The problem with these kind of videos is the mufflers are going to sound different on different engines with different exhaust setups. To get an accurate sound, it needs to be done on the same vehicle, with the same engine, with the same exhaust and the only different change would be the muffler itself.

Ur absolutely correct. I have a 2021 ranger unfortunately the ones I've checked call sound like rice rockets because the engine is a 2.3L turboed EcoBoost. The flowmaster gives the best deepest growl out of any exhaust I've heard tested and I've watched almost every video on KZbin of somebody testing out various exhausts on a 2021 model ranger. The flowmaster for that model truck has the best sounding growl in my opinion. And I say this when for the last 23 years since I was 16 and was driving around in a 2000 Pontiac trans Am with a Cat-Back Borla exhaust system in the first exhaust system I went to check and see what it sounded like was a borla exhaust. Unfortunately it gives off too much of a rice rocket 4-cylinder sound and that's not what I want at all. I want a nice deep growl that's just going to get louder the more I build the engine out, because I'm going to swap out the intercooler, possibly put a bigger turbo on it, absolutely without a doubt get it tuned etc. I'm going to do all the engine work and s*** first so that I tune it to 400 horsepower and about 390 lb-ft of torque, just below the value of when I'd have to start upgrading things like piston rods and s***. I'm also going to have Ford do my installs if it will keep my warranty valid, otherwise I'm going to work around the warranty for the meantime except I'll get it tuned early since it saves the stock tune and then when the warranty is over I'll do all the upgrades at once including upgrading the rods and such so that way it'll be able to handle the power a lot better. If that's the case in the meantime I'll work on other things like a nicer set of rims etc

All the lights will be on the dash of that 7.3 L Ford pretty soon. The exhaust pipes are probably half inch too big around the muffler sounds great, but you definitely need to take care of that issue.

Also all these exhaust had popping a rattling sounds when on the gas so that’s what makes it sound cheap. Just listen to a bad ass big block and you won’t hear any of that rattle. Just a smooth low tone and loud sound during acceleration

I have the touring exhaust on my '20 Escalade. Perfect exhaust for a luxury SUV. Nice mellow rumble, can hear the music, barely noticeable on highway until you stomp it, then it's nice and aggressive

Unless it's just one giant empty chamber there is no way you're going to outflow a straight pipe. only reason it can flow better then is you're giving the exhaust a big room to expand and lose pressure. That's a proven yet not well known way to muffle and make power

All in all if you have a V8 Borla is most likely the best sounding exhaust that you will get. But that's because they just play best with V8 engines i.m.o. The biggest problem is that certain systems work better with different engine sizes, like my truck has the 2.3L EcoBoost in it since it's a 2021 ranger, and the best sounding exhaust for that (again i.m.o) is a flowmaster FX because it gives it that nice deep growl that you want compared to that squealing high pitched rice rocket sound. Like the Toyota matrix made I don't want to sound like that I want a nice deep growl, and the flowmaster FX gives that nice deep growl somehow

Back pressure isn't good, not end of the world but does no favors. Probably still warming up so of course it's gonna run richer on start up

Does installing the Borla muffler in the opposite direction affect the performance of the engine and the sound? The hole in the middle I placed in the front as an inlet, and the hole in the left end I placed in the back as an outlet.The muffler I mean is Borla No. 40359 Please answer, thank you

I'm having trouble getting the type of system on my car im wanting, hell im heart set on more like it. You seem to know your shit so any info you could share would be a blessing! Hell if you can make it happen and not real expensive i would even bring it to you but an idea what I'm working with is a BMW 04 745li. My heart is set on the borla ATAK. My car had 3 1/2" duals on it already but the way it is set up now they are ran side by side more toward driver side from center than toward pass side. The are duals back to then Y Into the resonator from resonator Y out back to duals then continue to rear then under trunk/bumper eash pipe has the muffler. I have tried checking into borla ATAK create mufflers but am kinda clueless what to do considering not exacrly how the plumbing should be. I wanna remove the resonator splice both pipes where Y in and Y out and maybe do some type of H along the area and then behind axel install borla ATAK muffler/mufflers. Is this just a dream or can it be reality? I will try and see if I can find sumin online to maybe give you an idea of the layout on bottom of my car if not I will see if I can get a detailed photo when daylight. Will be extremely difficult though cause it's approx 5" from ground. Please help I've exhausted the few resources I have locally and I hear is it would be had but what I'm not hearing is impossible. For me something that is difficult or demanding is simply a challenge accepted. I enjoy looking defeat in the face and then conquering. So much better of a feeling of success when all ever hear is something is to hard!! Plus the local resources i have are hillbillies that's never even heard of math so I can understand it being intimidating. I live in Northern al. Fyi

Anything with a 200 cell count is good. Magnaflow sells high flow cats. Also look into Allied Signal high flow cats. Same flow as name brand without the price.

None of these setups sound particularly bad, but none sound particularly good, either. Nowadays, Borla is probably best for some older vehicles and for vehicles that are catless and/or running long tubes to tame the volume levels. Companies such as Black Widow and Carven are offering mufflers with a cleaner, more "open" tone, and they aren't always super loud, either.

We need everyone to just STOP with the little 4 & 6 cylinders. These are not muscle car engines no matter how fast they are. They are girls and kid a car for high school. They sound like shit. If you want in the game then get one of the muscle cars of any kind available and if you don’t have the money get a good used one and fix it up. It’s what cars and trucks are all about anyway
