Hey, I'm in this! Out of college now, I'm in my fifth year of teaching high school band and elementary music. My elementary students were asking about the choir I sang in during my time at Millikin, and I found this video to show them. They were amazed!

it may surprise you that the anthem was rounded off at the point it seemed to have ended. There is no end to praising God.

If you quote scripure as extensively as Handel did in the Messiah oratorio, you might not be considered inspired but you might be considered inspiring.

Yes, the Holy Spirit certainly inspired the music of the reformation. Amen

As I regularly do, a Bible text (Psalm 71) will send me to a classical piece I love. Oh, such a surprise to time travel and continent travel from 18th century Europe to 21st century Africa to hear God glorified through His word and the "vox humana" (human voice). In case you dear ones know Akhan, "Migda Uwahseh!"

They only sing 12 words in this passage ("We praise thee, o God, we acknowledge thee to be the Lord") and that's not exactly hard to memorise. But Handel's music is quite repetitive anyway - a lot of the time he plays around with the same set of words, just to match the tune. What takes a little bit of effort for a choral singer is to memorise the music so you know when you need to come in and/or come off without having to look down in the score. It's good fun and a super challenge for the mind.

Handel! I pray you made it to paradise and I too...so i meet you in person
@rogermetzger73356 ай бұрын
Heaven is not acheived. It is received as a gift of God's grace. I assume that's what you meant. Just suggesting you may wish to select other wording. I sing and play the violin. Depending on the circumstances but especially after I sing or play what I consider to be inspired music, people sometimes thank me. I sometimes suggest they also thank the composer when they meet him .. or her in the case of Fanny Crosby

@@rogermetzger7335 What's the motive of your Argument sir? Heaven or Paradise? Which did I mention?
@rogermetzger73356 ай бұрын
@@femiabiodunalabi I'm vaguely aware that some people make a distinction between heaven and paradise but it's a distinction that's lost on me. BTW, I make a distinction between heaven and the new Earth but I realize there are a variety of ways of understanding (or ignoring) that distinction. My "motive" has been to encourage people to think of heaven as a real place. Not merely somewhere disembodied "spirits" sit arround on clouds incessently struming on golden harps.

@@rogermetzger7335 there is one body but many members, we are brethrens in Christ, we don't need to argue on issues of our father... We have knowledge of eternity, our motive is to go to those who are yet to be saved.

@@danielbassey1129 I don't remember ever trying to make a "top ten" list of composers but Bach would almost certainly make the list. I wonder how many people would consider Bach to be "the greatest" composer.

Never more beautifully staged,with all the young women in matching gowns,and each wearing a "favour" of a lovely red rose ; the visuals come across as just a bit on the dark side ; also,the instruments,aside from the trumpets,seem at times to fade away too much.
