We Played a Yu-Gi-Oh GX House Tournament!

The Duel Academy Box introduces Yu-Gi-Oh GX characters and themes into Speed Duels. You get fan favorite strategies like Jaden Yuki's Elemental Heroes, Zane Truesdale's Cyber Dragons, and Jesse Anderson's Crystal Beasts, alongside cult classics like Ojamas, Ancient Gears, and Volcanics. Speed Duels are already designed to be a fast way to jump into playing Yu-Gi-Oh, with simplified rules and smaller deck sizes. Skill Cards based on different characters help you get your strategy moving or can create big comebacks. This new product was created for playing with a group of friends, so today we have Chris, Larry, Alec, and Paul (that's me). We decided to each build two decks and switch between them after each game to get the most out of the GX experience. We've got a pool of over 240 cards, so it's time to get our game on!

I love the duels and the nostalgia of these cards, but what stands out the most has to be the editing being so clean. Love this and appreciate the care that went into bringing the cards up to screen size, the duel intros, and the close up shots when the guys are reacting. Straight up Yu-Gi-Oh anime quality duels.

just discovered you guys like... a couple weeks ago? been watching so many videos and these house tournament ones are some of my favorites so this was a treat to see pop up on my sub feed. I never really got too stuck into yugioh (was around when it came out and had the yugi and kaiba starter decks from 2002 or whenever it was?) since I was primarily a magic player (quit that around 2007), but man it's been fun kind of learning the game by watching you guys and seeing how wild it is now with everything that's changed etc. thanks for the content! always a blast seeing you guys have fun.

I played a different dimension/Ele hero deck when I was 12, it was the last time I properly played Yu-Gi-Oh and I competed in a tournament and finished second. Seeing Chris' Ele Hero deck brought back so many memories, I loved it.

In the 2nd duel between Alec and Chris Geartown loses the timing because it was destroyed as a chain link 2. It wasn't the last thing that happened in that chain and becauae of that, it loses timing and cannot be activated! Nice video by the way!!😀

Not sure if anyone else said it yet, that Crystal Raigeki play Chris made @ 15:00 to pop AG Beast shouldn’t have worked. AG Beast’s effect stops your opponent from activating spells/traps until the damage step. They never reached damage step since Alec only declared an attack.

It's so specific I don't blame the boys for not knowing the ruling (you would only know if you played duel links when ancient gears were top tier), but activating double cyclone chain link 2 how Alec did at 10:33 causes geartown to miss timing. Just goes to show how ridiculously complex the rules of yugioh are

I wanna say the atk gain from the cybers is after the stats switch. Seeing how the ark/def switch is applied immediately upon summoning and the equip is an eff happening on summon resolution. But I could be wrong. For the cyberdark cards I mean.

Chris made a mistake. He enters battle at 9:37 and then at 9:44 he sets a monster. How is this a mistake? Well, in speed duels there is no 2nd main phase. So, he sets a monster during battle/end phase which you can't. Now, sure we can pretend he did it during main phase 1, and you guys don't play speed duels often so is just a minor mistake, but still! Cue Scrubs clip where a opera singer comes in and sings : Misstaaaaaaaakeee! 🎶

one of the top 3 decks I ever made was a hero deck when shadow mist came out. Diamond Dude x2, Plasma x3, Shadow Mist x3, The Atmosphere x2 and ur trade-in/destiny draw engines are complete. so much add power with shadow mist, reinforcement, blazeman when it came out..and when they brought stratos back to 1 it was pretty much unstoppable with Dark Law and Plasma out friggin macro cosmos skill drain..i even had an icarus attack because of the atmosphere, zephyros, and castel (rank 4 is as common as fusion/mask change)
