this didn't fix the lack of basic masculine clothing in the sims, it just served to make it more obvious that there's a clear disconnect between what players are actually asking for and what the sims is putting out. we could already take off the masculine/feminine tag and have masculine sims wear skirts and dresses, there is not a lack of options there, we wanted more basics because we truly are missing that.

You really hit it here. They tried to be progressive but just failed to make anything worthwhile. These skirts/dresses don't fit the male rig better than the female ones fit it so what's the point? Then everything else has weird cutouts that no human would wear. Meanwhile male sims still have no good jeans, flannels open over shirts, normal lightly textured sweaters, etc.

My main problem with this kit is that the kit is high fashion, it's not really usable for your average male sim. Even the sweaters which I find "decent" are kind of ruined because of the tears, I could probably find a CC creator who has way better items that this pack has. Basically, I'm not against the concept of this pack, but I would like if we got some BASICS before we moved onto the high fashion stuff

With each pack we get some "normal" clothes, albeit not as many as we would like when it comes to menswear. But people who want this sort of thing never get it in a regular pack. And frankly, I think it would be even less popular if they got what *they* want (for a change) in a regular pack than in a kit that we can just not buy. This kit is certainly not to my taste. But I've seen so many people in the past year saying "I wish we got some more true high fashion menswear." They would like the kind of clothing we see on Harry Styles, Jared Leto and Jaden Smith. So while I'm not going to be buying this, doing this in kits is something I fully support.

I like the idea of the whole “breaking down barriers” thing, but it kinda sucks when masc frame sims have always gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to CAS, and when we finally get something specifically for masc sims, there is still a huge shortage of traditionally masculine CAS options. I genuinely think Discover University had the best CAS items for the different genders, there is variety but pieces that the sims community would actually buy. Like the pieces looked like “normal” clothing but still have swatches that are more unique.

I didn't like most of the stuff in it. How many pairs of tracksuit bottoms did we need? Like noone wears those except for sport here. And sport isn't really a big part of university either. You go to study one topic, maybe you join some societies but sport is not exactly most people's choice. Then the rest of the trousers they made too short so they look like the sims have all had growth spurts and couldn't afford trousers which actually properly covered their ankle bones. Was actually very disappointed with the clothing in that pack since it seemed so out of place. Maybe it made more sense for American universities (since it was weird to me that there is no kitchen in the halls, when here most people go to self catered halls so there are full kitchens).

As a guy I’ve never been impressed with the clothing options for male sims in sims 4, and here is a pack that continues that trend. Firstly I get the whole inclusivity of adding feminine clothing like skirts for guys, but when the masculine options are so limited already, can’t they just allow the existing feminine clothes to be worn by men via a toggle switch and spend the dev team’s time on giving us any actually decent masculine clothes instead? Even the basics of masculine clothing are still missing 7 years down the line! I’m the first to admit I don’t get high fashion, I hate the cut outs especially the armpits, I think it looks dumb to be honest. And I know dlc is optional, but high fashion never really would make sense for my type of gameplay.

It’s a really big shame that multiple very versatile pieces were stuck together with a pitiful three swatches when they could’ve been separate with more swatches and mix and matched. I’m almost certain that CC creators will split them but it’s just a bit of a shame since the sims team almost always seems to miss the mark when it comes to full body outfits or grouped items. The general feeling remains the same: _disappointed but not surprised._

I’ve got 3 big problems with it 1. I hate it when they collab with any brands. I don’t want subtle advertisement in my game. 2. I agree with the textures. They’re just this side of too alpha 3. When the community is begging for more male sims clothes, it seems odd to choose a brand that is gender-bent. Like I get wanting skirts that fit the male physique better but we can already have those kinds of clothes if we wanted with options in the game. I feel the sims is really struggling with regular content. Like the couches thing where every couch is fancy. I think they try to make everything too unique and miss the mark. But maybe there was a real want for this? I don’t know. I won’t be buying this one though and I’m disappointed.

