I honestly would rather have Eutechnix back if it was possible, R.I.P. I don't that I've played games that had better physics then Inside Line through '15. The tracks had multi groove racing, the AI wasn't really that realistic but damn it was fun. Paint booth was the greatest thing ever. I miss them.

Monster games racers as of late have been kinda ... Well shit. The Tony Stewart games come to mind. The AI is braindead and ridged, sure that means less cautions. But it's horribly unrealistic that you would be the only one causing cautions and not only that but the fact that you still can't run multiple cars with AI teammates as kind of dumb like is really dumb it's 2022 and we still can't get that feature but at the same time you know you you ran into these cars like in his All-American Racing series game which I've played through and it's extremely easy once you get top tier equipment even on the hardest difficulty it's basically a free win every race and you can get to the top tier equipment within one season so you slam into one of these guys and they don't move or if they do move they barely move which makes it so that you lose basically no momentum using them is just ramming into them you know the AI you'd have to use at least for dirt racing the physics of wreckfest but tightened up a bit just to his rec fest I find it's a little too sloppy but full qualifying full teams full livery editor I just don't think monster games is capable of putting something out like that

Heat 5 is really solid. It’s also good how there’s a modding community, and KZbinrs like Michael Mrucz who showcase those mods. It’s a great alternative to the fecal freezer of Ignition.

The games are not simple enough to get casual gamers or young fans into NASCAR to understand the tracks, drivers and basic rules. I remember my first NASCAR game was the first NASCAR game by Papyrus..... I got to know some of the tracks, some of the drivers and basic rules in a easy format. That will make more people buy the game or better yet make it come with a bundle.... that is what happened with my first NASCAR game.... it came in a bundle with NHL '95, Hardball baseball 4, Unnecessary Roughness and PGA 486

Few things 1. NR2003 didn't have a career mode when it launched, or any updated rosters or a full field, or a yellow line rule, or any other series. You had to have a fairly good PC to run it as well. It didn't come with Busch or Trucks, both of those being fan made mods via PWF. It didn't have a full field of real life 2003 Winston Cup drivers, then again nor did any Papyrus NASCAR game however. 2. For everyone going oh we want EA to get the license...the EA. of today is not the EA of the PS2 gen. For everyone saying oh we want EA back...I don't. Look at how they monetize their games. Look at how aggresively they push an Ultimate Team style of gameplay and don't address core bugs. EA will shoehorn in the Frostbite engine, with all its bugs and have a dev studio work on NASCAR alongside other projects than pump out new card packs. Gotta get influencers to open a pack and got a 99 Dale Jr after all, gotta get that sweet sweet revenue from idiots buying card packs, then cram in a cringefest 'career' story which has little to actually do with NASCAR. Basically take the Madden formula, apply it to NASCAR gaming and you get a flaming dumpster fire however. NT2003/2004 was a whole different EA before online took over. Chart the quality of EA's games and who was in charge of EA as a whole and how they directed their studios. EDIT: What Papyrus had was a well done manual that got a buyer into the sport by being interesting and giving info on the actual sport, e.g. having a run down of the Latford system points wise in each game's manual, or the CART point system too. They had detailed track guides and information that could be taken and learned,and they didn't overdo the presentation either. You had no flashy gimmicks in the car. You had your F1-F9 menus for changing up the car, and that was all intuitive.

Also Telltale used the exact same engine for 99% of their games. That'd be like Papyrus using the Indycar 1 ening, the basis for NR1 and its track pack and upgraded for subsequent games all the way up to NR3/99... as the basis for every single release. Imagine NR2003 with NR1's engine. That's what Telltale did. They also were highly restricted with their licenses too, and paid out the ass for them and didn't sell enough to turn a profit, or when they did they just bought up the next big license. If they'd had more money and a bettr engine, they'd maybe survive but...the comparison between MSG and Telltale isn't that accurate however.

I'm fairly certain NASCAR Racing (1994) did used the same game engine as Indycar Racing (1993) IIRC they didn't to a new game engine until NASCAR Racing 3 (which was still a heavily modified version of the previous game engine). NASCAR Racing 4 used a beefed up version of the GPL engine (IIRC). You're correct about Telltale, the one game engine they had wasn't flexible enough to do what they were trying to/needed to get out of it. Tales From the Borderlands was their best all-around effort IMHO.

