Speaking of people not liking pickles, I'm working on a couple pickle recipes specifically for people who don't like pickles. My brine is a mild salt water and spices rather than vinegar, so the pickle itself is more like a salted cucumber and not too overpowering. Then i take those pickles and prep them 3 ways; spears, 1/8" thick rounds and 3/8 thick rounds. We're making fried pickles. Wet batter is 1 part flour, 2 parts water and hot sauce added to taste. Dry is 1 cup flour, 1 tsp each salt/pepper/garlic/chili/cayenne/paprika. Pat dry the pickles, batter them dry->wet->dry, fry until golden brown and delicious. Serve with a dipping sauce of choice. My "boom sauce" is 2 parts mayo 1 part franks red hot.

Love this build. Just a few thoughts to help you maybe. When building your link points, use a scrap piece of tube that is the same width of the joints you are using, to go between the brackets that need to be welded. Then put a .050 shim on either side, and bolt them in. Welding the brackets will shrink the metal. When it's time to install the joints, they will just slide right in, no hammer needed. Plus, the heat doesn't beat on your joints, breaking down the rubber. Also, to help locate the axles, get your square points figured out, then just tack on a nut to the frame, and drop a plumb bob down, and crank on the link until it touches the axle. No need to remeasure all the time. For a plumb bob, all you need is string and a heavy nut to hang down, doesn't have to be a real plumb bob. For the record, I really wish I could be there to help build this thing. I build dirt race cars for fun, when I can. Never built a rescue rig, and would love the challenge. Been a fabricator for awhile, and I've learned from some great folks along the way. Keep it up, yall are doing great

Great ideas. Personally I use lasers instead of plumb bobs, and I superimpose all the Lines of the frame and mounting points down to the ground, Draw it out completey and then its there until the project is done. No need for ten plumb bob lines hanging down everywhere, (2 for axle, 8 for 4 link mounts two each) and the a few high quality lasers will let you check parallel, square and plum lines to infinity across the entirety of the frame in any location, nut just the intersections.

This rig looks like it is straight out of Max Max / The Road Warrior, but in the best way possible. Amazing to see this build. 50-100 years from now when this is on an auction block perhaps, these videos documenting its construction will be one heck of a boost to it's selling price!

Just saw that Johnny Boy was from Tooele. I was assigned to the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) during Desert Storm in the AIMD shop and there was a guy named Steve Anderson that was from there. Great guy. Only reason I can spell and pronounce Tooele properly, lol. I like how Matt is talking about his various oil coolers on the Jeep and Morrvair. You really can tell a lot about a system by looking at the oil. If it looks clean and clear, it's usually not getting too hot or being overworked. Instead of only checking the levels, or just changing it regularly, monitoring the condition can alert you to problems that are developing.

I had a craftsman weighted down in the front with chains on the rear .. go up the mountain , drive it in the snow too.. I had a buddy come over we made him one off-road mower .. too That’s when we started racing. In the cow pasture. We rigged them up with lights for night time lol 😂. Racing in the mud ..

I know this is a bit late but did you ever install drain valves on your frame rails that you're using as compressor tanks? As we all know compressed air creates water and water and bare steal leads to a bad day later on. drain valves will allow to purge any buildup of water. Maybe you could install an automatic purge system that purges every so many minutes or hours to keep water at bay. Love how the build is coming sofare. keep up the good work. 👍👍

@@AndrewAMartin Yeah, but it ain’t that much pressure. 3/16 wall 2” square is probably good for 600 psi with no visible distortion, their system will not be over about 150. The real issue is condensate. Hopefully those sections got a good interior paint coating, and a blowdown valve.

Besides being the biggest wrecker, it's pretty cool, you have the others already beat by style. The older cab on it is just perfect, and it's going to need a loud horn and lots lights. Might need and old fashion visor on the cab to keep the sun light from blinding you. Awesome job as always!

Hey Matt, I lived in death valley most of my life and if you fill milk containers with water and freeze them. You can put in swamp cooler and lower temp. Then just refreeze and repeat.

Matt two steel plates sandwiched with grease or sand between then put under the tires. This allows you to do these adjustment and alignment stuff much easier. Slip plates. Lets tires slide around and not fight you. As always. Great video.

A heavy duty loop/attach point mounted on both corners of that magnificent cab protector/roll bar should be added to be used occasionally as a HIGH point for a soft shackle holding a snatch block for redirecting wenching forces when advantageous in unique situations. Might come in handy for other uses occasionally, too….