Well with the feminine clothes in game and even some of the hairs they don’t work well on masculine sims, same for vise versa which rlly makes no sense for things like freaking sweaters- they should work on fixing this and adding more to the catalog overall before they do crazy high fashion that most ppl won’t wear. We don’t even rlly have many good jeans for masculine sims and some of the current hairs that should work on both frames don’t even look good on one frame compared to the other lmao. I was honestly a bit excited to have more options that aren’t strictly masculine for male sims but this just wasn’t what ppl wanted tbh.

Honestly I think it would have been nice if all of the pieces were separate, and had tons of color options. It just seems kinda sucky that you have to pay 5 bucks for a handful of clothes, most of which seem to have a pretty neutral color palette, which isn't a bad thing, neutral clothes are nice, but having a neutral palette *and* more patterned, colorful items would be nice and make sense in my mind with this being fashion-oriented. I also kinda just wish that there was more stuff for male Sims, it is desperately lacking in that department.

The MAC collab still baffles me because that should've been such an easy slam dunk. People have been wanting more makeup styles forever, which is why makeup cc is some of the most popular mods for the Sims. MAC is one of the top known makeup brands. How did it go SO wrong? Literally all they had to do was put in some good, wearable looks with maybe a few more editorial styles and instead they gave us the ugliest makeup looks I've ever seen (sperm eyeshadow anyone?), lmao. I like artsy, editorial makeup and even I found the styles they gave us bad. In general, the Sims franchise has so much potential and people are seemingly desperate to throw money at it for more content. And yet, they keep making half baked, cheap, untested releases. I guess when you know people will buy the absolute worst stuff you release, why bother with quality assurance? Just use your paying customers as beta testers.

I'm not a fan. We finally get more men's clothes, and they're all feminine. I'm trans, nobody is more for busting down those gender walls than me, but I need more masculine clothes in my game. I already have a gazillion skirts and dresses, I don't actually need any more, even if they are marketed toward men. If they do want to bust down those gender walls they can make it so the feminine clothes we currently have fit masculine frames propertly. Like watch these not work with feminine frames at all. Also if I get this all my male townies are gonna be walking around in skirts which isn't really what I want even though I'm all for a fabulous man in a skirt or dress lol

I work in the industry and while I agree they should change the naming here - traditionally clothes for masculine framed people are labeled as menswear so the consumer knows what frame they are shopping for 🤷🏻‍♀️ I haven’t tried the pack yet but I’m sure if you tried to put these clothes on feminine framed sims the shoulders would be wider, torso length would be longer, etc.

i really wish as far as clothing options go for pushing gender boundaries and breaking barriers and all that, that they'd just edit the shading on existing clothing so you could put a "womens" shirt on a male sim without it giving him boob shadows. i really think its so limiting to offer all the clothes for any gender sim, but not let you have a no-boob-shadow option, if that makes sense. a lot of the feminine clothing bottoms (pants and skirts both) also don't fit male sims the same and honestly look quite bad with such a low-rise. mens/masculine fashion IRL is a lot less diverse than womens/feminine fashion, so i don't really hope or expect that sims makes a ton of new masculine clothing, i just want to be able to put the feminine fashion choices on sims without it giving them boobs :/

The Sims has been giving us the shortest stick for the longest time. Just hire cc creators to make the content. I’m gonna say it, it seems like the kits are just EA’s way of seeing how many people in the sims community are willing to pay $5 a month for a CC creators patreon to get sims content. They’re basically doing what CC creators are but overcharging for it, and under delivering. If a CC creator came out with 3 fashion sets in a month you might pay a maximum of $5 for it, but for EA it would be $15 and on top of that you would be getting less customization. Kinda sad imo

I appreciate that they're trying to bring more "out there" fashion to men and include more feminine types of clothing for men, but they shouldn't be charging money for inclusion like that. Also as much as I know Kits are "niche" for those who are interested, it generally seems like nobody wants them lmao. They're too small and boring imo and I'd rather spend more money on a stuff or game pack because there's much more to offer with them. The "excitement" in kits wears off in about 2 seconds

I think the next release will be either a game or an expansion pack. Maxis were advertising for a world editor a few weeks ago, as well as animation engineer and sound editor.

I think kits in general have been a little bit more alpha than is usual for the game (think the leather couch in the industrial kit). I suspect it's because they are overpriced for what you get, so the team are making them a little fancier to make them more appealing.

