One of my fav songs ever too omg I was like 13 when it came out. My family was so poor I couldn't afford cds or a boombox and all I had was a cassette Walkman and one of my friends made me a copy of what all could fit. Then my parents split and I had to move away. And I listened to that tape til it got all warped. I lived with headphones on. Then I bought the cd as soon as I could when I finally got a job and stuff and now i still have them in my car for road trips lol

Definitely one of the best NIN songs... and it's funny to see the guitarist play this so calmly. As someone who's NOT a guitar player, in my head you'd be assumed to play this angrily. He's so calm (and good). I wonder if he makes an angry face when he's doing boring shit, like taxes or something.
@TeleClassy23 жыл бұрын
the song is pretty simple (not a bad thing), usually guitarists make stanky faces when either the song is really difficult or you get really into it (like at 1:55 and 2:20)

I've played this song on guitar for about 20 years. The wall of sound on it is more symphonic than destructive. As a guitarist, playing this song is like pointing a BFG 9000 at your own demons. A rally cry for life. You wanna see a guitarist get the rage face, March of the Pigs and it's insane 5/4 timing is where it's at 👺
@Anesthesia16193 жыл бұрын
This is one of my favourite songs ever too. This song was a song that I shared with my best friend when we were teens. He committed suicide a while back. I miss him horribly. For real I never listen to NIN for vocals, Reznor only fascinated me with his production. This is the first time I've heard NIN in a way, and its a lot to process... fucking awesome video. I am impelled to mention a similarity I feel between Lateralus era Keenan and this performance. Not so much in the technique but in the motivation. Emotiv... motive is the real hook in any good singer, they can have all the honey or gravel an ear can handle but if that heart dont ring they can't sing...

Not sure if you'll see this but I wanted to say something beyond just how great this particular video is. I used to surround myself with music. I did choirs as a kid, even got to travel and was on TV a couple of times for those corny christmas day local tv station things where choirs since christmas carols all day (I don't think that happens anymore though), tried my hand at a variety of instruments etc etc. Nothing ever really stuck but the singing. I grew up, eventually gave up on the singing, but still was surrounded by music. I'd listen to all kinds of things, I wasn't really a genre specific person. If it was good, I could find joy in it. As I got older, I listened a little less, but still more than I'd guess the average person did. The last couple of years, for some obvious, and some less than obvious, reasons, that had changed. I had pretty much stopped listening to music, almost entirely. One of the few threads that I held on to was checking out when you did new covers or new 10 second song videos. This current year, though, the pendulum has swung. I've been listening again, to both new and old stuff, and I'm still holding on to that thread of when you release music. You making music, of whatever kind, has played a significant role in that pendulum swing. It's a beautiful thing to see someone taking so much joy in creating new music or offering tribute to music others have created. So, thank you, what you do is appreciated. Also, I'm more than a little jealous of the voice.

I miss this era of NiN. Not saying that the new stuff they do is bad or anything, but damn do I miss this stuff. This is my teenage years in a nutshell. It wasn't about the goth style for me, the music was so damn good. The way it blended different soundscapes and noises, the way it brought beauty from simple. The lyrics had such deep meaning. I may be just getting old, but I swear the 90s had some of the best heavy music ever made.
