Congratulations! So very happy for you both. I think if the idea of a traditional wedding stresses you out, then don't do it! Plan a trip, just the two of you, get married and record it. Don't tell anyone that you're getting married on that trip. Then come home, throw a big party with all your loved ones and surprise them with the news and watch the wedding video all together on a projection screen. Then celebrate your love and your union with your loved ones for the rest of the night.

Omg! Congratulations you two!!! I've been watching you since the beginning, and cried in happiness for yall! I got eloped, and spent only $200 on dress, ordained minister, and marriage certificate. We did a small reception with buffet style food that we cooked ourselves. It was so simple, inexpensive and worth every penny saved. ❤

My husband and I eloped in Hawaii in 2021 and it was PERFECT. We spent about $2500 with photographer, flowers, officiant, dress and his shirt and we got a vacation/honeymoon out of it. We have zero regrets! Eloping is the way to go! I was very much like you, anxious about the attention and I’m so glad we did this. We’ve been married 2 years with a baby boy now. Soooo excited for you, and can’t wait to see you in this wife and mom chapter!! 🎉

Congratulations! We eloped and don’t regret it at all. The one thing I regret is not having a reception. Having a reception to celebrate with family as you stated would be my advice

So happy for you guys!! I got married 10 years ago, we chose to have a small wedding. We celebrated our 10th year anniversary while I was 30weeks pregnant! For our wedding, we only invited about 50 people. Only very close family on a venue beach side. It was perfect. I also agree with eloping and having a dinner at someone’s house with immediate family and taking the wedding money for a honey moon or future kids expenses.

Congratulations!!!!! First off no matter where u get married God is there, where two or more of gathered ♥️ secondly it’s unfair it is to have a nice wedding and it cost so much for just a few hours and few photos! I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 22 years this June! We did it at a courthouse! Get married how u two want and do a party to celebrate with loved ones! Sad to say but how many people spend so much money on a wedding to just divorce a few years later. If u invite God into your wedding and marriage that’s ALL YOU NEED!!!! God bless u both ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Congrats! When I was engaged the thought of planning a wedding was overwhelming. We initially planned to get married in SF but pandemic hit. So then we decided to have an intimate wedding in Yosemite a year later which saved us thousands. The one thing that my husband and I thought was worth doing before we got married was to invest our time in marriage counseling with our pastor.

and just in case it may help - when my hubby and I were planning our wedding, we DIY’d a lot of things and asked family for help with things like DJing, food, decor, etc. (all of our connections definitely came in handy here 😅) my mom is a seamstress and my dad used to own a flower shop so that helped a lot on saving money. my hubby and i both come from big families and knew we wanted to invite everyone, but also knew we didn’t wanna spend a ton as - like you and Johnny mentioned - the wedding is just a day, but the marriage is a lifetime. we decided we would rather put more money towards a honeymoon and buying a house so my hubby had a budget and we prioritized the things we wanted to spend the most on (photography and food mainly), and then decided which things weren’t necessary, so in the end we had our church ceremony (simple DIY decor), and then buffet style reception. my sister on the other hand is just like you where she didn’t want any attention on her, so her and her hubby had a super small and intimate wedding (church ceremony + backyard reception at his grandparents house which actually was all in San Diego!) and then planned to have a reception/party back home where everyone else could attend. my cousin also did a similar thing too (had a very intimate ceremony in Hawaii), then had a reception back home, and before they walked in they had someone play a video of their ceremony so people didn’t feel like they completely missed out. for now though I’d say enjoy every moment of being engaged and have fun! try not to sweat the small things as this is a moment in your life that will only happen once, and i would hate for you to look back and have any “what if” thoughts ya know? pray on it and God will guide both of you, and put him in the center of your relationship 🙏🏻 love you two! ❤

Congrats, Jackie & Johnny! So thrilled for you both! 🎉 I am usually a silent subscriber but I had to comment when I saw that you guys got engaged! 🥹 My husband and I had an elopement ceremony at a national park and invited our immediate family and closest friends. We had a dinner at a hotel within the national park following the ceremony. It was perfect to keep it small and intimate. Also getting married at a national park is affordable because for the venue, you only have to pay for a permit and ranger costs depending how large your wedding is and also decorations are very minimal because the views/backdrop are already stunning. Planning a wedding of any size can be very stressful but my advice would be to do what works best for you both. At the end of the day, please do what makes you feel happy. 🥰

Congratulations 🎉🎊 so happy for you guys !! I got married in 2021 and we did a smallish get together at our house. I initially wanted a backyard wedding but the timing and logistics didn’t work out. We were able to fit approximately 70 guests. Invite those you like and remember it’s both of your day ! Reach out to family if you would like their help. If doing a party, start early such as guest list and finding a location /venue. I’m a very shy person and we had the officiant come to our house. We only had photographer no videographer. I like looking at photos since it’s more of the highlights. Wish you guys all the best 😊

I’m so excited for you guys! We are probably going to elope as well. It’s so freaking expensive! We have a cute little elope place here in an old historic courthouse. They have packages where they do all the planning. It includes the official that marries you, flowers, pictures, and cupcakes etc.

Gonna make a second comment lol. But we considered eloping. The wedding planning process was fun for us but also brought a lot of awful feelings and stuff up as well due to family options… I do not regret a single thing about our wedding, and we received help financially from both of our families and we were very fortunate in that. But Since it seems like you DONT want that, then ELOPE!! Elope just the two of you, or with Zoey or invite your closest family members (immediate) if desired and then throw a big party all together later. Like a reception. Pray on it, slow down and enjoy the engagement season, but most of all do what feels right for you as individuals and as a couple. After all this season is about you, and no one else!!

WOO HOO!!! 🎉 congratulations Jackie & Johnny! ❤️ been following you since the beginning and i’m so so happy for you both to start this new chapter in your relationship 🥳 God is truly so good, and His timing is always perfect 🙏🏻 it’s so funny that you mentioned how you and Johnny have the same ring size, because when my hubby was looking for rings for me before he proposed, we had the same ring size so it was easier for him to shop around and see how the ring would eventually look on my hand 😂 and when he finally did, like you, I knew that day that something was up, but when he actually proposed I totally cried and reacted so emotionally and genuinely surprised when I thought I too would be like “finally!” 😅 Blessings to you both in this new year 🥂

I keep saying this but congrats to you both!! Regarding a wedding or elopement, leave it in God’s hands. An elopement isn’t a bad idea either. My sister’s good friend and her longtime boyfriend, who coincidentally is my sister’s boyfriend’s best friend recently got married. They had only them, their two kids and the person who officiated their marriage. All of them wore yellow instead of the typical wedding attire. My mom remarried and only had her, my stepdad and our church pastor and his wife who were the witness. Simple. It’s all what you and your significant other want. Love you guys and sending lots of aloha to you! Congratulations!

We ended up eloping instead and it was the best decision!! And we just asked for my parents and their blessings. We shared our elopement video once we got it with everyone.
