Good to know you have been doing research regarding your property. The notaire that handled the purchase of my property was explicit about the monument status. A portion of my house dates to the early 16th century and was the chatelet for a late medieval fortress for the Dax and Aragon families. It was enlarged in the 18th century prior to the Revolution. Everything I do to the exterior requires approval. I can do whatever I want to the interior. If you are needing approvals for work, keep in mind that the approval may require the use of certified artisans. That is one of my requirements and many of the certified artisans are booked for a year or more in advance. Bonne chance!

Every time there are drone shots of your property, it takes my breath away, so beautiful. I'm guessing everything done to the cottage so far would be ok for a historical building and fingers crossed, maybe even some grant funds for further improvements. Not being like a TV show is what makes y'all 's channel so much fun to watch. 😊

Providential Lincoln discovered that your outbuildings were registered? I think this will save you a lot of money in the long run. My grandfather owned over 100 acres on his property in New England and used to go out a couple of times a month to check for fallen trees, widowmakers, etc. and it was very physically intensive for him, but his woods were beautiful! He also had a spring with a small pond That had fish And I have wonderful memories of playing there as a child.

We retired to the Aveyron and bought a “ bougiouse house” with 4 apartments. We have been here for 2 1/2 years. It too is a project with 2 out of 4 apartments fully renovated. We had a 5 year plan and often shake our heads when people stop by to check on progress and say” you’ve only got that much done?” Take your time and get it done right. Enjoy the process. That’s what our plan has been and it may take another 5 years so people deal with it. Our project is small compared to yours so keep up the good work and don’t forget to live.

Be very, very careful about your inquiry with the notary about this classification. Once recognized, you will have for every little intervention the "architects des batiments de France" at your heels, and you need very, very, very deep pockets to fulfill their demands. The potential (I repeat - potential) public subventions are just a drop on a hot stone. As a previous owner of a flat in a historic building from the 14th century, I went through this. Only changing the door handles in the flat was a 12 months battle.
@gathan5286Ай бұрын
So true, EVERYTHING will have to be approved by them like what kind of materials you can use. it might cost you a lot more than you can afford. Do your research before you contact the Notaire.

12:35 A pergola and outdoor kitchen sounds like a wonderful idea for that corner! As a general rule I would encourage you not to plant anything within about 3 feet of the walls and lay down the landscape fabric. Then just put some gravel over it. I design homes and for my clients I always recommend a sort of "dry moat" of gravel 2 feet wide at the base of the walls. With beautiful landscaping outside that zone you'll hardly notice it's there. It's convenient because it provides a way to get _behind_ landscaping, in case you plant anything that gets bushy and needs a bit of trimming. But more importantly, keeping plants and plant roots away from the walls will help the walls last a lot longer. I hope you don't mind the bit of "free advice" that comes from 40 years in the residential design business.
