those guys that came in with no fanfare and took a few years to develop into an elite player.
