You can fight gender roles without taking away a kids gender. If my child were to grow up and want to use they/them pronouns or end up being transgender then okay but for now they’re a girl or boy until they grow up and discover anything contradicting that on their own. My son wants to play with barbies? Cool. My daughter wants to play with trucks? Perfectly fine. But if my son wants to play with trucks and daughter with barbies then that’s perfectly fine to. Wanting your kid to develop an identity outside of gender stereotypes is fine not letting your son play with traditionally “boy” toys isn’t. Yes! Agreed! It's awesome that the parents are so open and loving, but there should be a time and place when these things are discussed, much like with sex education. You probably wouldn't start teaching sex Ed when the child is 5-6 right? Same with this - it should be left until a later discussion when a child is discovering who they are and what they want to be

So, she may wind up accepting her biological sex of birth, as well as embracing heterosexuality, or “traditional genders and preferences,” instead of the openness that she was raised with. Can we just not label kids as anything other than kids?
@Skatejock216 жыл бұрын
That is the problem. We need to identify as if you are boy or girl, biologically. Medically, you cannot treat someone's illness accurately without what you are born as. Everyone is insisting that you can just blanket label. Kids are kids, thats the generalization term, but they aren't just kids. They are a boy or girl. The brain MUST organize and label. We would go actually insane if we did not use boy or girl. When you tag on this notion of being transgender... the brain does not naturally assume that is correct. If anything is simple in this scenario, is that people are messing with natural man. I spent time in college studying how the brain functions in terms of how the brain organizes and why we label. The brain is a computer. This computer however, cannot just keep general terms. Especially when we already have an obvious born gender. You cannot just take it away and say it doesn't exist and say lets just call them kids. Kids grow up and puberty happens. Then they are no longer kids. That changed, they matured; yet today people want to mess with mother nature. Mother nature will always win. Our brain, will never fully digest the concept of transgender, it cannot.

@@xtina1fan and to add to that, I do recall as a child thinking that I must be a boy because I like boy things. My family never entertained the idea. Sure I didn't have to wear pink and purple, I still don't. However studies do show that 70% of kids grow out of it. Now, had my parents entertained the idea, I wouldnt be as happy as I am now. I am happy to be girl, I eventually accepted it. I am happily married to a great guy and I just wouldn't have this if my parents just followed what I said. These kids have no idea what they're talking about. The do not understand the concept. They haven't even reached physical or mental maturity yet to comprehend. I think much of today is solely for attention, gender dysphoria may be real, but it certainly cannot be the case for the vast majority. We all know that this idea gets a ton of media attention and here we are now, talking about it. We didn't talk about this 10 years ago. Nobody really cared 10 years ago. It's when you bring non issues to the surface and make a big deal. There is plenty of science telling us how the body and mind behave together, depression being one of them and even that concept is greatly ignored. People talk depression, but refuse to talk about how the concept coincides with other mental illness's regarding how the body and mind match. Gender dysphoria can be more easily treated if people were not pushing their agenda so hard on thinking acceptance is the only problem, when its not. It hardly has to do with acceptance. The only acceptance is that it is not socially accepted and the left is increasingly asking the wrong things from the general population. They want things to speed up faster then what has been known for centuries. They quite literally have to make up centuries worth of knowledge and experience to assume that transgender is a real thing and that kids can choose their gender.

Clothing is just gender expression, not gender identity. So some people who identify as genderqueer born as female would wear 'boys clothes' because they feel it reflects their emotional or mental feelings that make up your gender identity. In no way does the action of putting certain clothes on 'magically' change your gender. They're not pressuring her to not be straight they are literally saying you can be anything you want and you'll figure it out.

Just so you know, your sexuality doesn’t affect your gender at all and saying “coming from a straight woman’s perspective” and then talking about gender aren’t things that go together. When your family prioritises a specific issue or cause, it has a high chance of backfiring as the children become teenagers. Christian kids become atheists, vegan kids eat meat; children rebel! While this family seems nice and inclusive, pushing an agenda and worse, making it public, is not in the child's interest. I think parent A and B ( I'm not going to misgender here) are doing this to justify their lifestyle, more so than raising a self aware kid. Not everything has to be a cause, give the child lots of options and let it make it's own mind up.

Calling her transgender is just confusing her. I don't understand this. The world is a scary, confusing place for kids, and it is the job of parents to make it safer by placing boundaries, not removing them. They don't understand the damage they are doing to her psyche. Introducing gender dysphoria to a child who doesn't have it is criminal, imo.
@nyaanyaa36216 жыл бұрын

@brie92696 жыл бұрын
They are not calling her transgender the are calling her gender fluid. The aren't forcing her to switch genders they are teaching her that its okay to be herself, its okay to wear girl clothes, its okay to wear boy clothes, its okay to have a girl hair cut or have a boy hair cut. If they were forcing her to be transgender then she would only be wearing boy stuff and she would have male pronouns but she doesn't therefore they aren't forcing her to be transgender.
@huh50076 жыл бұрын
Joley Exactly. The father should understand how awful dysphoria is. Being trans isn’t something one can casually identify with because they don’t like strict gender expectations. It’s an identity that comes with many struggles. I’m not trans myself but my brother is and he struggles every single day with dysphoria and not being treated as his correct gender. Clothing isn’t even in the equation. This little girl is cis and shouldn’t be led to believe otherwise. I don’t think they’re bad parents, but they’re very clearly pushing her in the direction of being trans. It’s not okay. She should be taught that trans people exist and that it is perfectly fine to be it, and that she can dress and act however she wants (very separate concepts!) It doesn’t need to go beyond that.

@Elliot Rodger But you can't manipulate someone into being gender fluid. I'm wondering if you understood the meaning of gender fluid? It just means she can choose to be who she wants to be. How could she feel like she can't choose when her dad is transgender? Wouldn't it be hypocritical for the parents to say ''be a girl'' or ''be a boy'' when they themselves never fit into these categories?? Children can feel everything. The title is misleading and makes it sound like it's something you can impose on someone when it just frees someone from the social pressure that gender performance is. Maybe watch the video again with that in mind?

okay im trans but i dont agree with this. transgender people are literally 1% of the population, it is not common. and thats a good thing! gender dysphoria is awful. the chances of her falling along the spectrum are very low, statistically. It's okay to let her know thats its okay to be herself 200% and not forcing gender roles on her or saying "you have to play with barbies"; thats all positive. BUT I think its harmful when you enter the realm of "you dont have a gender" and pushing that on her and then the child is probably left confused. If they're trans, they're gonna know they're trans. If they're gender nonconforming, they're gonna know. I knew from a very young age that i was trans (like 6 or younger) and no one had to pressure me into being it. this video is just gonna bring hate to the trans community, thinking that we want all these radical (perhaps unhealthy) changes and we're crazy etc etc etc, and that does NOT represent the larger community.
