Whether it's hard or soft reboot, I'd be fine with it. If they try to make a smaller, more intimate MCU, that would e be fine too. Not every movie has to be a block buster!

Yes, definitely agree, I'm good with whatever happens, although I definitely prefer a soft reboot. Let me know what you think about the questions I pose regarding the reboot, but I do suspect it will be a soft reboot that will give us some new characters as well as a final goodbye to some legacy characters.

Good point about Spider-Man 4. I agree, that was definitely a soft reboot. Perhaps we'll see more of that in Phases 5 and 6, leading up to Secret Wars. Great theory!

I think that it will be a soft reboot, similar to the CW’s Crisis On Infinite Earths. They’ll use it to answer inconsistencies and recast/redo some characters.

Yes, that's what I think as well. And you raise a good point that the CW did more of a soft reboot than a hard reboot. On the other hand, the comics version of Crisis was a major hard reboot. And it appears that the DCEU is getting a hard reboot as well. Wild stuff. But yes, I think Secret Wars will be a soft reboot and will bring lots of new characters into the 616 universe. Should be awesome!

I think a soft reboot would be the way to go. Fold in the X-Men, Defenders, Punisher, The Runaways, Cloak, Danger, and then recast T’Challa, Cap, and Tony and then let the MCU continue but slightly differently with all the characters we love finally interacting regularly.

Kevin has said that the events of No Way Home are because of Loki. I think that implies that Tobey and Andrew's films are chronologically after Loki, as they didn't exist before then.
@AbitofEverything4U
@AbitofEverything4U Жыл бұрын
Yeah, his statement is interesting. But I wonder if another way to interpret Feige's comment is that the events of NWH that are possible because of Loki is that the borders between the multiverse are fractured thanks to all the nexus events and that's what allows the spell to go bonkers and pull in variants from other universes. At the end of the day, it likely doesn't matter per se if the Sony Spidey verses existed before or after HWR was killed, but I guess that's how I viewed what appears to be several "sacred timelines" all wrapped around each other prior to HWR being killed at the end of Loki.

what…? he said that because HWR died in loki which allowed the timelines to exist again & for stranges spell to affect them. Something that you may not have really thought about, which you usually leave no stone unturned and I LOVE it, is that even when watching some of the best marvel has to offer, a lot of people, including people who may be watching it for the first time, I think already know the BIG climaxes because Marvel is so intwined with culture. I mean most people with a social media account have seen a Tony Stark dies meme or something about Thanos and 50%, my endgame viewing was ruined by spoilers you just couldn't avoid. This is just something small, but it's honestly pretty dang impactful on would-be fans. I witnessed this firsthand with my girlfriend, sometimes just watching all those movies when you know the big ending feels bad and redundant.
@AbitofEverything4U
@AbitofEverything4U Жыл бұрын
That's a really interesting point. Yes, I do suspect some new fans may already be aware of some of the biggest twists and turns. But I would imagine it's still fun to watch the movies/shows play out even if you've heard rumors of some of the big reveals. What makes the movies so great isn't just the big reveals, but also the journey of seeing the fantastic cast live out each moment. So funny lines, as well as the sad and heartfelt lines are ultimately the real heart and soul of the MCU. But I do agree that if a new fan can avoid the spoilers it makes it all the better. Anyway, great comments. Hoping that new fans can still find the magic of the MCU, even if some spoilers sneak their way in. Thanks so much for sharing your feedback!

As a college student with way too much time on my hands, every time a new year rolls around, I rewatch the entire MCU just to jolt my memory for the coming year. I've been doing this since I was in high school so I've done this around 7 times. At this point, I don't even really pay attention anymore, I just have them on in the background while I do other things because I love all of the content and it refreshes my memory on some of the smaller details of the MCU that might be used in future films. This being said, the MCU is horrible for new fans because of the overwhelming amount of content needed to fully catch up on the franchise. For someone with enough time for maybe a movie or show every few days, it could easily take newcomers months to fully catch up not including if they get burnt out which is incredibly possible. I sincerely hope we get a reboot after Secret Wars so that we older fans can get something fresh while the new fans aren't as overwhelmed with the content. That being said, I will still probably rewatch the entire MCU multiple times afterward anyways because I'm a masochist and can't get enough lmao.
@AbitofEverything4U
@AbitofEverything4U Жыл бұрын
Too funny! Yes, I am a masochist as well and love to rewatch the MCU and I do think new fans, while initially overwhelmed, love the fact that there is so much great content to watch. But I do completely agree that Feige's big task with Secret Wars is to find a way to keep the rich history of the MCU intact in some form (rather than a complete do over) but also make a launching pad for new fans so they don't feel overwhelmed and can join in. In a way it's like the Bond films or the Mission Impossible Films or even the Fast films. Bond has been going on since the 60's and MI since mid 90's and the Fast films since the early 2000's. All of them have an overarching story that is connected (Bond films to a lesser degree) but they also feel like event movies when a new one comes out and so people go to enjoy them w/o feeling they have to binge watch the previous ones. So Feige has quite a big job ahead, but hopefully he's up to the task and we get something really special with Secret Wars. Thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts. I really appreciate it!

