Aunt Ann’s idea so we went with it. Figured if people wanted to be blessed by giving they could be. Others could say a prayer or speak a well wish. It has meant the world to grandma that so many people showed their love and support in that way. Good guess on the remodel cost ;) Thought it’d be half that.

A piece of advice. Keep being you, Justin. You’re an awesome dad! And a husband that totally demonstrates love for his wife. showing a marriage that supports on another and brings the very best out of each other. And naturally share that with the public. And I’m always amazed at how you do not shy away from sharing the raw and real parts of life. Blessings upon you and your family.😊🦦🤙🏾🌄

I thought those chickens looked a little small. I like ours over 4 1/2 lbs. to get three days worth of meat. The sauna and cooling tub look great. I am sure the goose was happy to be with the bigger chickens rather than on the butchers block at least for today LOL

10 days left on my first cycle. We do 2 cycles a year rather than the whole year at once. Saves on freezer space having only 6 months at a time in there AND makes processing day that much easier.

I don't have a plucker so I have to hand do everything on our birds. We only do two to three at a time because of that but our Cornish also get to 20lbs+. For anyone wondering why they get so big, I try to give them the best life possible and only butcher when they start showing signs of distress or start crowing. They free range with our other birds, so lots of exercise. But one big game changer was when we started giving them an organic mix of vitamins and niacin in their water for the first three to four weeks and we have had them live long enough to lay eggs but we also don't raise a 100 at a time. We raise enough to give away birds to local families in need and have full freezers, most people think we are giving them turkeys, lol. As for picking up geese, maybe mine are just weird but....they don't bite, they worked together as a team (recently one passed away due to illness) to guard the other birds. They do attack threats to the flock and have killed a few raccoons but other than that they aren't much meaner than the ducks they guard. I pick my girls up and they hug me like a duck. (Yes, ducks hug, if they like you) Maybe it is just the way we raised them, maybe they just think they are ducks. If they were aggressive I would defiantly hold them like that but they are sweet as can be to us.

Funny Justin... we have one of those pvc things. I've repaired it several times in the last 6 years as the use wears out the pipe glue. But for 2 years in a row now it's held up.. we butcher 400 weekly during the season so it gets lots of wear and tear.
@plurmingo15 күн бұрын
I saw someone else on YT make that years ago, when we started raising mb, my H made one that hangs so the birds are at angle instead of taking up table space. Bags go on from bottom to top bird and so on the process. We haven’t had any problems (yet), but we also dont do a lot of chickens.

We always had a system. My son would catch the birds and take them to his dad. His dad and my mom would kill and bleed them and while they were bleeding one would dunk and one would run the plucker. My daughter would cut the feet off and peel them and then I would gut them because I had the smallest hands. My daughter would jump in when she got caught up on feet to help gut, too, so we didn't get a backlog. Sometimes my son would run the plucker, but not dunk because he was too young to be around that hot of water. It worked great for the kids' ages. We all cleaned up, again according to ages.

Just want to hopefully be helpful here. If you get a different lot of tile and the color is a little different it is not something to worry about. Open all of the boxes and check the tiles first (for defect), then shuffle the tiles from all of the boxes. We bought tile for our shower and it was actually in their instructions to do these steps 😊.

We do cornish cross every year with a friend. We get the chick's, they raise them and then we process them all and provide bags and then we split them all. This year we only got about 23 each. Last year we got like 36 lol. They keep theirs whole, but I quarter ours up. Too much meat on a whole chicken for us

When I was a kid, my Grand Father had a real Oldie Worldie Farm, they was kind of a Home Steaders, back then there were no real big Commercial Farms. He had mayby 10 Jersey cows which he milked by hand every morning and every late afternoon, the cows would just show up from the paddocks and wait by the milk shed to be milked, I always thought his cows was away smarter that his dogs, for some reason. All his milk went to a Boys Boarding School, after WW2 there were a lot of kids with no Dads so the mothers would send the boys to boarding school, "Thats what th eboys need, Male role models", my Grandmother would always say. Well, when we visited them, it must have been a special ocasion because my Grand Dad would slaughter a chicken when we got there (They still had an ice box and a Cherosene Fridge) he would chop the head off and let go of the chicken, and all us kids would watch the chicken trying to get up and run, it was a eye opener for us, we were from the Big Town and we got our chickens from the shop, It always had my sister in tears, but next month she would stand there again,watch the whole process of decapitation and the tears start running "AGAIN!" My Grand Father would light a little bit of Brandy in a saucer an burn the very soft hairy feather/fluff, I remember the smell, it was a smell of my Grand Fathers Pipe and the shot of brandy he would drink every night before he went to bed, at eight, every night, and be up at 4 o'clock and listened to the Farmers Market Report and Weather forcast on radio while he sips his coffee with one eye closed, and the Radio blaring loudly because he was a bit hard of hearing. He blamed it on a German mine that exploded very close to him during WW1, but my Grandmother said he suffers from selective hearing, I had no idea what it meant!,lol!
