The thing is, these experiences/tickets/events have now become VERY expensive and it’s not just the physical ticket which costs a fortune, it’s the parking, travel to venue/accommodation if you need to book it, babysitter (if you have kids), food etc. the whole thing is realistically a f**king fortune in a world where majority of people can barely afford to eat. You have to remember, a TON of people never, ever get to experience these things but, for the people that can, it almost has become not worth going because the whole experience is so unenjoyable.

100% accurate. I consider myself pretty well off with a good job and even I feel like I couldn’t afford to do this. I have a mortgage, car payment, insurance, 3 kids to feed, a dog, etc etc. Not to mention the ever rising cost of groceries and gas. I couldn’t imagine spending close to $1,000 for all of this for a one night concert. 🤯🤯🤯 Concerts truly are highway robbery. People also paying out the yin Yang for tickets to Morgan Wallen too! It’s sad, because concerts are fun and can be a really great experience/memory for many. Just not realistic for a lot of people that can’t afford to pay that…. :(

I’ve been to many but it was long before prices got to be what they are now. Long ago I read that concerts/touring is where artists make a lot of their money. I’m not a fan of TM as they have a fee for everything. I think a lot has gotten out of control with buying tickets for concerts.

I mean at the end of the day Taylor is responsible and she is also to blame. I know Swifties will literally kill you if you ever criticize her, but it doesn't matter. She's the face of the brand and it's on her to properly vet these people and know what is going on. Swifties will never ever admit that things are her fault and it honestly sours my taste of the entire fandom. She's almost a billionaire, she deserves as much criticism as people like the Kardashians. This obviously isn't a comparable situation, but think about Travis Scott and Astrofest. Yes, very different and that involved people dying but bear with me. Even if it's true that he couldn't see people from stage of hear them, he is still to blame because he didn't properly vet his team and he seemingly didn't know what was going on half the time. That's his responsibility as the artist and face of the brand. Don't kill me for saying that, I know merch issues aren't comparable to what happened there, but hopefully you see my point. This culture where Taylor is a God and everything is her team's fault and she's never to blame ever is so out of touch and people need to hold her to a higher standard. She's not a helpless victim who has no control over anything. Sorry, I really had to rant because I'm so sick of it.

@@princessmorebucks that’s very true! people can get very riled up, especially if drugs or alcohol are involved. videos i’ve seen from her concerts show how packed full of people they are, and I worry about young fans accidentally getting hurt (lots of tweens attend and they’re small and can be hard to spot unfortunately). People are absolutely rabid when they see their favorite artist and concert etiquette is often forgotten when the hype and adrenaline kick in. Obviously Taylor doesn’t have “mosh pit” shows, considering the genre of her music, but people can still get trampled or worse. I mean i’ve been noticing that “moshing” is happening at almost every concert regardless of music genre so people’s behaviors are clearly changing (i’ve seen people try and mosh at indie concerts that only have slow guitar music… yikes!) it’s definitely something we should be more concerned about, especially those of us who are adults.

Everyone who buys a ticket should be able to use their receipt code to choose one item of exclusive merch off their tour, outside of lines. Pretty silly they can't just give you a code with your ticket to put in an order.

I didn’t buy merch but attended night one and had a very positive experience. Everyone was really nice and bathroom line only took 10 mins. I was even able to buy alcohol and that line took five mins. It sucks now everybody had a good experience though

Honestly a lot of TS fans are super homophobic, like I totally understand why she's flagging and not coming out. I'm a lesbian and i've been attacked for talking about stuff thats really obvious to queer people and has to be deliberate, but some of these swifties are so homophobic that they'd rather assert that Taylor is dumb and doesn't know what she's doing than consider that perhaps queer people are noticing things that reference our history and Taylor knows what she's doing because she's smart and knows how to flag and is well aware of how her queer fans are treated but still wants us to know that the fruity stuff isn't a coincidence.