Great video. Honestly sometimes I wonder if it would be a good idea to have a new "main" universe that starts from 0 so they can tell the stories they want or retell some we already saw, maybe have Cap in 1940 working alongside Wolverine and show the original human torch or things like that. That way new fans could start from 0 without fully starting from 0, but I guess it could be messy for everyone to follow the movies and shows if there are 2 or more main universes being developed. Anyways I think if they want people to care about otehr universes in Secret Wars, developing them before it happens (well with how close we technically are to it there's no much time) would be a great idea, yeah What if technically does that, but since they are 30 min episodes they have to rush a lot of things and have to rely on the viewer already watching the other proyects cause they don't have much time to add and develop new characters (I think s1 only new character was Cagliostro) so creating a second universe to develop stories wouldn't be that bad. About MCU being 616... honestly I prefer a shorter number than 199999 but it made things confusing to use the main comic universe. But I guess they eanted to say the Movies multiverse isn't part of the comic multiverse, that way they have excuses for contradictions in movies to the comics like América Chavez saying she is the only one in the multiverse when we know she has a counterpart in the comics. About rebooting after Secret Wars... well it could be cool to have a "point of end" to be able to leave the MCU and say I watched it all, kinda like Ben 10, I stopped watching after Omniverse because it was the last show of the Ben Prime and the reboot was for a new audience
@AbitofEverything4U
@AbitofEverything4U Жыл бұрын
Wow, great comments as always! I'm with you that I do wish there was some way to incorporate the stories we were denied due to studio licensing issues, such as Cap and Wolverine working together in the 40's. But I'm glad the MCU has a chance to finally bring in the other heroes we've been missing and that we can finally see some of the stories with the characters interacting going forward. I do agree that bringing in a variant w/o much intro prior to them appearing could be jarring. But I guess that any origin story is abit jarring in that regard. So I think if they handle it carefully, it can work. As for the 616 designation, I agree it was strange for the renumbering to occur, but I think you nailed the main reasons for it. America Chavez is a good example of why it might have been done. And regarding a hard vs. soft reboot, I really hope they don't do a hard reboot. Your example of Ben10 is an excellent reason why a hard reboot is not a way to go as it might make long time fans peel off and stop watching. But a soft reboot could bring in so many cool possibilities going forward. Thanks so much for your excellent commentary. Always enjoy hearing what you are thinking!

@@AbitofEverything4U About soft or Hard reboots... well, Hard reboot will make some long time fans stop watching but I think as fans we're very incested in this universe and we want to follow it from start to finish before passing away, if the pandemy taught us something is that we could no longer be here tomorrow, my aunt who I used to watch the MCU with didn't got to see Infinity War or Black Panther, I wish she got to see Endgame at least and see a conclusión of the first 10 years of movies (she was a very casual fan so probably she didn't care too much about not watching it but still I think she should have seen the end of the first chapter) Honestly I'm so invested in this universe that a part of me doesn't want it to end but the other part wants it to have an end at some point so I don't go with the regret of never seeing the end. And honestly if the MCU ended I will 99% watch New Marvel Studios movies cause I like them (unless the quality drop a lot) but I think I accomplished a goal.

Incursions... huh. I heard there's gonna be an incursion plot point in The Marvels. Love how everything is tied together. On the 616 issue, I think it makes sense. The MCU is 'base reality', it's an adaptation of the comics. It's base universe from a meta level is 616. The comics and MCU are different fictions, but the MCU being based on the comics, also names its base universe 616.

Supposedly Tom, Tobey and Andrew have voice cameos in Across the Spider-verse, so it sure seems like they are hinting that they are tied together. But only time will tell.

