So many people don't recognise the "destructive trash monster that lives in the centre of your depression" and that's probably good. If you've ever had depression and you are aware of the destructive and negative forces swirling around in your mind, this song and the video makes perfect sense. It's cathartic and helpful - I listen to this track if I feel down. Jinjer is my medicine.

Tatiana’s influences wide ranging. From Lamb of God to No Doubt. You can really hear her channeling Gwen Stefani. The Jinjer sound has matured so much over the years and right now they are as good as any metal band going today. Tatiana is obviously the focus but the rest of the band is truly incredible at their craft. This band worked so hard to get where they are now, it’s truly inspiring seeing how far they have come. Excellent reaction guys, one of the best reaction channels on all of KZbin

@@TysonGiffordME I love "Vortex", so don`t get me wrong. It is actually that progression of pushing and soothing back and forward toward the total destruction at the very end. Who's Going to be the One (Live) Napalm Records is a great live performance by Jinjer. You guys would love it! OH! And this entire album rocks. As much as I loved their other albums, the big change that made it sound so much better for me - the drummer got rid of that "poppy" tom! That always grated on me when they really cranked it up and there was this high pitched tom thumping away over everything. He must have swapped it out and all sounds smooth now. 👍

Hello. Still a pleasure to see you react. What is realy cool with that band is they do many different things. someone who know nothing about music will never pick a song is from the same band that an other. But when you know a little about, you can pick "that bass line should be Eugen", "that drums should be Vald", ... Like you're back to jinjer, I think you could like Wallflowers, a "soft" one, and very major part is cleans vocals. And if you wan't hear Tati goes realy crazy with vocals, go to Pit of consciousness (live Kiev is (I think) better than album version. (one more time sry if my english is not perfect, I'm Belgian, not my native langage :) )

Love this song. It's about spiraling down into dark thoughts. Thoughts so heavy that they crush you like a lead ball and suck you into the hole they make as they smash through the floor. Basically spiraling out of control. This song is perfect for that kind of thing.
@hemlock399
@hemlock399 Жыл бұрын
Tati does the clean/growl switching & the final low guttural incredibly we live. Check out Jinjer - Vortex [Live Hellfest 2021]. Their lyrics are worth understanding. This song is about how negative thought patterns can drag you down into depression. The vortex represents that thought pattern, distorting & drawing everything into itself, & then finally, destroying all that it devours. My favourite verse: "Like a feather I travel down (a spiral staircase); One more loop through abyss (where stairs are erased); Like a feather I travel down (a spiral staircase); Falling deeper than it is (all stairs are erased)". This describes how the descent is gentle, imperceptible, how the way out is obliterated behind you, & how the pit into which you descend is seemingly bottomless. "Vortex" Like a lunatic, frantic The man in the room looks so dramatic With a left shoe on his right foot This spiral traffic feels too traumatic, too traumatic Quiet The man is wandering around Where's the way out he never found? And inside There's a ball made of lead It's rolling and rumbling on parquet, yeah Oh, how heavy is the ball? It bends his spine to the very ground Neither his nor another Enormous, ludicrous Oh, how heavy is his thought? In a half an hour or so It crushed the floor And smashed the man's toes Oh, how heavy is his thought In a half an hour or so It crushed the floor And smashed the man's, soul (Whirl), through the black hole in the floor (Spin), I begin my whirl (Swirl), I'm a driftwood with no strength (Spin), without soul, with no will Like a feather I travel down (a spiral staircase) One more loop through abyss (where stairs are erased) Like a feather I travel down (a spiral staircase) Falling deeper than it is (all stairs are erased) Through rapids and stones I came like water and like wind I go Through rapids and stones I came like water and like wind I go Spin, swirl Whirl, spin, swirl Swirl Whirl, spin, swirl Whirl, spin, swirl

Yes! One of my fave newer songs from Jinjer.
