“Losing a knight that’s just like another day to me” 26:42 chess pun? I never know with you
@JohnDoe-th9rj2 жыл бұрын
For the position at 15:30 and 23:36, the reason that a3 is a blunder is not really because NL didn't take the knight. It's because the bishop to b4 skewer idea that NL was trying to set up for is available even without the extra pawn move. After exf6 gxf6, you can immediately go Bb4 for the skewer because Qxb4 blunders mate in one with Qh7#, since at that point black has no piece guarding the 7th rank. You can verify this as top machine line by inputting the position into stockfish. tl;dr: a3 is a wasted move that allows black time to potentially recover from a completely lost position.
@Potbelly762 жыл бұрын
I saw that too! But too lazy to check on engine
@ribbonsofnight2 жыл бұрын
yeah, that was my analysis too. Also too much when you see a good move look for a better one going on. Take the knight and be up a piece.
@ellismanning31632 жыл бұрын
what might the potential recovery be?
@JohnDoe-th9rj2 жыл бұрын
@@ellismanning3163 The clearest way to defend that I can see is Qf8, and after exf6 Qxg6+ Kf2/Kh1 Qxf6 black has 3 pawns for the knight, and white's king is relatively exposed. Not sure how stockfish would evaluate that position but I assume it would be a +2ish advantage for white which is still good but not nearly as good as being up a queen and totally crushing

wow in the first game black went from -5.5 in the end game to +7.2 with one pawn push. basically the equivalent of hanging all 4 of their minor pieces lol. maybe its just bc im mad at chess but g6 seemed like such a great move. After thinking you’ve been losing the whole game I don’t think I’d have the rught mindset to expect there to be such an immediately crushing blow in the position. and I definitely wouldn’t think itd be from pushing an undefended pawn thats pinned to my bare king