About the comparison with variants of big characters, they could solve this by bringing variants that have different personalities and stories to be somewhat different from the OG ones. Like bringing Superior Iron Man... He's Iron Man, but clearly isn't the same and isn't here to completely replace RDJ but to bring something new to the table.

I've heard this and I'm of the opinion that it won't be for several reasons. But the biggest one being it's a business. If the movies continue to be hits and the shows are successful. It's going to be one hell of a hard time convincing investors that this franchise has been largely successful for them. Needs a reboot. Especially at a time when Pixar and Lucasfilm aren't doing too well for Disney. Marvel, I don't think they're going to want to shake the boat. Also, I don't see them launching new series like Eternals, Sam Wilson Cap, Thunderbolts, Shang-Chi and then start messing around with soft and hard reboots. Like are they really going to have Sam as Captain America, only to soft reboot Steve Rogers one movie into his run? Same with Ironheart and Shuri. Disney has invested millions and millions dollars and time. I just can't see them rebooting when there's really no point in doing so. But I agree that it's a shit ton of content for new fans. But I just can't see Disney rocking the boat with a franchise that's successful.

Completely agree with you about a hard reboot. Would be a terrible idea for the MCU. However, a soft reboot like 2015's Secret Wars story is a much more likely possibility. My theory has been some of the 'new' characters like Moon Knight in phase 4 have actually been set on an alternative Earth from the main 616 earth, then Secret Wars will reveal that these two separate earths are in incursion and by the end of it it will be similar to the classic 616 and ultimate universe combining and then the next saga will begin
@AbitofEverything4U
@AbitofEverything4U Жыл бұрын
Interesting theory. That could end up being the case. I guess we need to wait and see what Moon Knight's next appearance tells us. He is supposed to get a S2, so maybe it will be more firmly planted in the 616 MCU or maybe your theory pans out. I could see it going either way. To your point, I am wondering if Werewolf By Night occurred outside of 616. That seemed really separate and plus Man Thing is the guardian of the Nexus of All Reality in the comics, which allows going between universes. If the MCU goes in that direction, then Man Thing could indeed be in a different universe. Thanks so much for watching and sharing your theories!

There's an idea I've had in my head as to how I would handle Secret Wars as a movie and I wanted to know your feedback. I think it would be genius to take elements from the Fox and Sony universes, i.e. Ghost Rider, Blade, Deadpool, Spider-Man (preferably Andrew Garfield), Tom Hardy's Venom, and the X-Men & Fantastic Four. These would preferably be McAvoy and co.'s X-Men and Miles Teller's group as Fantastic Four (As I think Teller would be good for the Ultimate version of Mr. Fantastic). Use these characters and put them into one big VARIANT timeline (meaning all of their movies happened and in this timeline they coexist) and make that their take on the Ultimate Marvel Universe. That would be the best segue into even a hard reboot if they wanted to, though I am much more for a soft reboot. Good video as always! I personally didn't think Phase 4 felt like homework, but heck if it wasn't a little rushed. It's a little sad to me to think they spent ten years building up to Endgame - it was a carefully and passionately constructed (mostly) project that paid off well. That the next three phases are from 2021-2026 is crazy to me. They're giving themselves half the time to make what seems like astronomically more material. I expected it to be as long if not longer in terms of buildup and pacing. Just my opinion though!
@AbitofEverything4U
@AbitofEverything4U Жыл бұрын
Great comments. I had not considered the idea of creating an Ultimate type universe, but that would indeed be an interesting idea. I tend to think that the goal of Secret Wars will be collapse all the universes, or perhaps leave the Sony universe intact, but use Secret Wars to collapse it down to one or at most two Sony universes, thus putting Morbius and Venom in either Toby or Andrew's universe. But I do see the benefit to creating an Ultimate universe as a result of Secret Wars. That's an interesting prospect indeed! And I also agree that while Phase 4 wasn't homework, it did suffer in quality. They need to fix that in Phase 5. I'm fine with alot of content, but it can't be rushed. It needs time to fully bake and get the story, as well as the CGI, fully all nailed down. If it means less content in Phase 5 to get the higher quality, then I'm fine with that. Again, excellent comments. Thanks so much for watching the video and sharing your detailed feedback. Really appreciate it!

