For a long time we have been wanting to do a compound setup and today we went a bit overboard with the sizing. It actually works so sick. The turbo is the PSR PRO106. (G57-3000)

Come on, No disrespect guys could be a lot smarter. This was a decent channel. Now it's just getting crazy. Just Calculate the b.m.e × C f m times port size In size that turbo right Those little head studs can't Support. all that boost! How you guys are just adding and adding and adding. Soon is gonna be heavy as a bmw. When you don't need all of that If you guys have a twin scroll ?And you have leg, Get a spool valve to close one of the holes so you can spool up faster. Come on, guys, one turbo can make over 60 pounds.No problem , you shouldn't have to put A compound turboset up You're asking alot from that little engine. Calculate your hp per 1 pound of boost Hit me up if you need help.

Primary wastegate needs to go before small turbo, into feed of big turbo uppipe. Secondary wastegate onto feed of large turbo to atmosphere or dump pipe. Controlling the primary gate opening point will be critical to the setup working. 106mm is wild. That little turbo is going to be turning some serious rpm.

This is correct, and exactly how i had mine. I also had big turbo vac line from the comp housing to the top port of the small turbos wastegate. Big turbos wastegate was referenced in the intake mid pipe between the primary and secondary turbo.

Big turbo spinning little turbo is an interesting concept
@heroeofkonnerud2 ай бұрын
Came to the comments for this. I never built a compound setup myself, but i thought the point was to use a small turbo to get the big one going🤔
@unvaxxeddoomerlife67882 ай бұрын
@@heroeofkonnerud No you would actually lose boost doing it that way because the air you just compressed would have to expand again to feed the big turbo. Big feeds small is correct, think about all that volume of air being compressed inside the big turbo is then compressed even more in the smaller turbo.
@heroeofkonnerud2 ай бұрын
@@unvaxxeddoomerlife6788 Cool. I didn’t think of it like that . I just thought that the big one would have more air to compress available. And with the big one first, you would still rely on exhaust from the tiny engine to spin the huge first charger, and you would still have major lag 🤷🏻♂️ I still learn something new everyday 😅
@heroeofkonnerud2 ай бұрын
@@unvaxxeddoomerlife6788(and I see now that I missed the point. I thought it was to eliminate lag and make it driveable, not just to get diesel levels of boost crammed in there 😂)
@chipchip48Ай бұрын
A correctly sized one is based around removing lag, im just getting into diesel performance and compounds are like a dark art of maths and power, but from my understanding with a compound setup you will only ever make as much power as your atmospheric turbo (the bigger of the two) can flow, so if you had a single turbo 55mm turbo and a compound setup with a 55mm turbo and say a 44mm turbo in theory both would make the same peak power while the actual power curves would be very different@@heroeofkonnerud

Rig up a small 12volt air compressor, and install an air jet fitting to the turbo. This way you can artificially spool (pre-spool turbo) up the turbo at low rpm, and the engine will take over (catch up) as you accelerate.

I’m no expert on compound setups by any means but shouldn’t the wastegate be before the larger turbo giving the smaller one every opportunity to spool the large one? Or at the minimum the dump pipe recirculating to the larger ones “exhaust manifold”? It just seems like you’re giving up precious exhaust flow to get that monster spooling up.
