I remembered in one of the documentary that Stan Lee had done was called “superheroes unmasked” and how he voiced his displeasure about child sidekicks. And how the courts would go after the guy for endangering a minor, boy how times have changed on that.

Even The Joker himself hated the sidekicks because they get in the way of he and batman's rivalry.

He sure was happy to waste Jason Todd. In the comics, he was sweating from excitement while he was beating Robin with that infamous crowbar.

Yeah there doesn't need to be an in universe reason for him. The reason is he wants to fight crime. I was always under the impression batman didn't take him for EVERY mission, only some. That's how it was in BTAS (well he wasn't a kid but still) and The Batman 2004.

Arguments could be made as to why the Robins were such good sidekicks and were efficient in aiding Batman in his war on crime Dick Grayson - A trained acrobat who was easily able to pick up the skills needed not only to fend for himself, but to grow to be stronger and fight alongside Batman Jason Todd - A street rat who had already picked up an effective fighting style over his life, his boldness was greater than his fear and thanks to Batman was able to channel that rage and enhance his hand to hand combat capabilities Carrie Kelley - A girl who’s good with a slingshot and good at following orders, she was able to save Batman’s life and earn a place at his side due to her great potential Tim Drake - A master detective, almost as smart as Batman himself, knows how to handle himself with a staff and he singlehandedly was able to bring Batman back into the light after Jason had died Stephanie Brown - Already a vigilante who trained herself in order to be able to fight against her father, the Cluemaster Damian Wayne - Despite being very young when he became Robin, he was raised in secret as an assassin from birth, having already been trained in nearly every form of martial arts, and he was taught very well how to use any weapon he came across to his advantage

The role of parents is important. They should encourage their children to be brave and take actions according to their abbilities, like calling the police or get out of dangerous situations or mengle with wrong people. The children heroes can be a source of justice or good example for kids that are abused or going through hard times. Maybe I am wrong, but the question asked in this video is too broad to be easily discussed or simplified.

From an ethical standpoint, no, It's not ethical for him to have kids out here fighting crime. But if we look at things that have happened in comics, we find that the reasons for these kids being his sidekicks are legitimate and that he does take measures to protect and shelter them. - Dick: Bruce encountered him as Batman repeatedly on the streets of Gotham, looking for his parent's killer. Dick had the same anger that Bruce did after his parents were killed, and was taking the same path. After realizing that Dick wasn't going to stop looking for Justice, he revealed his secret. Later, Dick convinces Bruce to let him help. Dick even debuted his costume and Vigilante persona without Bruce's authorization. Bruce was NOT quick to take the boy on, and only did it to prevent him from fully succumbing to Bruce's own mindset. And we have also seen what Dick becomes without Bruce's guidance. He becomes a gun-wielding shoot-first-ask-later vigilante akin to the Punisher (A Booster Gold story shows this). Under Batman, he's well adjusted and better off than Bruce himself could ever hope to be. -Jason: In the original story, Bruce drops Jason at a re-education school. It was only after the re-education school was revealed to be a corrupt gang operation that turned kids into criminals that Bruce took him in and trained him. There have been several iterations of this story though where this didn't happen. But in the end, Bruce wanted to guide Jason on the right path and wound up failing. -Tim: In New Earth's continuity, Tim became Robin to help Batman emotionally. In the Prime Earth continuity though, he saw Batman as a means to an end. That version of Tim would be doing what he does regardless of Bruce. His relationship with Batman is probably what saved him on that path. -Stephanie: Bruce actively opposed her presence as Spoiler and as Robin, and used her tenure as Robin in an attempt to dissuade her from being a Vigilante. She did not stop. He accepted her after she proved herself while he was presumed Dead. -Damian: I really shouldn't even have to explain it. The kid was groomed to be an assassin that would take over the world. He had a kill count in the hundreds (Year of Blood). Bruce intervened and set him on a path that filled the boy's need for purpose, curbed the bloodlust he had been programed with, and taught him a moral code. So overall, their situations are more complex than the ethics give room for. And that is the world Batman Lives in. Bruce is trying to do the best he can by them all. There's a different discussion to be had about writers making him abusive towards them for the sake of Drama. That's often out of character, but it happens for the sake of edginess, especially in Tom King's run, or in books where the MC is one of the Robins and NOT Batman.

