I lost my canine companion of 16 years last summer and I can honestly say I grieved more for his passing than many humans I have known. My hound Buck never met a child he didn’t love, a cat he wouldn’t chase or a snack he wouldn’t eat. Dogs are better companions than many humans!

You could see the trust in his eyes in the clip. The hardest part of saying goodbye is knowing when to say good bye. You can't have a greater love as a pet parent then to respect the signals they give. Its better to be one day early than one day late. Y’all are in my prayers. I get it about Gunner. I lost my Bruno (a giant schnauzer) 15 months ago and there are times when I see reminders of him that still cause me to cry. These beautiful creatures God allows into our lives for a brief period so become a part of you heart. It is tough, but hang in there. I know there are many Christians that will say otherwise, but I truly believe we will see our 4-legged canines in Heaven. Any creature that dreams and loves so unconditionally as a dog will surely be there to great us.