That's a great idea, and though it wouldn't mirror any specific universe from the comics like the Ultimates, I think it would be cool if the same was done for the 2000's cast so: Spider-Man, Hulk, Blade, Fantastic 4, maybe Daredevil if Ben wanted to for some reason, maybe Punisher and the og X-Men. Though having both of these combined variant universes would be a lot for one Secret Wars film so maybe it would be best to keep that new Ultimates universe instead

I find it interesting on how little people talk about spider man NHM as the first real crisis event to cause a soft Reboot on the mcu. It’s all about rewriting the past: the “retired” spider mans and their universes come back, the dead characters from those movies (except Harry and Brock) come back to life and stay that way, this movie connects the Sony verse to the mcu definitely, it erases all of what happened with tom’s spidey on the mcu (just him has the memories of the events, but for everyone else the events happened differently without him). That’s the most soft reboot that I’ve seen and it was definitely an crisis event for marvel.

Fascinating analysis. I had never thought of NWH as a reboot, but I can see your point. If they handle Secret Wars like NWH, then I will be really happy. It kept all the history from the past for all of the Sony and MCU spidey movies, it gave new futures for the villains w/o erasing the original movies (my assumption is it created a branch when they returned to their point in the timeline, which means the original film's story is untouched), and it gave Tom's spidey a new and different future via the memory wipe spell. Great point about this being an excellent soft reboot. I love it! Really appreciate you watching and sharing your thoughts. 22:38 That's why I always recommend Moon Knight (and Werewolf by Night) to people, because those seem to have the least connection to the rest of the MCU. Honestly don't remember how much Shang-Chi mentioned of the other things. She-Hulk seems to be a bit stronger though; I think some people could feel like they are missing something without knowing about Bruce Banner or Wong (though Dare Devil seems to be the opposite of that; I still haven't seen the DD-series, but I loved every second of him in She-Hulk (phrasing)). Notice how all the non-connected entries are all solo-movies for new main heroes. On the left of your list all entries are for existing main heroes. The biggest exception to that seems to be (my beloved) Kate Bishop (You could argue that the show isn't hers since it's called »Hawkeye«, but then again she is the next Hawkeye by the end, no?). On the other hand, I'd say that »I am Groot« is so short and has so little dialog/story that you could move it into the right section. You don't really need to know who the Guardians are to enjoy Groot being a silly little plant, but then again you could say the same about anything really as long as doesn't have any major missing pieces Anyway, my two cents; Cheers! Merry late Xmas and a great new year
@AbitofEverything4U
@AbitofEverything4U Жыл бұрын
Great analysis. Yes, it seems there were a fair number of solo series and those are the ones that required the least amount of homework. I do agree that She-Hulk required some homework due to it having several easter eggs, but I suspect if someone had watched Shang Chi, it might have addressed most of them. And yes, I absolutely adore Kate Bishop and wish she was on the right side of the chart instead of the left side. But that said, the Hawkeye series did a good job of keeping new fans from feeling too left out. And I am Groot was simple enough for new fans to enjoy, as you point out. I think that the lessons learned from Phase 4 are important going forward. It's good to have solo projects as entry points for new fans and it's also good to have projects that are more closely tied into the rich MCU history. A good mix makes newer fans still feel welcome but older fans feel like the history matters. It's a tall order with a connected universe, but I think it can be done and Feige is just the guy to do it. Thanks for watching and for the excellent comments. And a belated Merry Christmas as well as a Happy New Year rightbackatcha!

Stumbled on the Video. Great video 👍Soft for sure. It's rumored that the Mutants won't be here until at least 2027. They may have to retcon a lot and where they have been. Soft rebooting solves it. They may finally kill off the Fox XMEN and Fox FF, collapse the Multiverse into one earth, and of course separate the other Spiderman movies and universe as the only multiverse that exists and the Mutants, The Avengers, and FF etc have always existed. Everything in the MCU still happened but You can jump in anywhere and get a great story. Its a risk, but hopefully it works out.

I think it'll wrap up as the first six phases come to a close. Sure there will be additional team things setup for in the universe that haven't touched upon (Additional Spiderman sequels, Thor 5, Midnight Sons, Young Avengers, Defenders, etc) but those don't NEED to happen before Secret Wars. I think after the universe is restored after the Avengers movies, it'll be a MASSIVE showcase of the Xmen. It'll essentially be a fresh jumping off point that if you wanted to go back and view phases 1-6 as some of the characters that survived that will still get projects, you can. But the Xmen are just as marketable and have enough content stretched out well enough that they could do another 2-3 phase saga with the other main heroes playing a secondary role and help out with the team up stuff. That's why I think Dr. Doom should be saved for after Secret Wars personally

I have a question about 13:18. If that's the Spider-Man from the 1960s and the Miles Morales from the 2000s, was Spider-Man brought to the 2000s or was Miles brought to the 1960s? Good question! I should have been more clear in what I mean about it being the spiderman from the 60's and Miles from the 2000's. What I was meaning to say is that they had their histories intact all they way back to their first appearances, which for Peter would be the 60's and Miles would be the 2000's. However, the story is present day in the MCU, which was 2015 at that point. Does that make sense? Sorry I didn't say that more clearly. I was really just focusing on the fact that it was a soft reboot and that all of Peter and Miles long and rich history in the comics was still intact.

