Good info to put out there guys. FYI Free shipping is not FREE. Shops cover the shipping or partial even if you pay for shipping. If it is over sized it is dramatically more which we end up having to cover. Many times we lose money, not worth the sale. One of the main reasons we stopped shipping to Hawaii. The shipping cost increase was so dramatic it actually made a huge mail order go bankrupt. P.S. this bike would look nice with a disc brake ;)
@cruisinginthe808
@cruisinginthe808 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely!! Shops pay for shipping if it’s advertised as “free” for sure. It’s just that we never get that because we’re in Hawaii. I totally understand and what sucks is that the shipping companies have jacked up their prices so high within the last 6 months that’s it’s near impossible to ship a bike anymore! Not the shop’s fault at all and I’m not blaming PeddlePower for not honoring their $65 price on shipping. I was just surprised they had it that low and they ended up canceling my order anyway. Appreciate you guys sharing that comment and watching the video!! 🤙🏼

Bernie is right on! Ship to Oregon and fly it back home with yah. Just tell the wife its content for the channel and get her something from PDX…no sales tax! Safe travels Kev! Enjoy the PNW…besides Hawaii its one of my favorite parts of the country. Look forward to the next builds. Mahalo!!

The fork steerer is long so you can cut it to fit all the different frame and stem combinations. MTB forks are the same way. They are all cut to length (steerer tube).
@01FozzyS
@01FozzyS Жыл бұрын
Sweet! I'm liking where this is going. My pro-tip when cutting steerer tubes: instead of buying the expensive Park tool guide, I just use an old stem as my guide for the saw. And I use a hacksaw. Less violent than a recipro. lol Hope the wheels arrive soon,guys!
@cruisinginthe808
@cruisinginthe808 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I was a little worried when Bernie busted out that saw! We definitely need to maybe use a hacksaw or get a pipe cutter. Your idea about using an old stem is a good one! Thanks for sharing that and for watching!!

For getting things REALLY clean, try Quick & Bright. (or something like that. It's the pink paste). I bet it will clean white grips and wheels really well.

@cruisinginthe808
@cruisinginthe808 Жыл бұрын
I thought about that too but the forks were chrome and I wanted to stick with the suggestion from our friend in Texas who told us that the chrome forks come with the frame kits so if we kept it chrome, more people might know we built the bike rather than buy a fully stock one. Appreciate the suggestion and you watching though!! 🤙🏼

I love your new build. I recently purchased a blue SE monster quad. It’s to big for me. I’m used to my old hutch pro racer and trick star. I’m in my 50’s now. I thought I would like the big 29” monster quad. I’d get a 26” hutch xl , I don’t want the wait years to get it. I’ve been looking at the Race inc and the S&M ATF . Anyway love you guys..

Are you talking about a cruiser in the BMX racing type of situation? For me anything bigger than a 20” was considered a cruiser so that’s why I call all of these bigger BMX bikes cruisers. We just ride them to cruise around the neighbor so to me they are cruisers. But we all may have our own definitions of them. Main thing is you ride them! Thanks for the comment and for watching! 🤙🏼

I've noticed that you guys don't install front brakes. Why is that? I think the wider bars help it look well proportioned to handle a taller / bigger bike. I've cut new bars back by only 1/2" and regretted it.😫 It needs the blue stem to prevent it from becoming to chrome-heave up front. Can those brake levers work on either side or is there an obvious left and right?
@cruisinginthe808
@cruisinginthe808 7 ай бұрын
Since we just ride our bikes around our town, we donʻt really need front brakes all that much. There is a ride we do that goes down a steep hill that would be better to ride with front brakes to help but if we do that ride, I like to use by Monster Quad with disc brakes in the front and back, unless I have a friend riding it. These bars were too wide for my liking and I actually could have cut even more and Iʻd be fine. Brake levers for the back are normally on the right side but I do have a photographer friend who mounts it on the left because he uses his right hand to hold his camera. They can pretty much be swapped but some of them will have designated front and back levers based on their design. Best is to just check the manufacturer to see. Thanks for the comment and for watching! 🤙🏻

Thanks for watching the vid anyway. 🤙🏻