I've always found camping outside of stores weird, even for Black Friday. This is a whole other level considering this store has a small fraction of what a big box store would have, let alone the prices being inflated and over priced. You're still paying for your internet and your heat when you're away from home, why not just stay at home until you gotta leave for the actual concert? I really do hope that everyone keeps their merch regardless of if the washer destroyed it or not, since it'll be a reminder of how monopolies destroy the consumer's wallet.

I love her. I grew up with her. She’s had a profound effect on my life since 2008. But I am SO beyond disappointed in this era. Selling the same album 10 different ways. Making a trillion bad remixes. It’s been nothing but a cash grab, and to me it’s so obvious. And now this. When they’ve proven it can be done well (rep tour). It just feels so wrong, and there’s NO way she doesn’t know. All it takes is one post or one call, and she says nothing. It’s like she’s just going through the motions. Her last few eras in general have been a complete cash grab. The only differences between the four different Lover albums was literally the photo inserts (not even the cover), and still you had fans buy all of them. Midnights had that buy all and make a clock nonsense. Folklore and Evermore were her stripped dow era, so she didn’t have ridiculous ways to sell the albums, just different covers, BUT THERE’s about 15 different “remixes” of Willow (they all sound bad), to encourage fans to stream more.

"All it takes is one post to address the TM situation and she said nothing" Honey, she DID post her outrage on IG over the TM situation and trust me when I said it's complicated for her to completely blasted out TM because of her exclusive contract with TM. She will be PUNISHED if she said something wrong in her IG post. 3. Why she did not use the rep system again? Its because TM was not benefited from that system cos it worked so well to block out the scalpers and benefiting real fans so they FORBID her to use the same system again. FYI, TM got a lot of extras fee from resellers btw. 4. About the merch prices: a large portion of money went to the venue, artist almost never get a say about the merch prices. 5. Stop blaming Taylor about the things she can't control in her concert venue.

I’m a Gen Xer boomer and I kept all my concert tickets - my first was REM on a college campus for five bucks. Nothing makes me feel older than the obsession over Taylor Swift and what it costs to see her perform and buy t-shirts. Even for big popular bands in the past, you didn’t have to sell your car to get tickets and merch was easily available.

It’s so sad. My first concert in 2005 the floor seat tickets were $50 and every other seat was $35. I know that was a while ago but jeeeez, the markup on nosebleed seats is absolutely insanely. I wanted to see The Rolling Stones and nosebleeds STARTED at $600… and that’s before all of the extra fees and taxes that TicketMaster globs on. I went to TS Vegas night 1 with my bestie, who is a Swiftie...I'm a new fan, and just starting to get into her music in the past few years. We waited to get into the venue, waited in the merch line inside for 90+ mins (and several items we wanted were sold out)... then I waited over 30 mins for a restroom... I waited 30+ mins in a food line and didn't even make it halfway when I had to abandon it and rush back to my seat because I ran out of time. I was hungry and shaky the whole concert. All I wanted was a damn bag of potato chips, which was the only thing I could eat, because I have severe food allergies and couldn't even eat most of the food available at the venue, and my tiny snack I had in my purse was confiscated at security. I LOVED Taylor's concert so much, she was amazing, but the pre-show experience was really bad.

So in Vegas there were several merch trucks outside the venue (the wait was hours long, so we waited until we were inside) and there were several (idk how many though!) smaller merch tables inside the venue. My tickets were on the floor so there was a merch table down in that area that I think was only accessible to the floor seat people. It still took about 90 mins just to get through that line.

I absolutely hate that venues refuse to let anyone bring in their own food and/or drinks because of what you just mentioned. A lot of people including children have food allergies or strict diets they have to abide by, but are left with crappy food options at these events and venues. Often times these types of events are several hours long and if you can't eat or drink any of the available items at concessions you're basically screwed. It's the greed at the upper levels of these events and venues that make everyone have a miserable time.