@AbitofEverything4U
@AbitofEverything4U Жыл бұрын
Very well could be that you are right on that. But I guess I thought the Sony timelines may be part of the Sacred Timeline. Check out this interview from Michael Waldron: screencrush.com/michael-waldron-interview-loki-heels/". In particular, he says: There’s always like different permutations and instances happening. The TVA has their own barometer, their own gauge of what constitutes a deviation from the baseline, the way it’s supposed to go. The way it went that produced He Who Remains. That is their baseline. And so they are constantly calculating, “Okay, we see how time has always...” If you zoomed in on the timeline, it wouldn’t necessarily look like a straight line. It might look like almost the intertwined strands of a rope fluctuating and spiking here and there. When it becomes a problem for the TVA is when, according to their own rules, when could something branch off in a way that it could actually produce a new timeline that could produce a new version of He Who Remains? That is the practical thing that they’re guarding against. So that's why I think the Spidey timelines are part of the Sacred Timeline. They don't create nexus events, so HWR allowed them to exist. Anyway, really appreciate you watching and sharing your thoughts. Love the dialogue with fellow MCU fans!

not finished the video yet but i just want to say i'm forever grateful for 1984 secret wars because we get bombastic bagman out of it (and the black suit i guess) Edit because I finished the video: So I do think Secret Wars is gonna be the hard soft reboot to the MCU. The reason I said that is because, if we pay attention REALLY closely to every details in the MCU, there has been (very) soft reboots here and there like Black Widow's "family", Tony having Edith glasses but apparently didn't deploy destroyer drones when Thanos rained fire on the field, Wanda (and maybe Pietro) having powers inside her all along (so is she an X-man??) and not a result of the Mind Stone experiment, the whole weird situation with uncle Ben (like did he even exist? I don't need to see a new uncle Ben but somehow NWH kinda convinced me he's never there even those Homecoming and FFH sprinkled clues here and there that he existed). Namor and the Eternals and the real Mandarin are just....there while Thanos committing mass genocide. Also like they kinda forgot Harley Keener (the kid in Iron Man 3), who more or less can be an Iron Man protege and Pepper Potts who already has the Rescue suit in favor of adapting Iron Heart. I like Riri but unlike the comics, there are already too many people who has the connection with Tony's legacy in the MCU so it's kinda "eh" for them to just like, well, the comics have Iron Heart so she's there I guess. The MCU has been doing little retcons here and there throughout phase 4 and I personally consider them (very) soft reboots. Secret Wars maybe the way to thread everything together, who knows. (Side tangent because this video makes me realize all the multiverse shenanigans had either directly or indirectly linked to Dr Strange. He is the one who looked into 14,000,605 end results and stop at the 14,000,605th one despite there are infinite end results out there, letting Quill having his tantrum and ruining the team effort and Gamora's "sacrifice", leading to Black Widow and Iron Man's sacrifices because "there was no other way". Throughout the 2 films many people (read: analysists and fanfic writers) had pointed out numerous way for the team on Titan to win and maybe even with less sacrifices and time travel shenanigans. So, Strange deliberately let Quill screw up, offering the time stone leads to Vision's death and half the universe getting poof'd. Leading to the time travel where Loki began his shenanigans and him and Sylvie killed Kang, tear apart the sacred timeline. Strange also didn't communicate well with Peter Parker despite knowing his tendency to run his mouth and not knowing about magic, cast a spell that open the border between the multiverse, and then kinda antagonizing Darkhold influenced Wanda, then dreamwalked into his variant's dead body, initiated the incursion. Clea is right to make Strange clear up the mess both he advertently and inadvertently caused lol) About all the Secret Wars end results, I'm with you with the part about not wanting RDJ's Tony and Evans' Steve back, but if we can see variants interacting with each other it would be cool. I'm more interested about how they would handle the Fantastic Four (will there be a joke about how Human Torch has two variants who looked like old Cap and Killmonger haha) because the team has the worst luck with the film adaptations. Also while we're on the Osborn getting crossed over ride, how about in the Freshman Year universe, there is already a Miles Morales (or Jessica Drew, or Gwen Stacy, etc) who is already friend with Peter Parker and both getting transferred into the main universe and we get the Spider-man legacy or something (yes I'm wink wink nudge nudge-ing about getting Miles Morales into the MCU) (My comment is a mess but thanks for the video, as always)

