Saying out loud felt wrong, $67 to fly 2 times on Singapore Airlines Economy class up to Perth Australia is a steal. But this is the benefit of flying with points and honestly we want to get used to this! Disappointing aspects of the flights were less disappointing cause we kept reminding ourselves how little we had spent 😅
💬 would you fly full price, knowing the lows we encountered?

I was so jealous of your food on the flight to Singapore because the meal you got on the way to Perth is more what I’m used to. Also even though Singapore is my favourite airline, on the last two flights back from Singapore to Melbourne they have given me dairy milk. Oh yeah, I hate it when they give out ice creams and you have to say no. I can never work out how to use credit cards to get the points. I have started to use my frequent flyers either virgin but I find the credit card deals so confusing!

That’s honestly kind of disappointing, I (Mat) flew with Emirates years ago and every single snack was also labelled as “vegan” which I’d say is a must nowadays. I cannot understand why this could be the best rated airline company if they don’t even provide you with the food you requested. 1300$ is a bit too much to be given dairy ice cream. It was intimidating for me as well in the beginning, but when you get the hang of it it’s actually very straightforward. We can definitely show you the process when we’ll meet in Melbourne! ❤️

Im not vegetarian and i respect you guys as being one! I might try the vegetarian option one day to compare it to normal food for Singapore airlines! Thank you for the vegetarian food review tho!

Nice advertisement for American Express. What of course you failed to mention is the annual fee for the Platinum card with lounge access (here in the UK it is £650 per-year) and how much you had to spend to get the 111,000 Amex Reward points (in the UK the standard reward rate is 1 point per £1 spent, so that is a spend of £111,000). Here in the UK Amex offer a 40,000 point once-only sign up bonus to new members who spend £6000 on their new Platinum card in the first 3 months, so if you got that the required spend would be reduced to £71,000 to get these two one-way economy class tickets. So perhaps it was not such a good deal after all?

I don’t think Amex needs us advertising, it’s honestly the only credit card with points us, as Italians, we can apply to! As I mentioned in the video you can earn points with even just a green Amex which in Italy most of the time is free for your first year and then has a pretty modest annual fee. You definitely don’t need a platinum, we got one cause we got a good offer and we use it as for its health insurance, which for us would have been more expensive to buy on its own. Perks the lounges, which though as vegans, have been mostly disappointing. I hope this explains everything better! Plus the points we earned were earned as referrals with friends who signed up with our code and for expenses we would have had to pay nevertheless! Life is expensive bro 😅 We hope you enjoyed the video though ✌️🤩

Wow, that's insane. I travel once at most twice a year but take a month long trip or longer and just pay cash for long haul business class Tix when they go on sale. This way I amortize the costs of airfare (the second most expensive part of the trip, hotel accommodations being the first) over a longer stay. Better for in-depth travel.

@@annew.1 I don't quite get you. It is not easy to pay 'cash' for airline tickets these days and buying tickets the moment they go on sale (presumably to get the lowest price?) would involve booking a year in advance which is not always possible. Personally I would always buy tickets with a credit card for the protection offered and, where convenient to do so, one which offers rewards or cashback of some sort. I would like to add two more things. 1. It is stated that the uploader of this video gets 'medical' insurance from their Platinum card and that such 'medical' insurance would cost more than the Platinum card annual fee. I assume they mean travel insurance with medical cover but unless the annual fee for this card is substantially lower in Italy than here in the UK, a multi-trip travel insurance policy would not cost anything like the Amex platinum annual fee. 2. It is stated by the uploader of this video that most of their points are obtained by referrals. That may well be so. I am not disputing this claim. However, I would suggest that the average person would not be in a position to take advantage to this to any great extent.

@@Ben-xe8ps By cash I mean using a credit card and not points. I get a 3% Cashback. Yes, I bought Tix a year earlier and paid off my credit card monthly in full. In the U. S., we have numerous travel cards and there are numerous blogs on how to maximize the points. My trips tend to also be business related so part of the cost is tax deductible.

I can understand your dissatisfaction with the vegan meals. Based on my personal experiences, most airlines (even reputable ones) do poorly in vegan or vegetarian meals. Glad that you highlighted this in your video. Airline companies should work harder on improving this. By the way, love your video. Looking forward to the next one.

Even with Singapore Airlines, the non-vegan meals via Book the Cook are tastier and have more variety for flights leaving from Singapore than flights from other airports like SFO.

Thanks 😍🥹 so glad you enjoyed the video! Honestly we are both usually lucky with vegan meals on flights.. that’s also why it was so upsetting from the best rated airline company to be let down 😓

@@matandangie It is an option for Premium Economy, Business Class, First Class passengers to select their meals from a wider range of dishes than what is offered on the menu onboard. I am not vegan so I usually get the braised beef, lamb, or lobster thermidor dish from them. Am usually hungry at odd hours on 15 h flights.