IIRC Indycar 2 was a from the ground up engine that was used for NR2/NR22/NR3 and then 4/2002/2003 used like you said the GPL based engine yes, but sources vary on if NR2/ICR2 was awhole new engine or not though. I was on a stream of Austin Ogonoski‘s Where he said that he predicts the company to shut down in the near future. If they continue down this path there will be no NASCAR 21. I personally feel like the last game to capture the true community feel and fun of a video game was NASCAR 09 on the PS3/360. The game had full race weekends, league support, lockers to share setups and schemes, ESPN and MRN live feeds, VoIP, Custom schemes online, a server browser to find races and it limited one person per driver which pushed custom schemes to be created and used. I have no hope that we will ever have a fun game ever again.......we will get companies that just make difficult to play sim racing titles instead with limited features.

The biggest mistake NASCAR games have made was dropping the NASCAR Modified division. What they should do is have Monster Games remaster Dirt To Daytona or just bring back the modifieds in the games. I also agree that since Nascar 2015 I haven’t really enjoyed any of the games I’ve played that were nascar based. Some stuff needs to change, and bringing focus back down to Nascar’s grassroots divisions would probably attract atleast a little more attention from casual gamers. My only 2 requests here for any future NASCAR games are these: bring back the Whelen Tour Modifieds, and bring back Monster Games. Monster Games wasn’t great in their later titles, but they got much better over time compared to the NASCAR Heat Evolution back in 2016.

I got frustrated with console NASCAR games and switched to iRacing when I got it Christmas of 2014 and never looked back (I am 27 now). I had NASCAR Racing 3 for PC then went to NASCAR 08 for the PS2 and then the Eutechnyx games for the XBox before switching to iRacing. I agree with you that no 8 year old would easily find success on something like iRacing, so they would have to learn the basics of racing through console (not to mention the higher investment of a good computer and wheel setup whereas a $60 game you can just plug and play). I also want to add that console is geared more towards the casual gamer and PC is geared more towards the hardcore racing experience, two different target markets which is ok imo. Idk much about gaming but I think consoles can only do so much for the amount of space on a game whereas something like iRacing can be almost unlimited as they have servers and can release updates? I'm not sure how true that is, but it would explain why the quality of console NASCAR games are low and iRacing is quite high? I think console NASCAR games will struggle unless they team up with an established PC company (Papyrus and iRacing for example) to help them out as I see all the ones creating games from scratch on their own ultimately fail.

I'd be very surprised if we got a NASCAR game this year, or an IndyCar game even NEXT year... and ANY Get-rich-scheme always ends up backfiring... and to break it all down, Crypto/Bitcoin/NFTs is essentially is a money pit.... and don't be surprised if Motorsports Games gets bought out by a company that actually CARES about quality racing games and/or Motorsports Games files for Chapter 7 bankruptcy... and this whole experience taught me that you SHOULD ALWAYS CHECK THE REVIEWS first before pre ordering the game..

It's funny I caved and bought F1 2021, which blows my mind that Steam is still pushing 2020 for $60 and 21. I googled IndyCar video games, cause you know Murica, and F1 is all slicked back hair, french bread and cheese Europe. With only COTA, which in my mind and opinion, fuck that track, big whoop, as the only US track. Yes this year irl 22 F1 is going to Cota and Miami?? FL for 2 tracks in good ole US of A. Ok back to my point, I looked up IndyCar games, and yes it says 2022 for the game you mentioned...but then my heart just sank into my all american gullet, when you said that's its pushed back and not even slated for their future products...damn... Why doesnt a gaming company pick up racing games? Like real racing games. Not just Forza in mind, to me that's arcadey racing. The market is bigger than you think for NASCAR and Indy. At first i was just looking at them as being incompetent, but the more i've seen, i'm convinced they are actually part of a huge con. The only hope we have is for Nascar to either pull the license, or open it up to ANYONE who wants to make a Nascar game. The lack of competition is the biggest reason we keep getting disappointing products. Motorsport Games is clearly focused on ESports and monetization opportunities that don't lead to better games. The CEO actually promoted NFTs as being part of their overall plans.

I know I'm not the best to give a fan's opinion on the future of NASCAR gaming, as I've only played the first NASCAR Racing from Papyrus, NASCAR Heat Mobile (quickly gave that one up [not quite a fan of career mode-based games, which that is- just give me the racing, and let me decide if I want to do a career mode]), and NASCAR Thunder 2003. However, the shitshow with NASCAR 21: Ignition, as well as the games from 704Games, have me hesitating on picking up any NASCAR games beyond NASCAR SimRacing.

Hey do you play IRacing with a full setup. Wheel, pedals etc? I want to try IRacing, but dont have the room for all that atm. And I'm not really a fan of the whole subscription, on top of pay for cars and tracks. I mean if I could play for hours, everyday then I'd jump, but yeah...my point is can you get by in Iracing with just a controller (doubtful correct?)

Rn* and yeah I'm mainly a oval, dirt oval racer on it and I have won a dirt race with a controller so you don't really need a wheel to start unless you do road courses I would say.
