It's clear that all 3 of them cant actually hoop. There's a reason 90% of NBA players keep saying MJ and Kobe are the 2 greatest ever. And they got him 9th. Saying he was a good defender and good scorer. The man is the greatest scorer in the modern nba and top 3 perimeter defenders of all time.
@tianwang120011 ай бұрын

@@GJG_3 you're thinking about a very different kind of "greatness" in basketball. Kobe and MJ is top 2 "greatest" for their lasting impact on the game. (e.g. mamba mentality) and most nba players are talking about that kind of greatness. (i.e. who they look up to) but this podcast is much more about stats and accolades. so like Bird who has a much better stat line would rank higher than Kobe.
@GJG_311 ай бұрын
@@junct respectfully fuck mamba mentality. That's not why Kobe is better. He's better because he's fkn better than everyone else. Enough with this mentality shit. Skill wise Kobe is miles above everyone who has ever played the game. Only Kyrie is close. Your making things up. Bird's stats are not better than Kobe. Especially in the playoffs. You're basing that because Bird shoots 4% higher. Now lets talk stats right. Every single player was placed as a rookie as the #1 option. Kobe was getting 15 mins his first 2 season. Remove Kobe's first 2 seasons and he averages over 28ppg. Third highest ppg ever. Remove his final season post achilles and it goes up to 29ppg. Kobe and Wilt literally own every single scoring milestone. Kobe's 35ppg seasons would equal 43ppg in today league. 55 points in a half. Had the 3pt record for a decade. Most 20, 30 point quarters. Most 40 point halves. Kobe lead the league in 3 straight playoffs runs. No one except MJ has ever done that. Best scorer ever check. Oh look at that....Kobe also has the most defensive first team selections of all time. Top 2 or 3 perimeter defender ever check. Scoring and defense is essentially basketball. Oh yea only player ever to win multiple title without a top 75 teammate. Really ask yourself this. Why do 90% of current and former NBA players rank Kobe 2nd all time. You think they're all bias? Even so our opinion is dog shit compared to theirs. I will personally never state my opinion on a sport I've never played competitively (club, nationally, college etc). Doesn't matter how much I watch it. These 3 clearly don't hoop therefore their opinion really is meaningless.

Must have won multiple championships (2+) and been Finals MVP in those championships (2+). 3.) Must have multiple Regular Season MVPs (2+). 4.) Must have averaged at least 20 PPG for your career. 5.) Must have been in MVP conversations: Top 5 MVP for 5 years and Top 10 MVP for 10 years, averaging 20 PPG for 10 years. 6.) Must be Top 20 in two or more major statistical categories (e.g., Points, Rebounds, Assists, Steals, Blocks). 7.) Must be at the tail end of your career (like LeBron) or retired. 8.) Must have at least 5 conference finals appearances. *The Holy Trinity of Basketball:* *1. Michael Jordan* *2. LeBron James* *3. Solid list, but I'm surprised that Havlicek has not been mentioned at all. He's the 3rd best all-time Celtic guy there after Russell and Bird, and just cmon man Russell won't have 11 without him, not mentioned he averaged 21/6/5 while having 8x All-Defensive Teams, one of the most underrated players imo.

The point isn't that Michael Jordan never lost. The point is that Michael Jordan was never the reason his team lost. Every time his team was favored by betting odds he won. That is not the same case for LeBron. LeBron has choked multiple Series where he was favored and also because of his personal play. Even while Jordan was getting his ass beat by the 80s Celtics he was dropping 40 he was dropping 60 and he was at least averaging 30. At no point in time was he ever getting outscored by a bench player like Jason Terry
@chisome1777 Жыл бұрын
Nah he really only choked the 2011 finals, every other case was his team failing to play up to par. Especially the 2017 and 2018 finals

Ranking Tim Duncan at the 4 or 5 spot always works for me people sleep on that dude. He's also had that LeBron like consistency of being great but not to the same extent as LeBron's but similar in that no matter what age Tim Duncan will always always have a positive impact on the floor just by sheer IQ and fundamentals.

One doubt i always had with top ten rankings is Magic and Kareem's ranking. Like the fact that they played together should work against them to some degree, like sure KD and Curry as well as Shaq and Kobe played together but for very short periods of time. KAJ and Magic had each other for a most of the 80's. Like theyre still top ten but that should be a factor

I'm in the minority that has Bird above Magic. Everyone talks about Magic winning Finals MVP in his rookie season but he had Kareem for most of his career (even though he was slightly past his prime, Kareem did win Finals MVP at 38yrs old in 1985). Bird took a 29 win Celtics team and improved them by 32 wins in his rookie season and won a chip in his 2nd season. In his first 7 seasons, Bird came in top 2 in MVP voting 6 times and won 3 MVPs before Magic even won his first MVP. To me, Bird was the slightly better player, Magic had the slightly better team with better accolades. They're interchangeable but shouldn't be separated by more than 1-2 spots.

@@mobetter25 They played in an era before the 3pt line. They are dominant paint players, like shaq in his era. Fully agree on the IT take People forget how lethal he was as a 6-1 guard in arguably the toughest era of basketball. When you average (rounding up) 20/10 for 1000 games, win 2 NBA Titles with some legendary moments, beat Magic, Bird and MJ, make the All Star team basically his entire career 12 out of 13 years and retire early by today's standards... You deserve to be minimum top 20 All time if not higher