Great comments! Yes, you raise a very good point that Marvel is more than willing to do retcons (in fact I did a whole video on it due to there being so many of them) and you could indeed view a retcon as a very soft reboot. Excellent comparison. I do suspect that Secret Wars will be another soft reboot by bringing in lots of variants into the main 616 universe but I don't suspect it will be a hard reboot as I think Feige would be annoyed if he had to "start all over". Marvel seems to have alot of respect for long term fans and thus they try to keep the rich history intact rather than re-writing it, even if they do several retcons here and there to smooth out the wrinkles. I really do love your idea of getting a Miles Morales from the Spider-man: Freshman Year storyline and I could definitely see that happening. And yes, I'm so glad that we got the Bombastic Bag-man. So I knew this was never going to happen but I thought the coolest thing for phase 4 to do would’ve been to start off with a solo movie of a hero weve already seen but from another universe say the ultimate equivalent and over phases 4 and 5 they would release these movies for a completely different universe where they get origin movies and then eventually an ultimates movie, and as the phase goes on it becomes more obvious incursions are going to happen so then they could’ve had a whole split fan base that prefers the ultimate universe movies (maybe they could’ve been more indie and less mcu like) and then when the inevitability of them colliding arrived before secret wars they could see who fans wanted from what universe and combine them as they did in the comics. It’s very out there for marvel but imagine if the first phase 4 movie was the superior Ironman played by someone else in a more the boys style of movie, you could have a borderline villain Ironman then in secret wars rdj could’ve beat the life out of him making his obvious comeback even cooler, i knew it was never gonna happen but that would’ve been a really cool and creative thing

Yes, I totally agree. If Marvel really wanted to make a parallel to the 2015 Secret Wars, then creating an Ultimate type universe prior to Secret Wars would make sense. That said, my theory with Spider-man: Freshman Year is that it is basically an Ultimate universe and will be folded into 616 during Secret Wars. So perhaps Marvel did take your idea after all!

@@AbitofEverything4U true they are obviously also doing that with the what if stuff and multiverse stuff but it would be nice if we had one other universe to stick with and grow, maybe that’ll be the case with the illuminati universe but sadly I don’t think we’ll be getting any solo movies set in an ultimates style universe soon. Maybe with the freshman year like you said, that seems to have most of his classic iconic villains maybe they’ll be merged into the live action movies, been needing a sandman, doc oc and electro in the main universe

I am okay with a soft reboot, though, if it is handled similar 2015's Secret Wars, which I go over in the video as well. If the MCU goes in that direction, then they could potentially fold in characters from other universes. Let me know what you think if you watch the video. quick question, do the character from MCU 616 remember living without the other characters that might be folded in in a soft reboot in their timeline, or are they brainwashed into believing they always lived together? for instance, in CoIE in the CW DC universe, we see the main Flash cast all remember the other hero’s being in their own universes, however, they gained new knowledge, allies, and different friends because of it. A couple of the villains from early flash seasons were rereleased bc of the soft reboot but they don’t remember being caught yet team flash does remember, so how might it be handled in the MCU? Do we see Dr Strange remember the previous timeline or does he think he’s always coexisted with the X-men and Fantastic 4?
@AbitofEverything4U
@AbitofEverything4U Жыл бұрын
Excellent questions. If the MCU patterns themselves after the 2015 Secret Wars comic, then I suspect that whether a character came from the 616 or a different universe, then after they are all folded into one, they will each remember their past histories from their original universes. I don't suspect the MCU will use Secret Wars to re-write past history, but just create a new single universe going forward with the past histories intact up to the point where the single universe is created. But that's just my guess. Things are wide open for Marvel to do about anything they want to do. I just don't see it being as hard of a reboot as the 1985 CoIE storyline. It will be closer to the CW CoIE storyline or the 2015 Secret Wars, in my opinion. Again, great question. Will be very interesting to see where things land. My idea of how the multiverse was around for a while is not because they all existed without nexus events but because the show loki actually happened way back at avengers 1 because the events that happened in the show were all due to time travel. So really the events of the show happened in the past.

