I love seeing how enthusiastic you are when you're talking about the cows health and happiness. They give us such great products to eat. It's only fair they have a happy life. You and Ginge are the warriors that do this day in and day out. So thank you to you all 👍👍👍💙💙💙🥇🥇🥇

Oh my late mum dated a guy who worked for Massey out of Holmes Chapel, she used to love going to work with him delivering feed and said there was never a dull moment as often farmers needed an extra pair of hands. I really miss her excitement and childlike wonder when she talked about the amazing farms she visited, she cherished how she was treated like part of the extended family by the farmers. We are proper townies so as you can imagine helping birth a lamb or herd an escapee well it was million miles from anything she'd ever experienced. An of course she'd bring home game (you would have laughed at us two townies trying to pluck & prep a brace of pheasant) and omg the cuts of beef/pork/lamb as well as produce grown on the farms. You farmers are always such generous folks.

Man In The Mirror, Michael Jackson Tom. Brilliant vlog again. Don't wear yourself out, though. The farm looks phenomenonal, it's come so far since I started watching you, during Covid! See you September for holiday food!

Another top tip for the strings. Cut by the knot. Then pull the knot. The rest of the string pulls out cleanly. Or if you want to spread the bale pull the cut end so the knot pulls through the straw and helps spread it out.

Several u tubers I have watched start with “ get the drink of your choice…”. Today I discovered I put a piece of metal through a soaker hose and duct tape won’t fix it so I took a break to see what popped up on u tube. I grabbed a big glass of milk ( my drink of choice ALWAYS ) sat down and found that you posted a new video! It is a holiday in the US SO DOESN’ T SEEM LIKE A TUESDAY so you totally caught me by surprise! A very pleasant surprise indeed! So exciting to watch the parlor progressing and all the other changes/ upgrades you are making! Thanks for all your hard work with the cows and the extra work of videoing it for us.

Congratulations on the calves! They look awesome! My great uncles usually gave us kids small chores to do, like making hay rakes. We'd cut up some 1"x8"s (2.5cm x 20cm) into 3 foot (91cm) long and 4 inch (10cm) blanks, peg the 4 inch blank to the 3 foot blank center, drill a bunch of 3/8" (9mm) holes, and one 1-1/2" hole at an angle in the 4" support block. Put dowels in the small holes and push a 1-1/2 rod in to the hole in the support block. Then the learning started as we all realized that the handle needed to be sanded or else you got splinters, you undersized all the holes by 1/16" so the fitting was snug, you only used wood because cows can crush it when they walk on it, they had us put up racks at both ends of the barn to both keep them handy and keep the cows from mouthing them... I'm pretty sure they gave the worst away. It kept us busy, we had something to show for the work, he made us use only the hay rakes we made so we learned that lesson of 'if you make bad work, you will pay for it more than once' and taught us how to fix our mistakes and get on with the job at hand. Almost every hay rake we all made broke or fell apart, and we put'em back together again. One uncle spent time in Japan, and he had a couple of books on Japanese joinery and some Japanese cabinet making tools.... he did cabinet making before the war, and after, and he taught us a few tricks but only after we made all the mistakes you could.

Hi Tom, there is always something needing to be done on your busy dairy farm/farmshop and before you know it you'll be in the new milking parlour. I think its great to see you raise all your calves, the female's to eventually move into the milking herd and the males go for the farm shop. Say hello to your Dad and all the other workers who appear on the video, they are all part of your dairy farming team. Stay well. Chris from Australia 🇦🇺.

Tom it’s easier to put the round bale the opposite way you had it just on the back door to load it then cut the net then once you lift the door it will roll the bale into the straw chopper and the net will just come off once you grasp it and the bales feed into the straw chopper easier

Who doesn't like to see happy cows? Just had the dry cows move into the paddock behind my house. Far more sensible than the calves. They don't try to smash the fence down and eat the potato haulms.😉😉 Edit: Should have said fences (plural) Fence 1: 4ft sheep net, fence 2: 3 strand barbed wire, fence 3: electric. All you need is a flat battery or a dodgy connection and the calves need no more encouragement to give it a go. 🤣🤣
@jamesgill2697 Жыл бұрын
Them calves should b out and not moved to another shed in the middle of the summer. A lot less work when out and less silage to make just makes sense
