Oh Yeah Gerard. I'm an Aussie. 😊 I pretty much figured you were Australian when I noticed the guitar you play and I was positive when you mentioned you saw 'Dragon' rehearsing in a hall in Shepperton. I've worked out through the YT experience that not many of our 'Rock-Star' heroes saw the light of day overseas. 😞 Like you, I've uploaded Australian songs that were huge here and received comments saying 'I've never heard that song before'. Sad but true and I'm sure you are aware of that yourself. This song is an example. I thought Ben Lee charted in the States. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I thought you would have jerried when I mentioned that I was a 'Dragon' fan. I'm pretty sure they are unknown overseas. Anyway!!! I too often play without a pick, like here, it all just depends on the rhythm of the song I guess. Ah and a good ol' upright piano with a real metronome, yes! Blackbird?. The Beatles used an upright piano quite often while writing and then to record. I just got the parts to ad a Bigsby to my SG to play the lead to a new/old cover. I've looked at a few of your uploads (not all as yet) so you can probably tell from the songs of yours I've commented on what music we have in common with each other. Turns out we are both 63 years old so they won't be that different. Of course I love the 'Beatles' (huge fan), love 'America' (commented on most of your 'America' covers), James Taylor, Led Zeppelin (can't reach Robert Plant's vocal range), CSN&Y (big fan of all of them), Joni Mitchell (love her open tunings that have been a huge influence on my guitar playing), and as you would realise I'm a fan of a lot of Australian music as well. One trait of yours that I don't share is the 'electric' guitar. I have very seldom played an electric but that doesn't mean I don't love their sound. I love it but I just don't play anything but acoustic guitar and piano (I severed the tendon in the pinky finger of my left hand and as it turns out I am without the use of that finger. Sorry Johnny I didn't realise you had put a new song on - I don't seem to have anything to notify me about any subscriptions so I just sort of haphazardly wander around YT from time to time. Your song is a very timely and true sentiment that's for sure. I've never heard or heard of the original but I often prefer that as it makes for a fresh listen. I watched several times and was a bit troubled by some of your lyric changes - I hope they're not too true to life - but it was a fine heartfelt performance. If you click on the bell you have options as to whether you want notifications or not. It took me ages to realise that also. It was truly a spur of the moment thing GH. Probably brought on by how much news I watch 🤷🏻‍♂️. I hope it didn't offend Man. Yes! We are in a pretty strict 'lockdown' here in Victoria eg, we can't go to a park, sit down and chill. You'll be given an 'on the spot' fine and people have been fined. My wife is working from home and I have lost most of my jobs as an aged carer. I try to be philosophical I suppose. There have been times in recent history where people were doing it harder than what we are presently but yes Mate, so far we are healthy and in good spirits and I hope you and your loved ones and friends are also. 🙏 ☮️ Anyway!!