Loki diverged from the sacred timeline in 2012, but then was taken to the TVA which seems to be outside of time and then of course Loki and Sylvie travel to the end of time to meet HWR. If they don’t the MCU will inevitably become a house of cards and no doubt it will eventually buckle under its own weight Trying to come into anything after Secret Wars without a reboot will be nigh impossible, the longer the MCU goes on the more difficult it will be to get new fans to jump on

The way I see it, the multiverse existed, Kang made it one universe, silvi killed him and the time branched through all across the timeline meaning when Silvi killed kang, it made it to where the multiverse always existed. This is how we have the Sony universe, x-men universe, etc.
@AbitofEverything4U
@AbitofEverything4U Жыл бұрын
I definitely think you could be right. The only reason I think the Sony/Fox universes might have been part of the sacred timeline that He Who Remains created is based on something Michael Waldron said in an interview: "And that’s just how time works. There’s always like different permutations and instances happening. The TVA has their own barometer, their own gauge of what constitutes a deviation from the baseline, the way it’s supposed to go. The way it went that produced He Who Remains. That is their baseline. If you zoomed in on the timeline, it wouldn’t necessarily look like a straight line. It might look like almost the intertwined strands of a rope fluctuating and spiking here and there. When it becomes a problem for the TVA is when, according to their own rules, when could something branch off in a way that it could actually produce a new timeline that could produce a new version of He Who Remains? That is the practical thing that they’re guarding against" That indicates to me that as long as Sony and Fox didn't create a nexus event (i.e. create a Kang), then they were allowed to exist. But that's just my guess based on his quote. Your theory could be correct as well. Thanks so much for watching the vid and sharing your thoughts. Really appreciate it!

Great comments. I totally agree that we can't predict how people will feel about the MCU in 3 years, but that's the dilemma that Feige has is that he has to predict how they will feel as Secret Wars has to be planned out pretty far in advance. So hopefully he is hedging the same bet you and I are hedging that people won't want a hard reboot and that a soft reboot will be much more welcome. I think a soft reboot allows them to bring in lots of the characters we've been missing and sets them up for an exciting Phase 7 and beyond. It's awesome to think we are even discussing a Phase 7, since it is so far away, but that's the beauty of what Marvel is doing with their stories. The Tribunal then travels to the House of Ideas to ask his master the One Above All for approval to do so, and he says yes, the Avengers are correct, there is no more options, they must bring stability, balance as well as peace back to the multiverse again, and with that, the Tribunal snaps his fingers which resets everything. We then get one last ominous scene to finish off Secret Wars, set an unspecified amount of time later, with the MCU's Professor X and Wolverine making their debut to tease the new Mutant Saga, while the fates of all our old MCU and non-MCU heroes is left unanswered... for now.

Oh wow...now that would be wild. You raise a good point about the Living Tribunal and other cosmic beings, as they have been slowly introduced in several movies and shows, so I do wonder if they will play a role in Secret Wars. @@AbitofEverything4U Yeah I do believe there is a good chance they will, I mean we have already been introduced to a few cosmic entities as it is, like the Celestials and Eternity. The Tribunal would especially make sense seeing as how he has a major role overseeing the multiverse on TOAA's behalf so yeah, that is what I believe could happen. Also, according to a scoop by an incredibly reliable source on Twitter by the name of MyTimeToShineHello, in order to not make Secret Wars a four-hour movie, Kang Dynasty will just be focusing on the MCU heroes we all know and love finally assembling again to form the New Avengers and fighting Kang, but then for Secret Wars the story will be told from the point of view and focusing ONLY on non-MCU heroes from previous franchises going up against him! Imagine how cool and epic that is going to be to watch on the big screen if this turns out to be the case.

