One of the biggest announcements to come out of D23 was the Secret Invasion trailer. Secret Invasion has been a show that we've known about for awhile but now we really have a good sense of what the show will sound and look like. Will the MCU's Secret Invasion differ vastly from the comics? In today's video, "We Need To Talk About Secret Invasion", I discuss some of the differences and similarities I see between what's happened in the Secret Invasion comics and what I think the Secret Invasion MCU TV show is going to try and do. Gotta be honest rob. I’m a middle aged comic character geek. In the 70s I was big on them as a kid. Not nearly what I would say “knowledgeable” like you. But then I buried it in the 80s. Was afraid to say I was a Star Wars and Comic geek. When I stumbled on your channels? It was like A gift from upon high. You’re absolutely right about the tone of the next few phases. BPWF, Antman quantumania (confirmed to be a dark painful movie for Scott), GOTG 3 (lots of death and loss happening), secret invasion, Echo, Loki season 2 (directly setting up a huge serious movie in Kang dynasty), Blade, daredevil born again. It’s gonna be a BRUTAL phase 5 but I’m 1000% here for this tone shift

The She-Hulk series is already setting up a Civil War scenario because the Wong Vs Blaze court case set a precedent for people with abilities to be forbidden for practicing them in order to protect the public. It also established that the courts have jurisdiction in those matters. Previously the Sokovia Accords placed people under the direct supervision of the UN when applied to international activities but Jennifer's case has granted similar authority to the US government.

I feel like Kingpin is going to come into play somewhere in the future too. I mean he also took on all of the worlds heroes and sent them underground, and Vincent Dinofrio is a huge name. I doubt they'll reserve a villain like Kingpin and a talent like Vincent to just a television series. He's gonna play into major conflicts at some point in the future.

One thing not mentioned, is the connection to Agents of Shield. SLJ’s character exiting the show co-exists with the Scroll’s we see in the movie. Fury stated his reason for leaving and giving Phil Colsen the position of head of Shield.

I had the wildest most vivid MCU dream the other night, where I was watching a movie that featured Annihilus killing almost everyone and then Franklin Richards (with his herald Galactus) rescuing the remaining heroes and then resurrecting or summoning various heroes from various timelines into a new universe. It featured a pretty hype reveal of a bunch of heroes returning similar to the reveal of heroes coming out of the ship in secret invasion combined with reed's life raft in secret wars. It featured a mic top reveal of Wolverine. Ended on an Avengers Infinity War type cliffhanger where the heroes knew they had to prepare for Annihilus' return or some shit.

I think the MCU has been foreshadowing dark times are coming for a while now. Wandavision, Loki season 1, What If season 1 and Falcon and the Winter Soldier all have indicated that shady things are happening. Worse things are on the way. Moon Knight and Chung chi even opened the door to the idea there are dark forces out there that no one is ready to handle. Then there's Kang who presumably has overtaken ALL of that and more. We are going to get an introduction to THAT guy. Things are going to get dark. To quote Wade Wilson from Deadpool 2, "Are you sure you're not from the DC universe?"

So I have a theory, based on how marvel does shift things up and how we think we know everything until the rugs pulled from under us it’s that it’s the Kree that are the secret invasion. 1: MCU does that heavily 2: we’re expecting the shapeshifters to be the issue but overlooking that the Kree literally already look human. In captain marvel Carol let Yon Rog free to go back to the supreme intelligence so they know even more about her and about earth 2: Laswell was Kree and already a high level military official so it’s simple enough for them to already be everywhere 3: the passing dialogue from FFW post credit scene went something along the lines of talos bringing up “how did the kree get sleeper cells here” or something like that (I’m paraphrasing) 4: the blip made it easy to replace people that were already gone, easy enough to replace and change their careers or just flat out making up new people because the world is that hectic to keep full track of who disappeared and who exists now. 5: the font literally looks like kree uniforms and colors Various little but highly important pieces that were put out there that are finally culminating potentially. Like I said on Nerdist, if I’m remotely correct I’m doing a $100 charity donation so wooo let’s hope I’m right

Honestly, I cant wait for Armor Wars. I believe Doom will make an appearance. He doesnt have to. My pet theory is there is more than one group of Skrulls. Talos is on Fury's side, that of the 90s refugees. What I am hoping is that Secret Invasion sets up Teddy Altman as an innocent Skrull resident of Earth. Another idea I wonder if the MCU could bring in is Nick Fury Jr. Honestly, Samuel L Jackson is advancing in age, so it would not be unreasonable bringing a hidden son of his, who has been off, maybe in the military, under a non-Fury name.

I hope you're right because I don't care for the campy/humor everywhere MCU. My favorite MCU movie is "Winter Soldier" because it was gritty, had limited humor in the right places, intrigue, and action! Stakes were personal and not just another faceless CGI army. Of course I loved Infinity Wars and Endgame despite the faceless armies and humor because it was still well done. Add in Civil War and that's about as far as I go. On the tv side I really only truly enjoyed "Falcon & Winter Soldier" since it took on "Winter Soldier" vibes. Then "What If" since the episodes were dark/serious mostly. WandaVision and Loki were decent but couldn't stomach the other shows that have come out.

Iron Fist was already canon the moment it was made and released. If you're someone that doesn't necessarily count that, then the moment we saw Charlie Cox's Daredevil in No Way Home and D'Onofrio's Kingpin in Hawkeye was the very same moment that Iron Fist was shown to be in the MCU, as the Daredevil show connects with it in Defenders and through the other Netflix shows. Also, Misty Knight was in Luke Cage, Colleen Wing was in Iron Fist, and that actress is not Simone, she looks older, among other things, I'd say she's closer to Gina Torres, and even that's a bit of a stretch.