It really is so disappointing! Every concert I go to, I always buy a shirt. It’s such a great way to commemorate such an exciting time. My show isn’t until June in Philly, but I was holding off on buying any merch online (due to cost, sheesh! $$$) knowing the money would be better spent getting something to remember the experience by. Now I don’t even want to waste my time in a merch line. I really hope something changes…but I won’t hold my breath. The extent that Taylor fans go to show their love and admiration…making the bracelets and planning the costumes…not to mention the money and time spent and the Ticketmaster fiasco we all went through…kinda just breaks your heart.

As long as you’re not looking to get something that specifically says the location & date of your show, you will most likely be able to find the clothing (shirts/sweatshirts) on her site. I think the last concert I went to was Taylor Swift Red when Ed Sheeran was with her and I decided it would be my last. The show was great but LiveNation has ruined the concert experience, imo. It's hard to have fun when you feel like you're being bankrupted for a T shirt and a bottle of water. It was probably way less expensive then than it is now.

Live nation ruins so many festivals that I love as well. Went to okeechobee last month. Paid an extra $200 just to have air conditioned bathrooms and the bathrooms were clogged, y stocked and half the bathrooms didn’t have any air conditioning. Plus they weren’t checking bands half the time for the bathrooms or camping. Was a waste of money. Ended up using the port a pots most of the time cuz they somehow ended up more put together.

I just read a Yahoo news article that they posted care instructions for the merch on Taylor's official site and they're offering replacements "for cases with extreme fading" or something along those lines. It's wild to me that there can be so many people involved in the planning/facilitation of these events, and then when it comes down to it, it seems like so many people (who's literal JOB it is to organize events) are not familiar with how best to optimize even basic queues. Like... is this the first big concert in the history of the world? I felt that way at the Elton John concert in Phx last November. It was chaos in a mob, which given the current social climate especially isn't really a safe place to be. The staff and security members seemed overwhelmed and out of sorts as well. Also, they could have made SO much more money if they just had more merch trucks/stations. Like... more than double whatever they're scalping off of the public already.

I just wanted to say thank you for mentioning people with disabilities who may not be able to stand in lines etc. Personally, I’m not particularly fussed about merch, but it’s amazing how often it’s just assumed that we aren’t interested in live events, when in reality, it’s just very hard for us to navigate them due to inaccessibility, lots of us would love to do more things like that. Not just specific to Taylor Swift of course, but it’s just nice to see someone like you acknowledge it :)

the quality is what pisses me off most. I have probably 50+ shirts, sweaters, hats, etc. from small bands that cost half of what taylor charges and the quality is 10x better not only in physical quality but the artwork as well. her designs are flat out ugly. why do we think the things selling out quickest are the most basic designs? I adore taylor but it’s frustrating to see. my fav band is citizen and they have such great merch. beautiful designs, reasonably priced, and i’ve had shirts from them from at least 8 years ago that i’ve washed with all my other clothes hundreds of times, 0 fading. and I don’t wash them inside out in cold water, I just throw them in. it’s not impossible or even hard to get it right if small indie bands can do it. her merch has always lacked imo but I was really hoping to see her step it up for this tour :/

Sincerly am impressed with how you were able to voice frustration while still being relatable. You were right to acknowledge and remind us, that we are lucky to even go to a concert as ticket costs were so obsene. Then on-top of it the food and parking prices! That said, because the uprising cost, the experience should be all around that much better. It's really sad, punishing people who are real fans. You're right also to point out that some of us, have to work in order to afford to go so offering sales a day in advance on-site isn't helpful. Your explanation of the long lines for the bathrooms and concessions makes sense 😢 There is a valid need for change in some of these venues and planning. If you aren’t worried about wearing it now and just want to have it for years to come for memory reasons.. check eBay/online in a few years. I’ve done it after losing or having certain shirts destroyed. Everything is too expensive for this nonsense. Had a very similar experience when I saw BTS in LA at the end of 2021. It was their first concert since 2019 and the only city they were visiting so their company made it a mission to squeeze every last dime. Plus it was the first concert Sofi stadium was hosting and it was the worst organized venue I’ve ever attended in my life. Imagine thousands of people there, asking multiple staff members questions, and every one of them telling you “I’m not sure” or just pointing you in the wrong direction without admitting they didn’t know. Like you said, you don’t know the artist personally, but you can guarantee they’d be mortified if they knew their team was creating such a bad experience behind the scenes while they’re working their asses off to put on a 3 hour show

