@dianegenx Жыл бұрын
@ashleyamber304 Over the last 7 years have they ever shown or mentioned a dive flag? It took the mom 6 years to purchase overboard watches when she finally admitted her children hadn't been wearing their life preservers at night. And for those 6 years, she had her teenagers doing night watch while she slept. Training and responsibility are great, but they're in the middle of an ocean with no help for many miles or many hours. I don't think they have any idea how incredibly lucky they've been.

Praslin in my honest opinion looks like a much nicer island! Beautiful and better preserved. And I don’t Blame Keith in saying he didn’t know if he’d come back. If you can’t comfortably swim and snorkel in particular that would spoil a big part of the experience. With all that being said, it is gorgeous at that anchorage, and although it’s a lot of boats nestled up close, it sure beats being at a cruise port or a crowded resort. And once you got to that beach there, I have to say what a great segment, lovely private little beach. Good music, food, and friends equal a good time. The rain on the other hand is calming. The tortoises were massive and so cool to see. You never know what new people will come into your orbit, the fit guy doing flips was pretty cool. Great video! Looking forward to next weeks :)

Love your channel! Just found it a week ago. Your family is awesome, your filming is fabulous. Renee, I love listening and learning about islands I've yet to explore. Seriously this is better than any travel channel show. Travel channel should pick you up. maybe they did and I don't know, cause I don't have cable anymore. Never anything on. lol Anyways, my family and I hail from Texas North of Houston. One day we'd love to sail as you all have. I just want to wait till my littles are a bit older. 4 and 6 now. I can really relate to your struggles with older kids living their own lives. As I have a 19 and 21 year old, who are out chasing their dreams. We are so proud but also so sad to not have em around much. I love how your older son has stayed on as part of the crew. He's learning so much along side y'all. What a difference to watch folks that have money while sailing giving them that ability to enjoy so much more. Of course they still need to budget but they can do proper repairs and updates without a lot of worry. Of course you can sail on a 2x4 if you so desire but a more modern vessel with updates makes more sense to me. Enjoy the journey.

One lesson I learned when I first learned to sail (some 45 years ago now) is NEVER tie fenders to the life-lines, it is too easy to pin one under the curve of a hull, or worse, under a piling and tear up a life line (and I also learned on a long weekend sail (I know NOT a 2 week passage) to have a spare of the longest life-line for the boat (you can always shorten one but trying to get those 2" is a bear), it might not be perfect but that is always one thing I have/had in a locker.

Don’t base yourselves just around Mahe. Venture out to Praslin, La Digue, Curieuse island. There are so many other places in Seychelles to explore. Mahe is my least favourite island. I lived in the Seychelles for a while. 🇸🇨 Also, Seychelles have so much more greenery than the Maldives, so rain is essential for the environment. So many endemic plants and species, the flora & fauna is unique. Please visit Vallee de Mai on Praslin island, national park/reserve, no other place like in the world. Also a trip to Bird island is a must.