It’s no better or worse than the back story of Black Widow having been raised and trained as a child spy and assassin. These are fictional comic book stories and they’re allowed delve into the realms of fantasy. There again, is art that is inspired by and imitates life or the other way around? Which comes first, the chicken or the egg? Fictional literature may or may not have something to say about reality and may or may not be a study of real life issues but such themes and issues and are always open to interpretation. No two people are going to read the same thing and understand it in exactly the same way as we all bring to bear a whole repertoire of memories and experiences that make us who we are every time we read comics, novels or what have you. Let us not add Batman to the pile of literature banned by cancel culture just because the young Robin aspect might be objectionable.

if it were up to me i'd make it to where Grayson was adopted by bruce and grayson finds out that he was a vigilante and chooses to work alongside his adoptive father, bruce is reluctant but ends up deciding to train him for a few years, and then they go on patrol After grayson leaves, jason is adopted to be robin because batman needs robin to keep him clearheaded, but batman realizes that it had gone too far with these children sidekicks after jason is killed. Tim becomes robin on his own, in his early twenties Damian chooses to do it aswell, because he'd been raised to be a warrior people like carrie kelly, really make no sense and are a product of their time they were created

I understand that Dick Grayson was something special and an extremely gifted youngster, so I can see Batman partnering with him, but it's hard to see why Batman continued after Dick left. I also always had a hard time believing Alfred, Commissioner Gordon, Superman, etc. being OK with it. That being said, I have always enjoyed the dynamic of there being a Robin and multiple Robins.

In my opinion, it depends on how realistic a version of Batman they're going with, if it's set in a world as close to reality as possible like Chris Nolan's take, Robin doesn't work except as maybe an adult, if they're going for a more fantasy based version, it can be set in a world where kid crime fighters are normal. When they did the Batman TMNT crossover the sci-fi/comedy tone of the turtles allowed for good use of the Batman family, in Brave and the Bold the Silver Age inspired take llowed for some good stories with kid sidekicks. The problem is Batman was created at a time when no-one analysed comics to this extent and as the world has changed so has the ways the audience perceive the characters.

The thing about Robin being a kid is that at the end of the day the dc world is a fictional world. That may seem like a cop out answer but hear me out. In the world of dc there are a lot things that would be considered unrealistic in real life but accepted in that world. For example Superman disguise as Clark Kent is literally just glasses, in real life an average out there would’ve been figured out clark is Superman. The joker has done so much stuff that in real life he would’ve been got the death penalty. These are things where u have to suspend ur disbelief and take the world for what it is because it’s fiction

The point about the claim is probably using children and immorality of Batman comics, and the claim is based on wrong assumption. It's almost like claiming the caped crusader is real and that he is using children as well, which is nonsence. If Batman got age rating or whatever, that should be it. The problem and the main one behind it is child abuse and that is another and more complicated topic, too broad for comments section.

I'm actually a huge proponent of Schumacher Robin. I think he managed to thread the needle and find a way to do Robin in the modern age without making it too weird. All the pitfalls people bring up as to why you can't do modern Robin (he's too young, it looks like child grooming, the outfit makes no sense, you can't have a character named "Dick") Schumacher was able to solve: he's a young adult so he doesn't need to be adopted and isn't being groomed, he goes by Richard and only later occasionally as Dick, his outfit is a tactical version of the Flying Graysons performing outfits which is basically the comic accurate Robin costume. Also he manages to do the thing for Batman that Robin has often done when he's introduced in other media: he brings him out of the dark and into a more positive state of mind. And the elegance of how Schumacher fixes the problem of "well, why is he with Batman if he's an adult and can just go get a job?" The answer being: he wants revenge for the murder of his family and so Batman becomes his mentor to help guide him and make sure he doesn't just become another thug.

"Why use guns, when I can use children instead?" - This has been a sticking point for me with the character's depiction for a long time. DC comics want to have their cake and eat it too; they don't want to let go of antiquated elements of their characters because it makes them money. If you gonna have a gotdamn adult using kids to help him fight crime then fine, just don't have the same adult also acting hollier-than-thou, preaching to everyone about not using guns or killing as well. BTW in the Crisis on Infinite Earths animated movie, the solo version of Batman literally tells others how having a young sidekick is extraordinarily irresponsible and dangerous.
