It has been proven. Keeping a fish tank and continually learning about more about it really does help our mental well-being. I look at my tanks as being similar to our brains. Get rid of this thought, add this, refreshen a bit of the water, add this plant and so on. There is something amazing about looking into a glass box of water, filled with fish and lush green plants that calms our anxieties about life. I can stare at any of my tanks for a long time. I have 1 gallon up to 10 gallon tanks. I am always learning about fish and snails. My mental state has vastly improved. USA

Veteran here, after tours in Kuwait, Iraqi and Afghanistan I retired and got back into the hobby, fish keeping is a great hobby for mental health. No help needed here, but I admire your mission, keep it up. I really enjoyed getting a 40 breeder back up and currently working on community 75 gallon. I frequently have KGT videos playing while fishing keeping.

I’m in. I’m in Seattle and happy to help. I lost my mom this last October and struggled really bad with my grief. I found that aquarium keeping helped the tears and pain stop. I’m now 6 months in and smile because I converted my mom’s bedroom into my fish room. I started a breeding business because I found my passion. I tell people all the time how much this helped. My mom is with me every second. I have some ideas on ways we can bring this to my area.

Came home, got my 55 gallon freshwater, moved and proceeded to buy and setup 5 more aquariums(plus a 5g and 10g hospital. 2 being betta tanks saved from big box stores who were feeling under the weather. I have decided to rescue bettas, although its goving money to the store, ive successfully brought the 2 back to health and they are doing amazing! I'll just echo the "as a combat veteran" thing. Fishkeeping has been better than any therapy I've done in the 13+ years I've been out. This is such a great idea! I would have been so grateful for something like this! I keep my aquariums in my basement -not uncommon -but starting 23 weeks into my pregnancy my pelvis started shifting and my baby was resting on a nerve going to my leg. I could barely handle going upstairs to go to bed at night, let alone the multiple stair trips required for feeding and tank maintenance. With paying for fertility treatments and then baby supplies, buying extra tech to assist was out of the question. I begged my husband to help with water changes and feeding. He didn't take it seriously until my Parrot Cichlid died and it shocked him into *finally* doing the bare minimum to keep everyone alive until I had our son.

Such a great idea if thought out properly. You already touched on a couple of possible issues. Just like the TV programmes that have presenters go to a house and do a garden makeover, you could do the same for a new tank setup for someone who has had some sort of crisis. Maybe a TV channel could get involved and have your own TV show? 🤔

I live in a smaller retirement community. We did have someone set up an aquarium here, but eventually the volunteer removed the tank. Everyone enjoyed it and it was helpful in getting people out of their rooms and into a common area. Had I known it was being removed I would have ask to take it over. I'm in Ohio and realize you can't travel that far. But I am sure any healthcare or rehab facility would love to have someone set up and establish a tank, then they could find someone to take over maintenance (with help starting out). I also love the idea of a tank at any children's hospital.

This is a great and sweet sentiment and idea. I know personally how hard it is getting back into it after a disaster. Had an apartment with a dedicated fish room, and lost it all in a fire. I don't know anyone anywhere near y'all, but I do have a friend local to me here in New Mexico that I've been using your videos to help--they rescued an established 20 gallon from a depressed friend of their own and I've been helping them get parameters back into the safe zones, plant suggestions, and hooked them up with a spare LED light I had on hand. Thanks to fishkeeping advice I learned from this channel, a lot of water changes, and a mess of plants, not a single one of the fish has become a casualty to the sorry state the tank was in when my friend took it. And it was BAD when they first took it. Water was browner than a mud puddle and test strips looked like a neon light show. I hope others are able to help you and Lisa fulfill your dream of helping others out that you can more reasonably get to.

I have a suggestion; I don't know how valuable it will be. You and Lisa HAVE a website. Two things I think would help: 1 - a section set up for people to give submissions for help directly to your website. It could include a suggestion box where people could submit names/addresses etc for personal help from you and Lisa... but there is another way that you could help too! I don't know if you've ever been to Lowes/Home Depot websites but each of those have a 'chat with an associate' options. You could pick certain times of the day... like : 10am -4pm (just throwing times out there) where you and Lisa (or others in the fish keeping hobby that are willing to do this) would be available for online chats. That way you COULD help Uncle Fred in Salt Lake City, Utah deal with his amonia problem. You could walk him through helping himself... which would probably be better in the long run. When you do things FOR people that could do for themselves... it might help them that once. But if you walk people through a situation, you teach them to do it for themselves. Of course, that doesn't help with the scenarios that you are talking about... but it would be a good start in that direction.

I asked you a long time ago and you actually responded about making a video specifically about cord management. On a larger aquarium you may have nine or 12 cords. Additionally, there are things you need to turn off occasionally while you’re either servicing an aquarium or perhaps you wanna cut back on flow while you are feeding in your aquarium. I think it would be a helpful video.
