Frank and I turned the classic game Pokemon Battleship To a in real life game. We then went back and forth blindly blasting eachothers pokemon battleships. Whoever wins the game gets to choose their team as well as the opponents from the pokemon selection then we fight in a 6v6 Pokemon battle! Okay so everyone is getting mad at me getting to go again after hitting a shot... The thing is Frank also got that same opportunity after he hit his shots. So it was completely even. Also there is nothing in the battleship rules that goes against this. It can be played either way! I like to play this way cuz it also gives more of an opportunity to the person who is losing cuz they can make a come back easier!

It actually does state that after a hit or miss, your turn is over in the Hasbro official rules.

For some reason I thought you were going to be playing battleship in a pc box, but that actually gave me an idea: Both sides randomly generate a full box of Pokémon. They then each take 15 turns randomly striking out pokemon and then both players have to make a team out of whatever is left. For an additional twist in a future video, you could have players swap boxes *AFTER* the striking, so they have to somehow come back from their own firing

Variation of the pokemon battle ship idea: You each put down pokemon for the battle ship from a randomised list, and then you guys destroy each others ships until 1 player has 6 pokemon renaming. They get those final 6 pokemon for their team, and the winner get to choose a team from his remaining pokemon. Might be worth adding a ship or two, so there are more options and isnt super fast.

I have a suggestion for you and your opponent to battle as gym leaders. You both choose one type and build your team you can have 1 type that isn't the selected type as long as you terra that one as the type team

I feel like telling your opponent the length makes it a lot easier to just lose the whole ship lol Like saying "yeah that wasn't my three" kinda helps them know there is another hit they can get lol instead of saying nothing and letting them possibly miss Also when you said "build your opponents team" I thought you meant everything, items, mons, moveset, etc. but it probably is more fair to just be mons lol since.. would be easy to build a mon with bad IV spreads and give them bad items and be like "good luck"

Newer battleship rules are if you hit you keep going but the original game is only 1 call and then you alternate. I prefer the way tobin did it but I can see why people are confused if they haven’t played newer versions. But then again no one plays uno correctly so who are they to complain about the way Tobin plays battleship

That's all fine and good, but it's certainly not official rules and statistically makes the game a nightmare (it rapidly takes out guaranteed spots while peanalizing the person who gets hit while upping the person who hits the ship's odd as it increases the possibility of of hitting the next one (better odds). I'm not going to evaluate whether it's better or worse that the official rules but it certainly adds another dimension.

3:20 Clearly Tobin doesn’t know this game fully because I'm fairly certain you'd be taking turns regardless of if you hit; also the ship lengths do range from 2-5 spaces long, and there are duplicates of specific lengths. Frank definitely had his board stacked against him as Tobin sunk some of his best straight away

We see throughout that this decision is a completely OP power move because if you hit directly after sinking one, this gives you an immediate leg up on the competitor when it comes to learned info. The imbalance of number of attempts for each person gives a major advantage to that one player that hadn't been missing so much. You could argue it balances out as each player starts missing more, but it just seems very off-putting to me