I think you voiced my thoughts entirely, the items are good models of that particular clothing brand, if its going to be in the sims, then great. But I wish they had filled the hole we have in masculine clothing first, before bringing out this kit. A lot of these items, especially the full body looks, don't feel like they have to be gendered to me, so i hope they aren't glitchy on feminine frames.

I would love an expansion pack that's based around Scotland! You could have a world full if lochs and hills you could eat the foods learn the culture and dress the traditional way! There could even be isles off the main world which you could visit by taking a ferry across!

I certainly am all for breaking gender norms for fashion - but half of this stuff just looks... terrible. It might look better on real folks? But None of this stuff speaks -breaking the norm- other than slightly applying grandmother's macramé to a sweater or two. Which... nobody wants in modern fashion, as far as I can tell. Men's fashion is already ridged as is, with hardly any changes to classical looks. I don't feel this set reflects any real change in boundaries. I feel like I get better ideas from like... Japanese street fashion. But, who knows. Maybe it's sets like this that can allow western folks to push the boundary a little further. But... yeah... def never buying this pack. So much potential... sigh.

I think I'm going to pass on this one. So far I've purchased the Blooming Rooms, Fashion Street, and Courtyard Oasis kits. I absolutely do not regret the Courtyard Oasis kit. I'm on the fence about Blooming Rooms. I can't think of anything nice to say about Fashion Street, so I won't. It seems like I like the build mode kits, I guess. Thanks for sharing it with us! I hope they come out with a proper expansion soon!

Here in Brazil it literally costs 30 reais (US$5.31) and the minimum wage is US$1163 (US$206) while in the US it is US$5 (28 reais) and the minimum wage there is US$7.25 (41 reais) per hour, and the workload is 35 hours per week, which is 253.75 dollars ( 1432.90 reais) per week, which in a month is 1015 dollars (5731.6 reais). In other words, the price is 10 times more expensive

This is the first kit that I don't care for and I'm not going to buy. Everything else has had at least one thing that I enjoy (except Bust the Dust, I keep that turned off because it's so tedious vacuuming all the time). Think I'll just stick to finding male/masc framed cc, even if it is alpha (nothing against alpha, I just wish there were more maxis match options).

I really want to see an expansion pack based on New Orleans. I know they've never done one based on an actual city before, But I really think New Orleans would be such a fun element to add to the SIMS. Imagine the architectural features, all sorts of elements, How about French Quarter ! And then the people and style additions could be such a hoot! Cajuns! Cajun food! Imagine having MawMaw Thibodeaux who can bare knuckle box an alligator. Speaking of alligators... they could be animal additions, are they pets? Nuisance animals? Or Food source? You decide. There could be Voodoo, or Santeria... The history of which runs the gamut in New Orleans. I would pay good money for such an expansion pack.

I agree with a video James made a while ago where he said Kits should be used to work alongside cc creators. I don’t remember the specifics of that video, but I think that would help them sell more kits and just help the reputation of kits in general. I’m glad they’re using them to make diverse content from around the world, but I think also working with cc creators would be great.

It’s sad when you see a sims kit and think about how many exciting things CC creators can do with the mesh like fix the textures, or separate pieces that may have been more useable separated. I’m way more inclined to buy the pack if CC requires it, than for the items alone.

Everyone said that and I agree. What we need is more cute basics that a Basic Boy sim can wear and not just one or two fashionistas with very specific tastes in clothes. Even with CC basics are hard to find since CC creators also often try to make it sleek and fashionable (I would really love some hair that doesn't look like my sim spent two hours on it, for both male and female sims). Also they need to learn that you can't push boundaries before establish the baseline. It's like building a Coca-Cola factory when you don't even have water supply yet :(

I've seen other people say this as well and it's like there's nothing wrong with men wearing skirts or fem type stuff but there isn't even good just normal everyday wear for men and I think a lot of people would be more open to this idea if it was this type of stuff mixed with normal just everyday jeans and shirts that don't make a guy look like he just rolled out of bed or shopped at the dollar store for some white shirts that would end up with grease stains. I'm not dissing people who dress plain in this or shop at cheap places but we need basics that don't look just bad ig? idk what word to use not really bad but they just aren't good