I think it’d be interesting to focus on a new universe as a focal point, like if this is a film adaptation of Earth 616 then maybe we could see a new film adaptation for Earth 1610. Explore the Ultimates, and maybe change up the history since the MCU has already taken many liberties from ultimate comics. Anywho it may just be interesting

I think you can see soft/hard reboot as more of a spectrum than a binary thing - some reboots are more complete than others. An example of a true hard reboot would be the Amazing Spider-Man movies - the older trilogy is not connected to it at all, this is just a new version of the story. DC comics has never really done this because there's always an in-universe story of how the universe changed. On the other side of the spectrum, a true soft reboot would be something like James Gunn's Suicide Squad. It's designed as a standalone movie while still existing in the same continuity.
@AbitofEverything4U
@AbitofEverything4U Жыл бұрын
Interesting perspective. I see your point about how DC's 1985 Crisis is still one linear story going forward so I guess it could be considered a soft reboot in that regard. But I still consider it a hard reboot since the history of the existing heroes was completely rewritten. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, etc were totally rebooted and nothing that came before had any meaning, other than it led up to the Crisis series. I much prefer something like 2015's Secret Wars where universes were collapsed, but the history of the characters, such as OG Spidey and Miles, were still kept intact. Their universes were drastically altered, but their history wasn't. So while you could argue both Crisis and Secret Wars were soft reboots, there is such a huge difference between the two. That's why I'm hoping the MCU gets a treatment more like 2015's Secret Wars than 1985's Crisis. But just my feeling on it. Really appreciate you watching and sharing your thoughts!

Who says the multiverse does exist before he who remains died? Time is relative, this kang variant lived in a place beyond time, who's to say his death wasn't occurring simultaneously through time? Who's to say the great multiversal war didn't happen because he who remains died? Sort of like a Loop of itself, we perceive it as the now since Loki aired today, but As far as we know if the past present and future all exist simultaneously, then his dead could've been in the past, it could be in the present and the future, thus sort of affecting everything everywhere all at once lol.

Very well said! Things happening inside time and outside time get very confusing. The Avengers Time Heist occurred inside the constraints of time, but then Loki was pulled outside of time and his actions resulted in the death of HWR, which then impacted those inside the constraints of time. So your point is very valid that it's all very confusing to sort out. There is a cause and effect between the time heist, Loki getting caught by the TVA, HWR's death, and the re-birth of the multiverse, but some of those things were inside and others were outside time. Can make ones head explode for sure! Thanks so much for watching the vid and sharing your thoughts. Really appreciate it!

I am in favor of a hard reboot. this time they adapt the characters in the right way, with the Mutants and Fantastic Four existing simultaneously with the Avengers. Adapt the classic line-up, with Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man and Wasp. And correct certain mistakes made by the mcu, like making Wanda and Pietro not be Mutants, making Hank Pym old and not being Ultron's father. And fix certain arcs poorly adapted by the mcu like God Butcher and Hulk Planet.

Those are some very compelling reasons to do a hard reboot. That said, I kinda hope there is a way to get all the things you mention, but to do it as a soft reboot in the process. l think that the MCU has actually had a decent amount of opportunities to introduce these things throughout Phase 4, and Secret Wars might be the last big opportunity for this. l was really a fan of the idea of Scarlet Witch pulling a reverse m-day to introduce the x-men and l think a lot more could have been done with No Way How and Multiverse of Madness regarding a lot of these things. l trust what Marvel is doing and l’m sure it will work out, but l just don’t want to end up with another DCEU, which l think we can all agree is kind of a mess.

I don't think the amount of minutes to watch to catch up is to intimidating. I myself started watching marvel during the pandemic in late 2020. I had never seen any marvel property until then. I first only planned to watch Infinity War & Endgame because I thought it would be great movies to watch during the pandemic but had no plan to watch the whole mcu until I decided to do it anyway because otherwise I thought I wouldn''t understand everything in those two movies. So I started with Iron Man and phase I. After the first six movies I was sold. Then watched al the Phase 1-3 movies from september 2020 - may 2021. So i watched all movies from the first three fases in 9 months. Yes there was a pandemic so I had less to do in the weekends. But I still had my study, work, sports, friends and other hobby's. It also didn''t feel to overwhelming. And I was still catching up at the moment that WandaVision, FATWS and Loki aired on D+. Yes phase 4 makes it harder to catch up to everything but I think that if someone truly likes the MCU in phase 1 and 2 when starting to watch it, they will also watch phase 3 and 4. But it is a fun ride. Will that take new viewers a year or a year and a half? Yes, but if you like it why wouldn''t you watch al of it?

You stated it perfectly! I think that's the beauty of the MCU. It has been so well produced that even if someone wants to watch just one or two movies, they get hooked so early on that it makes it a joy to watch everything. I hope Marvel feels the same way that we do, because a hard reboot would be such a bummer. But a soft reboot, similar to 2015's Secret Wars in the comics, would be a great way to bring in characters from across the multiverse and create the potential for lots of great new stories for Phase 7 and beyond.
