Haegeum was solely written, composed and produced by multi talented Agust D. He’s also credited with vocal and rap arrangement, record engineering, keyboard, synthesizer & background vocals for this track and several others on the D-Day album. Plus he came up with the storyboard for the MV.

Haegeum is both a traditional Korean string instrument and the idea of being liberated and freed from what is forbidden. Song leads up to the final of the trilogy. Suga said in an interview that it may be hard for us to see Agust D after the trilogy because of where he is in life now.

That's not Suga, that's Agust D! 😂 Min Yoongi makes music under different stage names: in BTS, he’s SUGA; solo, he can be SUGA or Agust D. The latter was born out of Yoongi’s desire to tap into personal issues and tell a deeper version of the stories that inform his lyrics in BTS. The word “haegeum” has different meanings in Korean. It describes a traditional Korean instrument (which can be heard in the instrumentals of the track), but it can also mean the lifting of a ban/prohibition, according to Doolset’s translation. So in the most basic sense this song is about liberation.

Amygdala (3rd on the trilogy after Daechwita and Haegeum) and Snooze are also amazing tracks from this same album (they’re all good, but these two really resonate with me).
