I'm so grateful for your patnership with Weaver. I came across your channel last year and you guys and Weaver made getting into the craft so very accessible. And it's been some of the most fun I've ever had. I'm really excited to see what you do next!

The stitching chisel is an exciting idea. I must have 10 sets of stitching chisels and the ones that I use most are Sinabroks (from Buckleguy) 1.2 mm holes at 5 mm spacing. I find that 1mm Ritza 25 thread sews so easily with the big holes. Every other stitching iron produces tiny, thin holes that are difficult to sew with thick thread. The Weaver diamond chisels produce a great hole but the handles are so thin they are hard to hold and strike. I hope your new chisels are not Japanese or French style. Diamond, please. Thick handle for ease of use. 5 mm is the spacing you usually use and that works on most items. Sounds good.

Love all of this! I've so very much appreciated watching your evolution over the years in your videos, from non-speaking tutorials to adding dialog (you're great it at, love the authenticity), to your partnership with Weaver, and now on to your next adventure. Same with Buckleguy, they have grown over the years and expanded and it seems natural that you ended up with each other. Looking forward to more collabs and more videos, and more learning! :D Thanks for the help over the years, you filled a big gap in what i was looking for on KZbin, it was like you were talking to me personally. KZbin University can be a dicey place, but you guys always make things easy, concise, real, and enjoyable - looking forward to more, and Congratulations! (Now all we need is a new coupon code. ;-D )

I have what I hope isn't s dumb question, and forgive me if it's in one of your other videos that I have not had a chance to watch yet. Where did the name Corter come from, and what do double hooks mean? Thank you.
@Corter2 жыл бұрын
no such thing as dumb questions! Corter came from my AOL Instant Messenger screen name in highschool which was CorterLifeCrisis, which is a john mayer lyric "might be a quarter life crisis" except the QU spelling was taken. I shortened it to "corter" when I started using message boards The double hooks mean whatever - they could be fish hooks becuase we live on Cape Cod, they could be curved gloving needles, but ultimately they are a C and an L crossing for Corter Leather :)
@DrawerFullofRocks2 жыл бұрын
@@Corter what a cool story about the name and mark. I like it! Funny. I live in New Mexico and the other day I saw a car decal with two hooks quite similar to your logo. I was like, hmmm since we live in the desert that is kinda out of place here---what could that mean in the greater scheme of things...life and all. It reminded me of you guys, so I sat in the car for a bit looking up possible meanings. But now you've explained what it means to you, so that's good enough for me. Thanks for sharing your story.❤

@@Corter Thanks! Which size did you get? I see 40, 42, and 45.

@@DavZell I've got a 42 on in this video but I'm also almost 6 and a half feet tall with 5 1/2" palms, an 8" wrist, and forearms that have been doing leatherwork 60 hours a week for 15 years haha - they wear big and chunky and they've got some heft being solid brass cases, I'd err on the smaller side if you're between two sizes. I was at checkout with the 45 and i'm VERY glad I thought twise and went 42, and this is my "smallest" watch by numbers. It wears bigger than a 45mm seiko diver.

@alexissolaris2 жыл бұрын
I have no idea if your ever respond to comments but like where is the buckle guy factory? I have always assumed China. 100 dollars for a set of pricking irons or for a single pricking iron? I would say both KS Blade and Sinabroks are close to the 100 mark per iron. I wonder if this why Buckleguy hasn't restocked their line of Sinabroks irons in 5-6 months.
@Corter2 жыл бұрын
Their factory is overseas, yea - it's important to note though that, unfortunately, it's nearly impossible to make the quality they produce domestically these days because the generational knowledge of casting has been gone in the US for decades. We tried 10 different American foundries desperately aiming to keep our metal stuff made in the usa, and no one could beat the quality of their work. I'll be transparent, we pay more per unit than we did making them in the USA. But the quality and finishing is unparalleled and I've been designing and having custom cast metal work made for almost 15 years at this point. That's a totally honest take, I made the same comment a year ago about them before we were working together in the capacity we are now.
@alexissolaris2 жыл бұрын
@@Corter Interesting and unfortunate that we've de-industrialized to this point as a country. I suspect some where in the US is a company that can do what you need but they're probably using those skills to make weapons for the military or for civilians. It's just conjecture but I would expect high quality casting is required for reliability.

I use Buckleguy when I have to - their shipping is absurdly high and their brass is made in China (they claim it is in their factory). Glad to see that you're going to continue to make videos.
@Corter2 жыл бұрын
It is, they own the factory - have for decades. Unfortunately generational foundry knowledge left the USA a long time ago, there just aren't the resources to make the quality here that they produce over there. I've tried over a dozen US foundries and they're the best quality I've ever seen (they're also not the cheapest, which is a common misconception. Their finishing is phenomenal) Lots of proprietary techniques going on that I'll never be able to share, but are super interesting and make their hardware the best quality IMO. It's why we have them make all of our custom pieces, you can't beat em.
