We're Creating the Sweetest Life - Sam and Connor's Whimsical Doctor's House Wedding

All the feels at Sam and Connor's elegant and whimsical wedding at The Doctor's House in Keinburg, near Toronto. We felt so lucky to get to capture these lovebirds not only at their wedding, but also at their rehearsal evening/sunset cruise around Toronto Harbour and the islands! It was such treat and the perfect way to be introduced to their family and close friends before their dream of a wedding day.
Sam and Connor chose the Doctors House because they loved how classy and charming the venue is with it's historical, white buildings, the chapel, lush gardens and fountains. It has more of a South Carolina feel, rather than a typical Toronto or Ontario wedding venue which was a big plus to them. The courtyard/patio area that is connected to the reception room allowed them to have an outdoor wedding with easy access to indoor spaces throughout cocktail hour and the evening. This allowed them to create their ideal environment for the guests; fun, inviting with lots of opportunity to mingle, let loose and enjoy every moment.
We love working with couples who put their all into the experience and Sam and Connor really made the wedding their own. From the aforementioned sunset boat cruise, to their addition of the twinkling lights over the patio (don't you love that first dance?!), their emotional vows and the afternoon adventure in their friend's vintage Mustang, their personalities were infused into every moment of the wedding. These are the kind of people who create unique experiences, and help us to create unique wedding films.

Always love you all's videos. As an S5ii and S5 owner, yall give me the most inspiration, best in the game! I wonder, how much of your shots are handheld? At 2:25 for example, I see very clean subtle camera movement that looks like handheld but is too much for a gimble. Is that actually handheld or done in post?

Wow, thank you for the kind words! I really appreciate it. So yes, lots of hand held and that shot (looking down at her leg) is handheld. I added the push in in post. I actually keyframe pretty much all shots in our edits so that I can help with eye trace as well as draw a attention to subjects. I also like to add keyframes to change up the energy of the edit (so up to 15-20% post-zooms on shots on the dance floor, for example). I just like everything to be moving and flowing. I hope that helps!

The sound quality is absolutely amazing! If I may ask, what kind of microphone did you use to achieve such incredible audio? By the way, I've been tuning in to your videos quite frequently, and they never cease to amaze me. Both the visuals and the sound are consistently outstanding!

That’s so kind of you to say! Glad you’re enjoying them and happy to say we have some great videos coming over the next few months. Audio wise, we use tascam dr10l’s. We put them on the bride, groom and officiant. We also plug a zoom f3 into the sound board and attach a Sony tx660 to the hand held mic. For the speeches it’s a zoom f3 in sound system and then we’ll tape a lav to the hand held mic. Hope that helps!
