@JClaudeo5 ай бұрын
@@autobootpiloot The trucks make a ton of power, you are correct - but what you're forgetting is that off the line the diesel is not making full power (its not in its sweet spot RPM range yet), even a VGT turbo will not be at full boost (there will be lag) and the biggest loss is going to be shifting. Every gear change you lose boost, RPM and momentum. If you've ever run a transport truck with an allison transmission (not an eaton automated), you'd be amazed how insanely fast they walk through gears and get up to speed. in a bobtail race, they will slaughter a higher HP truck because once you build boost and momentum - you get to keep it. Now take Topsy, no turbo to spool, no sweet spot RPM (and its lighter than a comparably spec'd truck) Those electric motors will make 100% torque from 1rpm all the way up to their governed speed.

You will want a slight difference in gear shifting speed between your two axles to deal with NVH and the axles influencing each other during the shift. Probably work on some hysteresis and regularly swapping out which axle shifts first, to get even wear between them. I don't know how you are controlling these axles, but I would suggest treating them fully individually, so any tuning/programming issues that are not directly related to interaction between them should be isolated and as a bonus, you can do better torque/thrust modeling. Just be aware that you will be putting forces on your frame with the individual control that can cause warping and metal fatigue if not dealt with properly. You are already dealing with that right now with the one axle going into regen while the other is driving, so I assume you have that already worked out.

Imagine what they could do if they paired up with Liquid piston with how small and light those X engines or the more fitted one (COMPRESSION-IGNITED DIESEL ENGINES) and still use diesel. IF it was possible to replace the main diesel generator with a even lighter generator that uses gas but produces enough power to keep a charge (Idk how much it truly can produce since it's still work in progress), maybe just maybe cut even more of the weight off while still hauling a lot more.
