I don't know if you guys read all of the comments, so I'll post mine here again. you should buy you 1 or even better 2 dogs ! Any predators that threaten your chickens would no longer come to your area. Dogs mark their territory and any other predator can smell this and then largely avoid that area. If you pop the chickens in with the goats, once they get used to each other; the goats will protect the chickens from a whole range of predators. We've been doing it for years and have way less attacks.

I am so sad as well. Even crying and is not my chickens but I can't avoid. The rooster had tried to defend them. He was a brave one, and now he is a star in the sky. I though when you go out you would lock them, as before it happens with B there and daylight. I understand also the predators need to eat and if I see them in the road I always avoid them, not like some who run the car on purpose to kill them. Yes goats or sheep's frighten more the other small predators. Also Fernando tried to help, I think.

Also roosters aren't fluffy bunnies, they can defend themselves and Fernando should have at least one sign of a fight on his body. Also Fernando then dragged a fighting rooster that far?? I really can't see it.

Beautiful rooster. He died fighting the mongoose to keep his hens safe. A noble death. He was lucky and didn’t get carried off the go round with foxes several months ago. My condolences for Bee and Theo.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. It can really be a traumatizing experience. I lost a favorite hen to a coyote while free ranging in my back yard. He apparently was watching from under my house and snatched her the moment I walked away. I'm thankful you were not home to hear it. Love you guys.

I’m so sorry about Betty! It’s horrible that you have to go through this. It’s amazing to hear Theo tell how different it is without Betty watching over the chickens. This is farm life and sadly, common. I watch a couple homestead channels and they’ve had a few chicks gotten by one predator or another. As you develop your farm with other animals you’ll eventually need some type of livestock guardian animal. I’ve watched alpacas, donkeys, ginnies ?sp and dogs act as guardian animals and they all have their perks. Again, I’m really sorry about Betty!
