The challenge of fitting the back window went better than we expected but now we need to tackle the A pillar windshield post. Bad Chad really doesn't know how he's going to go about this so it's going to be completely on the fly using the old fashioned trial and error technique 😅

Hey Chad. I want to thank you for entertaining us every day after supper like you do. Your skills for modifying cars are simply amazing. Having said this, I have to say that you look a bit tired since you came back from Australia. You're a grown man and I won't try to tell you what to do but take it from a guy who burned out more than once. It's no fun trying to climb up the hill again after you crashed. Just remember that even if the channel is on a roll you still have control over your work days and not the other way around. 🤙

Bad Chad what up man... saw your show last winter i believe and just happened across your youtube channel. Makes me wish i was your neighbor but my farm is in the northeast US instead. U make some beautiful stuff buddy. Was so amazed to see what u build and how u go about the process of reshaping based off rust lines. Love what u do buddy wouldnt mind talking to u one day about building me a old school truck of sorts. It would be a you style truck though not asking for something normal obviously. But u kick butt man love your work and your vision. I took welding 20 years ago in high school so someone knew how to weld on the farm and seeing u cutting and welding makes me want to find a build it myself kinda hotrod. But i know its not as easy as u make it appear. What u do is no joke.

Bad ass I am in my mid 60's and I remember in the 70' s and 80's when chopping the old sedans the roof was cut and a long section or triangular sliver was welded in so that the roof could stretch back to the origional pillars. If not sectioned and stretched, the pillars had to be cut and tipped inwards to meat the top. That also necessitated the cutting of the box section at the top so that the pillars could meet the new angle of the bottom pillar. Some guys cut the pillar off from the top at the height required and raked the whole side of the pillar out to meet the bottom so that the pillar itself was in one piece and it was then easier to mate the top and bottom because its in one piece. Needs a lot of skill to chop a top and you have it. Well done. Keep on keeping on Heads up Eyes open No fear

Hey Chad, I got an idea! To find out where the lip that you’re gonna make for the bottom edge of the windshield needs to be welded on, if you were to take the split rubber and slip it over a piece of glass or metal or something perfectly flat but no wider than the windshield opening and slip it on the top lip and side lip ,then take a sharpie and mark that lip on the inside of the original one with a sharpie, against the glass or metal template, where you plan on putting the new lip, it will make up for the fact that glass won’t flex and it will take the guesswork out of keeping it flat. That way, the rubber won’t have to absorb very much imperfection, since glass can absorb any.

I never thought he would try to approach it this way. I would have thought that cutting the roof just forward of the b-pillar and stretch it by adding a few inches so the a-pillars and the windshield matched up would be easier. There's some curvature to the roof that might be tough to match, but at least it's not anywhere near as complex as trying to reshape the entire front of it and get it to match the existing lines. But I'm sure Chad will prove his way is the right way. Also know that I'm all hot air when it comes to things like this. I know a lot, but have done little with it, so I'm not claiming to know what would actually work.

He's doing what he can with what he's got & seems to make silk purse outa pigs ears. Having less fear seems to be the key to learning more & more quickly. Hats off to them both. You sure do amazing work. I could not figure out how you were putting those front posts. But you did it... That car is so big and large that it does not look like it was chopped.

Big fan and I know it's your car you do it how you want but the correct way would have been to cut the roof across the top and pull it forward you said you're trying to save yourself some work but I mean you just made yourself the same amount of work in my opinion of course

section the roof and move it forward add the 2" it needs to line right up, the door cut offs from the drop would fill the door lengths, all you need is the upper sill filled, you can do that, stretch your boundaries.. I think it would have fit much better interior wise had you stretched the roof or extended it to line up the A pillars.. 6 of 1 I get that, my thought is the side door windows will roll right up if you extend the roof that 2" or so, and to dress the interior all you need to do is drop the door panels some, add a little to the upper trim, perhaps you can you cut the glass to its new shape or?

To us novices it looks like the entire roof needs to come forward a inch or so. Looking forward to seeing how you resolve this issue

brush paint primer and paint right over the welds. (no overspray) The plane of the front glass now will become a challenge, as the top & bottom no longer line up. You will figure it out though as you always do. I can already picture you doing such.

I think it would look cool to put stitches along the repairs, maybe either black for the sutures or a blue color similar to the car. It would actually highlight the minute amount of material that was actually used to put the car back together. When you really think about it , it is unbelievable.

With all honesty, you really really do have to know what you are doing. If not you could mess it up real bad. And somewhere really I think Jolene has the same vision. She also knows what she’s doing. Keep up the good work guys.

Looks like something caught fire at the end. Normally, you section the roof and move it forward to mate with the windshield posts. I think in this case, you can lean the windshield back as it is only flat glass. Definitely a head scratcher.
