My tip on moving - Weeks before moving, I start with taking down every picture/painting from walls and declutter and pack remainder all together. Then I collect every piece of decor items throughout the house and declutter and pack. The house then looks bare and I can see what I am dealing with to pack. I also take down all the wall hooks, fill the holes and repaint, so that the new owners can put their hooks where they would like. Best wishes on your move! x

Thank you for talking about the prices for pods and moving a car! My friends hired a moving company and a car hauler to move their truck and belongings from Oregon to Ohio. I have only moved from Washington to Oregon in a big move, so not as far! I like the idea of PODS, as that gives you a place to put something as soon as your done packing it! I hate having boxes all over the house, just waiting to be moved! Like you, it creates massive anxiety for me! You have been doing amazing! I think it helps immensely, how organized you were to begin with!

Ok a easier way to do pods, shipping containers from the pros. Use 2x4 & sheeting composite floor that holds lb poundage. make several pedestals in the container. Fill then build fill then build. Having 2 specific layers gets everything in well, no smushing. So build a crude table then fill bottom & top and build crude table fill bottom & top. That's how every pro company places clothing in 2- 6 mil thickness bags abd pressure sealed bags vacuum bags on top of boxes reducing the load time. And allowomg boxes to be placed at each base under the tables. You can stack alot of thickness like rugs, bulk sacks on that top.

Wow! You look so professional! Four years ago we retired to the mountains and, since my hubby has a tbi, it was all left to me. Decluttering, selling, trashing, packing and cleaning were all on me. And I worked until five days before we moved! Our local grocery store kept me supplied with egg crates, which was good because they have handles. And then, we moved into a house that was fully furnished so, I had to clean her stuff out and then put our stuff in. WHAT A STRUGGLE! Hence, I WILL NEVER MOVE AGAIN! Girl! I feel you 100%! We just moved into a 700 sft 1 bedroom apartment from 3000 sft🤪 while we travel states to find out new forever home. And we're empty nester's! So we only had our stuff. It was and still is daunting! I'm slowly but surely finding a place for the things I did bring. You're fortunate to already have a home to go to. Yeah I knew we we were going to move and also downsizing from a large 3 bed flat to a 1 bed flat. I was running a pub with a very ill husband. before and after work I would take a section of a room and sort it out. Keep throw or donate and used one of the bedrooms to put boxes. In the end i had a whole room to get rid of. Threw lots of stuff away. Most stuff was packed, and everything was cleaned as I went. Took me 4 months...then we suddenly got a flat...but i was ready...we took two weeks to paint and decorate the new place. Everything fitted.

Thank you talking about the cost of moving. We moved and we’re almost clueless. We rented a large uhaul van 7 years ago and took some furniture but not a lot. We moved one state away. It cost about 6,000 dollars. But we drove the van here. And did all the packing and unpacking. So it was pricey. Way back 7 years ago!

We used PODS when we moved to our house 10 years ago and I cannot recommend them enough. Granted we only moved about an hour away from our former home but it was still the best idea we had. We are thinking of selling and downsizing ( 2 adults & 1 cat) and storing whatever we have left and will use PODS again Safe travels!!!

@@carolynlulinski8593 This is great advice! I remember moving when I was 5, about to turn 6 in a couple of weeks, and my brother was 8, turning 9 in 3 months. We camped out on the living room floor for a week! My mom’s original plan was one night, but we were having so much fun making a huge lean-to out of a couple of blankets next to the sofa that we BEGGED to stay there. So she worked in the rest of the house and had us work on unpacking our stuff in our rooms and, at the end of the week, we were in our beds. That will have been 60 years ago in August and I remember it like it was yesterday, it was THAT fun!

I go to the Grocery Store and ask for the Apple Boxes, they have a cover not to Big. They work out Great and free. Just go to the store talk to the Produce person if the can save some the boxes and what day you can pick up.

We moved from Southern GA to the middle of the mitten MI a year ago, let me tell ya it's expensive! The biggest Uhaul plus car dolly thing, our suv was completely on it, then fuel for the uhaul and diesel for our large truck then hotel stay at the halfway point with is Cave City Kentucky for 1 night. I can't remember exactly how much it all was but you want like 4 grand. Our move from MI to GA I think we set aside 6 grand. Stuff adds up!!

We also packed both of our vehicles as full as we could get them, and that is how we moved.😊My husband drove the U-haul truck pulling the trailer and a friend of my husband and I took turns with me driving our other vehicle. 😊

Moving can be ALOT of work , I had 4 kids and I would pack 1 room a day move everything into another room and clean the room and close it off so if I had 7 rooms I timed it so on the day before the move all I had to do is load 1 or 2 boxes with what we needed and put it on the truck and leave , made it ALOT easier I would pack laundry room and bathroom the same day , we always had a u haul 24 foot it was defiantly full but I always got excited to move , not so much anymore LOL !!!!

So when I moved from California to Illinois I used a moving company (something I will NEVER do again) it cost me $6000 by the end which was $2000 more than what I was told even after they came and packed up my stuff. When I moved to Arizona from Illinois I got a Penske truck and auto trailer and only spent $1700. I had more furniture on the move to Arizona. Moving company’s rip you off. Also it does depend on the time of the year you are moving. They will raise their prices when you are moving in the summer time, which is from May 15th - Sept 30th.

You did GREAT! I know you are so tired, but you saved a lot of money and all of this will pay off at your new home. Leave cleaning supplies in your van for your new home to deep clean it before moving in. The first thing to unload from the pods are the mattress to start resting so, it’s a good idea that the pods delivery people told you to load that at the end.

Thanks for your advice. I may have to pack up my home following death of my parents these last 2 years. I m single and lived with and looked after them.when I think of downsizing which I may have to for financial reasons I get very overwhelmed and see now that de cluttering is so important. And yet its so hard to try and discern what of a great long lifetime of things and treasures to say goodbye to. Any advice here would be welcome. As my mum is only recently passed I'm not rushing into anything. I have done some decluttering and tidying as I looked after both at home. Very therapeutic and as always your videos are motivational and these moving ones are great too. Good luck with all. CC 🇮🇪 Ireland