I live in Glendale and concerts are always a nightmare here. Other than the show I really hope you’re enjoying your time here ❤. This experience sounds like a nightmare upon a nightmare. Extremely unfair treatment for the fans especially after paying so much money just to even have a ticket. Anytime that I went to a show there were multiple merch booths and some sort of staff designated to organize the line even for food. Honestly, I think it’s disgusting the quality of merch and even the fact they had the truck outside at an indoor venue when there’s spaces designated for merch sales inside. All in all it’s like oh hey you experienced the pandemic and wanna have a blast after not having to for a couple of years? Yeah spend a crap ton of money for stuff worse than knockoff and feel like cattle. I’m sorry this happened. I hope you enjoy your time here outside of that! Be safe!

The customer service email mailbox for Merch is also full at the moment so any new emails get returned to sender!! (I had an issue with Merch that I ordered before the tour even started, and they’ve been going back and forth with me for weeks saying they’ll “look into it” and they would send me a replacement, and they’ve literally done nothing.)

Thursday in Arlington, we were in line for six hours. We suspected it was going to be bad, so we traveled to Arlington on Wednesday even though the concert was on Friday. We got there at 9 am.

You can get the black on black crew! Maybe it’s changed since opening weekend, but every single item other than maybe the light up baton is available for purchase online. They even have the location specific posters available for the week of each city’s shows. It’s also a made to order system so there is no selling out on the website. Online also has a specific shirt for each era that I think is some of the best designed merch for the tour. No need for anyone to wait in any merch line at all, not worth it.

Man, even my favorite convention allows ticket holders to buy con exclusive items online, both as pre/post-con and during the convention, to either pick up onsite or have shipped to your house. Im so happy my second job is being an usher for 20yrs. Ive seen so so so many cool Musicians and i like singers who put on a whole experience and are awesome performers. I feel sorry for ppl who buy it all. I now currently work at 2 big concert venues. The secret at going to the bathrroms at more female concerts is to go with a friend to the mens baghroom and stand out at the cubicle. Merch expensive- I think it started with itunes and burning cds back in the day.

I also went to night 1 Glendale and I will say in my experience the lines for bathrooms and food/drink were reasonable before the show and between sets. But the merch line was ridiculous. My group and I scoped out a few different merch stands and the lines literally wrapped 1/4 of the way around the stadium. Didn’t bother waiting

The thing with tour merch is that they have contracts with the venues usually so I think there are restrictions on what artists can do. Also I know it sucks that everything is priced so high but artists only get a percentage of merch sales as well so that's usually why it is priced so high. I have also found that most shows I go to the artists will put leftover merch on their website after the tour is over. Not sure how anything works but I do go to a lot of concerts and see a lot. Big shows I'll just tell myself I don't want merch. 😂

Went to Chromatica Ball and there was still a good amount of Lady Gaga Merch left after the concert. They ran out of hoodies but, it was cool, they had shirts and other things left. It was really organised actually even though it was chaos. The only thing that was absolutely horrible was being able to leave the concert. The rideshare services could not get in, but then there was like SUV's saying if we paid 200 we could get a ride out. So scary to get in a stranger's car sooo scary.

And even when the popular t shirts sell out physically the weekend of, they inform people they could buy it online. Which is the official site. Have gone at its height pre and post 2020, and it was great.
