Man I miss optical stores in Korea!!, lol, like seriously. Here in France there are no optometrists at the optical stores and we even have a shortage of optometrists and ophthalmologists in general, so to see any eye doctors can take months to wait for an appointment. When I lived in Korea, for 5 years, we had one of the best eye clinics in our region, it was brand new, it the country side, with an English speaking ophthalmologist, and no appointments were needed, walk it, cost 11,000 won, lol. We'd go to the Davitch down the street and we get our glasses in an hour, and if we only bought lenses and/or frames once a year we would get a rebate from our Korean taxes. We'd go every year, lol, so easy. We went one month before we left Korea and moved to France, the eye doctor said my prescription for lenses was way too close to my old one, and I didn't need new lenses. So I didn't get new lenses. Now I'm in France, and while there are TONS of optical stores, almost as many as in Korea, there is no one there to check your prescription, no one, so you have to wait, and wait, and wait, and wait for a long time to get an appointment, lol, I haven't been to an eye doctor in 3 years because of it, and covid didn't help either. and I'm sure now my prescription is out of date because even my brand new tv looks slightly blurry. Oh, and France doesn't really do those push in silicon nose pads like Korea is so fond of, they only have the screw in, so my husband has these nice titanium glasses he bought in Korea, and he can't wear them because one nose pad broke and we can't replace it, we even checked on amazon and emailed the Korean maker of the glasses, lol

Love how the waiter whips a whole added tpper full of delicious stuff over on your table in one motion, That's fantastic & makes life so much better for the server & those cleaning up...simply brilliant...love taste it all! October baby here curious, your birthday Sarah....If that is ok to ask...if not that's fine too. Your swimming adventure sounds wonderful. Here, in the high desert mountains of New Mexico (US) 7000 ft (2100 + meters elevation... fall has arrived, so swimming might be over for the year, but maybe Hot Springs, healing mineral waters for the cold to come. Ciao! Well Being Kyuho, Sarah & Beemo. (always enjoy you!)

Awwwww guys! Welcome home! Can I just say that the way the restaurant slid the entire tabletop of your entire feast was BRILLIANT! Never have I ever seen anything like that! Every single side dish you had, made me craving Korean food. I’m with Kyuho…..I’m all about scorched rice porridge. Awwww Sarah, I totally get your anxiety about personal space. I feel myself getting like that in elevators. Especially, since I was stuck in a tiny parking lot elevator for 45 minutes, many years ago. Ugh! I’m super excited for you guys and your Chuseok trip to Vietnam with Kyuho’s parents. Have a great time! I cannot wait for your Vietnam vlogs! I’m so glad that you can travel comfortably, knowing that Beemo is well taken care of. It’s so funny, because a new Bank has come to Southern California. It’s name is BMO, but they pronounce it ‘Beemo.’ You ALL automatically pop into my head, every single time the commercial comes out on TV. 🥰 Take care and blessings to you all!

Loved that the restaurant even had portable tables - now that's Korean efficiency (pali pali). Lol. Your point about a restaurant with older guests being legit had me thinking. Aren't those restaurants less likely to have yelp/ google reviews? You really have to be a local to know about a hidden gem restaurant like this. Sometimes online reviews that are not helpful and don't focus on the food. Also sometimes those reviews are more focused on trends and buzz.

I know it's inconvenient and that public transit is awesome in Seoul, but do you guys miss being able to just hop in a car and drive wherever you want? I just hate public in the US (except fot subways in SOME cities) and couldn't imagine life w/o a car.
@2hearts1seoul
@2hearts1seoul 9 ай бұрын
Nooo, not at ALL, honestly 😅 Public transport in Seoul is super convenient, always on time, fast, and clean. If we drove in Seoul, it would take us 3-4x longer to get anywhere, because there’s soooo much traffic. We’d rather avoid that by taking the subway or the bus (since there are bus lanes). Owning and maintaining a car when the public transport is this great just feels so burdensome and it’s such a money suck paying for gas and maintaining the car 😩

Guys. As a Canadian, I ask that you please stop saying that you cannot get Korean food or proper Korean restaurants in CANADA. It may be the case for outside Halifax, but Toronto has plenty of great Korean restaurants where the food could be as good as it is in Korea. It is misrepresenting our country. It is true that not everywhere you can find, but there are cities that have plenty.
@2hearts1seoul
@2hearts1seoul 9 ай бұрын
We never once said “You cannot get proper Korean food in all of Canada”. We said “we missed proper Korean food while we were in Canada”, which is obviously much easier (and cheaper) to find in Korea…as it’s Korean food. In Toronto do they also have these table sliding places with a huge array of banchan with free refills on all of the banchan, and no need to tip?
@HeliosAMC
@HeliosAMC 9 ай бұрын
Some of them do and refills are free as much as you want. Tipping is a different topic as the culture is different. My point is that we cannot paint a whole country based on the experience of a regional area. Canada is very diverse, and, as everywhere in the world, we have big cities with a significant population of immigrants who bring their culture and food. Not everywhere is the same, but we cannot say that is Canada as whole. @@2hearts1seoul
@2hearts1seoul

Again, we never once said “You cannot find authentic Korean food in Canada”. We also really missed authentic Vietnamese food until we went back to visit Vietnam recently. Are there legit Vietnamese restaurants we’ve tried in both Canada and Korea that we really enjoyed? Sure. Were any of those places as delicious as the Vietnamese food we ate in Vietnam? Nope. Not saying it’s always the case that eating a country’s native dish IN said country is always better, but it is more often than not in our experience.
