We react to Madurodam Part 1 | The Netherlands | Reaction Video

George Maduro was a Dutch officer from Curacao. He fought in WWII and later joined the resistance. Because of this, and also because he was Jewish he ended up in Dachau, where he died. In his memory his parents donated their inheritance, he was their only child, to a miniature city that would make children happy and bring joy. The mini city was called after him. Later the exposition was added to show the visitors who he was, what he did, and what he stood for. In the display is the highest Dutch military medal of honor, that he received after the war, posthumous. After entering the path is high so people get an overview of the city, and it spirals down with several exits into the city to spread visitors. Everything is scaled 1:25, with a few exceptions, the plane is 1:1 of course because it is real, and a few tulips are 25:1 to let people feel the scale of the models. It started with models of famous Dutch buildings from all over the country, combined in a single city environment, complete with people, cars, bicycles, trains, trees, lampposts etc, all true copies of reality. Donations were accepted of high quality scale models if the building was of national importance. The building with tilted walls is the head office of a bank and well known for its architecture. The city grew to what it is today. The Cathedral is the St. Janskathedraal of 's-Hertogenbosch, the tower is the Dom-tower of Utrecht, and the house with moat is the residence Drakenstein of former Queen, now Princess, Beatrix. Also a model of the birth house of George Maduro was added. All models can be seen in real life in the Netherlands but that would take weeks of traveling. There are 'things to do' for adults and kids, that explain the working of an exhibited sluice, bridge etc. and the plane is identical to the historic one that was the first to fly from Amsterdam to Batavia (Jakarta) non-stop. Because the windows are replaced by displays, it can simulate a flight while you are on the plane. And much more...

the guy climbing the hill. is actually a Dutch legend "The Hero of Harlem" its the son of a lock operator, who discovered a small hole in a dyke, and immediately realized that if water keeps flowing. the breach will get bigger. so he stuck his finger in the hole in the dyke, and stayed there for a whole day and a whole night. thus saving Harlem and much of the country from a massive flood. the tale led to the Dutch saying "to put a finger in the dyke" meaning: to timely spot a small problem, and putting a stop to it before it becomes a bigger problem.

Have a look at the channel NotJustBikes. You learn all about cycling in the Netherlands. The US amount of cycling is minute compared to us in NL. Your infrastructure is car based, ours is cycling and public transport based for short to medium distances and public transport and car based for medium and long distances. The cathedral is from Den Bosch and is called Sint Jan (saint Jan)

I don't think anything should be changed, because it doesn't bother me if American Football is called American Football. I'm not a Football fan. I did play Soccer when I was kid and I was really good at it.

We used to go on school field trips to madurodam back in the 80s , It actualy has a mayor and best part is its a child , one of the few towns that has a child as mayor.

You love this kind of stuff? You can look up Railz Miniworld in Rotterdam. It's an ongoing modelbuild exposition of attractions and architecture of Rotterdam and direct surroundings. There's also a park with modelbuilds in Zeeland. I believe it's called Miniatuur Walcheren.

Further more, you may and encouraged to, to swap the face and reaction video sizes. That way, in particular in video's like these, you audience will be able to see what you're reacting to. And for a final note, make sure your ticker doesn't overlap with the original video. It's interfering in such a way it's irritating. Besides that: Keep it up!

I play the video in a small window, because I am encouraging my audience to go to the channel I am promoting to help that channel. I love that you do so much about the amusement parks in NL it's a shame it costs so much for you to come here once I believe you and your family have a great time here Especially for Disney fans the Efteling is not inferior to Disney I hope you manage to visit the Efteling once I guarantee you a fantastic time with your family If you can do it once in your life but go for 2 days you will see everything I have heard from Disney fans and universal fans that this is really the standard no commercial goals dream flight Closes six months for maintenance nothing new Build but restore there will be new attractions in the Efteling but restore the good attractions dream flight is one of those kinds already almost 30 years old but is not inferior to simbolica My opinion is that dreamflight the best darkride in the world ever built the animatronics are outdated but still great it's the whole atmosphere around it Like don't replace the Python but restore that's the best they did they wanted to put a new attraction on it glad they didn't to But restored the best choice ever as an Efteling fan it's a shame the haunted house is gone but we get something better back what I've seen in the same style

i have been to Disneyland Paris but was disappointing compared to the Efteling i really thought it was better than the Efteling but that was not, all was commercial and way too expensive
