Changing the angle of the door to fit the windshield (roof chop fabrication)

The door no longer fits since we changed the angle of the windshield so today we need to reconfigure things to make it work. The fabricating continues... Did we make the right move by not cutting the roof in half like it's done traditionally? Time will tell 👀

You never cease to amaze! The rear end, I would have approached COMPLETELY different, and I had NO IDEA how you were going to manipulate those front corners and make them work, but here we are again, as usual, mission accomplished! That must be why I keep coming back for more. Wow! Good job, my man!!!! I know your not done, but a couple of hurdles are now under the belt.

It blows my mind how quickly he makes decisions on what to do. I would think on something for two days just trying to figure out how to tackle something like the door. Which is probably why a one week project takes me a month. I wish I could visualize something that quickly and just get it done. 👍👍

Hello Chad & jolene, great watching you muddling your way through the build 😂👍 make yourself a small pull along table to put your tools on, grinder, pen, tape etc. Something you can even grind and weld on top of, instead of being on the floor all the time. I used to have one as a panel beater many years ago. Handy small work bench on wheels, it only has to be small. All the way from the UK 🇬🇧 I've just noticed you've got one with a small welder on up against the side wall. Cover the top in metal so you can grind and weld on. It'll help jolene with the camera work also, you not bobbing up and down every two minutes 🤣👍

Old School practicality has been around much longer than all the fancy technology of the present day! Old school here, was building cars in the sixties and prior, Guess what? We were happy to have a torch and stick welders and lead finishing capabilities, And ...... Being a guy from Southern California doing cars, How many beauties have been built back in the Day?? Chad is practical and uses his talent to do things many today are criticizing. That were very productive and gave awesome results way back then! There is a lot to learn on this site in my opinion. I am always amazed at Jolene's camera work. There a many people who are putting welding instructions on the internet and NONE gets the clear view that Jolene can. I can't remember where I saw it? But Chad you need to spend a couple of hours to make yourself a grinder stand. Take an old office chair, cut the chair off, weld a post extension on, ring halo about chest height, weld brackets on halo to hold multiple grinders/da/drill, zip tie power adapter to post to plug all grinders at once, tray or hooks on post for extra discs. Everything there, ready to go on wheels with power. 👌😁👍

But I'm always torn between leaving stock when it's in such good shape or chop her up. Either way it works out nice in the end. Because what you did was clean up the lines. I bet you a lot of people except for looking at the windshield would look at it and say where did chop it? Because only the windshield looks narrow down the rest of it looks as if it could have been built that way .👍

When working on the door post to be fitted back on the bottom edge, Chad spoke of the way the length of the edge gets longer when cut at an angle and the point where the two curves change when cutting one side. One way to get the curve to 'place nice' is to cut equal amounts off both post and door to adjust the angle. Unless it is a huge difference needed off the old angle and new, the end points of both curves should stay fairly lined up.
