For the first time ever, the Dukes are gathering in person to record an episode! What a time for it to happen too as we have plenty to discuss. For starters, we’re got our hands on a plethora of upcoming Xbox titles. Avowed, Ara History Untold, Towerborne, Atomfall, Metaphor Re Fantazio, and plenty more! As we were on site, we even had a chance to speak with a ton of the devs meaning we have added insight beyond the games themselves. Beyond the scoops, we naturally have to discuss the Indy situation as the game has been announced for PlayStation. We knew multi-platform was Xbox’s future, but this was quite an aggressive move. Great podcast! Much love to Matty and cog. Few rambling thoughts: Making the PS5 announcement as the “one more thing” was crazy. And Xbox alluding to the fact that black myth wukong was missing the Xbox at launch was because of a deal with Sony. Which the devs came out and clarified it was the Xbox console and their policy (series S parity, like with BG3, before they made an exception) just make it seem like another lie from xbox to make things not look as bad. Some games are just straight up skipping the Xbox at this point, and in some cases not even because of dev hiccups, or exclusivity deals. 95%+ of my game time is on my PC, where I get the equivalent of GPU for much cheaper. Even their own first party game (I think it’s only published, but they claimed it as 1st party in their graphic of 1st party games) Towerborne is coming to PC first in early access, when they already allow early access games on the console (why Palworld launched on Xbox and not PS5). If I were only using the Xbox console, at this point I’d really feel like a second class citizen right now. I don’t have much trust in the brand, as a PC player I’m fine, but I know not everyone has (or even wants) a gaming PC. TL;DR: feelin for the Xbox (as in the console, not the brand) fans right now. The messaging and straight up deceit at times, make it impossible to believe anything. If you are an Xbox fan and ever thought about moving to PC, now might be the time to.

Stalke 2 is quite possibly my most anticipated game of all time. My love for the og trilogy spans all the way back to 2012. Then getting absolutely hooked on the anomaly mod, later gamma. Just hands down the best single player survival game made.bif you want a single player escape from tarkov/dayz like experience with a metro/fallout feel, this is it.

It not being exclusive isn’t because “it’s Indy and has to be everywhere”. It’s because there are a vast amount more PlayStations being used compared to Xboxes and game pass discourages people from buying games. Spider-Man is able to be exclusive because when that deal was made it made business sense. It simply doesn’t make sense for Indy to be exclusive when this generation has already been lost

He never once lied When they bought Zenimax, he said that its a case-by-case basis. Remember he also said they have some contractual things in the future that they have to stick to. If you want to know why Towerbourne creators plan on using steam ask yourself this. What made Baldur’s Gate 3 such a great game? It was the early access. We often forget the first chapter of that game was playable for years. Not for just a few months, but for years and the developer took feedback from gameplay and continue to build the rest of the game improve gameplay dynamics. Early access is a tool more developers, who are going to make long tail RPG type games need to look into if it’s possible for their particular type of game. You as the consumer to try it out to see if you like it they as the developer to test out ideas and theories on you to see how they are perceived and can make a better game as a result

We've been saying it for a while: Xbox is going away. Game Pass will continue to exist on other platforms. This is why some of us have always had a problem with Game Pass -- Xbox and GP cannot coexist peacefully. If y'all want "free games", the Xbox console and ecosystem will cease to exist so that Game Pass can migrate to PlayStation, mobile, and PC. And that's kind of the ultimate issue here: every dollar you give to Xbox is supporting their goal of the elimination of Xbox in favor of other platforms that AREN'T giving them money. That's the choice Xbox players made, though. They were willing to sacrifice Gears, Halo, Banjo, etc so that they can pay $39.99 on top of the GP subscription to play (checks notes) Peggle 3 at 30fps in paid early access (on release day) before it comes out at 60fps on PlayStation a few days later.

Game Pass isn't going to PlayStation or Switch. Sony and Nintendo don't want it. Like Netflix taught people to not buy movies, Game Pass teaches people to not buy games, and that's bad for sales, as Xbox found out. Game Pass will eventually go away too. It's an Xbox service, and once Xbox goes away, Game Pass goes away.

You should care. It’s players like you that enable devs to keep aiming for 30 fps. Raise your standards. Once 60 FPS became the norm for me with the PS5, I haven’t really been able to play a 30 FPS game. I struggled through FF16 and it severely hurt the experience.

2:06:15 - Man, Cog is right and I love him but... I really hate that people are acting like Starfield will be great if they just add vehicles. Remember the trash Skyrim powers and the awful superman mini game? Starfield has stage 4 cancer and can't be saved with just this... This is no different from fo76 NPCs. Bethesda is the #1 to screw up 10 things and then act like heroes when they fix 1 of them. (And I haven't forgotten about fo4 still being broke as hell from the next gen downgrade.)
